If so, why would GGP allow a 2 yr old to go down that bank alone? Why wouldnt he call out and make sure someone met him safely down there? I do not understand the way it is being explained. Isn't that total negligence to allow a toddler to walk over an embankment towards a creek and not check on him?

Saying " I thought he found his parents" does not seem sufficient. JMO

I don't think that's what happened at all.

How about his voice, his little voice would be crying, screaming, i have had 3 kids, I know what this age is like -- especially when they don't get what they want.. (following mom & dad) -- this story is too unbelievable for me personally. Did you watch the video of the bumpy road and how long it took to get there. Could someone just explain how GGP got there, I read and read and still can't find it.

Thanks a bunch!! Keep up the great sleuthing....

Without knowing what actually happened, we can't know that little Deorr was screaming and crying and if he was he probably wouldn't have been heard due to the rushing waters of the creek. IMO. I'm not sure why you think he was crying and screaming to go to the creek with Mom and Dad.

I agree. I don't think we're seeing the picture as it actually happened. Perhaps, after the re-enactment, everyone will have a better understanding. IMO

Are they sharing that reenactment? I only quickly watched the video, but for some reason I got the feeling that that was kind of "it" and the PI felt satisfied with what he learned. I hope they will share it. I wonder who played GGP and what that person did.

I think it was said that GGP drove the suburban with IR. Maybe he drove super slow in the bumps? I dunno!

If he fell down the embankment with the oversized boots he couldn't walk very well in, he would cry and probably pretty loudly....

I'm not sure it's ever been released by any official source how many vehicles were taken or who drove what? I think the info is only from TBC's FB comments. I may be wrong - it could be that the PI mentioned something? Does anyone know the model of DK's truck? I don't think it's ever been released (there was some discussion somewhere as to whether it was a diesel but I don't think it was ever clarified).

I don't remember the make and model of his truck, but it is definitely diesel.

Or if he wondered off a ways, and a cougar was hunting and stalking in that area, he could have been taken away swiftly and silently. :(
A link to this site was posted here earlier so I think it's ok, it's innocent enough, just some locals with some knowledge of the area discussing the case. It is quite interesting what they have to say about the cougar theory. :( I'm being careful not to post any quotes, just the link, I think that's how it works on these type of sites? http://www.city-data.com/forum/idaho/2446083-two-year-old-deorr-kunz-jr.html

Searchers encourage tips be directed to law enforcement

Bonneville County Sheriff Paul Wilde and Lemhi County Chief Deputy Steve Penner want to make sure all tips regarding the case are directed to the Idaho State Police Fusion Center....
The sheriff's offices are concerned that if tips are directed solely to a private investigator, valuable information that could solve the case may be overlooked.

We don't have those types of PIs over here as far as I'm aware, so i don't understand their terms of reference.
Do they act as a legal advisor to their clients ?
Is it normal to use one in such cases? Do they have access to police investigations?

TIA if someone could clarify just what they can do.

Edited to add, I am very glad to read the report from the police about tips. - just as it should be. Imo

The criminal intelligence center is an investigative arm of the Idaho State Police that integrates, analyzes, and disseminates criminal intelligence to a wide range of federal and state agencies.

Does this mean that LE thinks a crime has occurred? It kinda reads that way, but I haven't followed a lot of "missing in the woods" cases where foul play wasn't suspected so I'm not familiar with typical search and rescue/recovery procedure.

None of these posters indicate they are local to eastern Idaho.

The Idaho State Police Fusion Center has been handling the tips for this case from pretty early on so this is not something new. The local LE offices don't have a resources to handle the calls. It doesn't necessarily mean that a crime has occurred.

I find that article reminding people to call tips into the Fusion Center "interesting". IMO it gives some insights on how LE feel about the PI's involvement in the case.

Sheriff Bowerman called the location a crime scene and turned over all interviews, recordings and physical evidence to the FBI. Everyone there at the time is a person of interest. Polygraphs given to all. I would guess he means business.

The clip that was shown did not contain the re-enactment. I really don't know if the re-enactment wll be shown to anyone and I don't know if GGPA was present or if there was a stand-in. None of that was mentioned during the interview and nothing was said about it from the reporter. All based on my recollection.

ETA: I got the impression that the re-enactment had not yet taken place when the reporter interviewed Vilt. Everyone else was seated at the picnic table. If the re-enactment had already taken place I would think they would have already left. JMO

Yes, I imagine he would, but we have no idea if he was anywhere NEAR the embankment, let alone that he fell. IMO

I had forgotten for a moment that originally the GGP was not named a POI due to his declining physical and mental health. Perhaps it is possible what we have heard IS true, and it DID happen that way, and GGP just did not have mental function to determine that he needed to follow up on making sure the toddler met his parents, even though he thought the little one was heading to the embankment and then disappeared. (I was saying I didn't think anyone would let that happen, but certainly someone who suffers from dementia might let that happen.) I am not saying it is a fact that GGP has dementia. But declining mental health would certainly be a reason for using poor judgment.
