Yes, an adult. Has not been found. I think it might be a good idea to look at other missing people and how those investigations were handled in comparison to little Deorr's.

Here's one in Michigan. Very similar in some respects. A 9-yr old autistic boy, Omarion Humphrey, went missing near Lake Callis. There was an Amber Alert although he was not thought to have been abducted. Search teams searched the lake six times and found nothing. Tracking dogs were unable to track his scent. The searches continued.

A subsequent search of Lake Callis recovered little "Mars". Autopsy results indicated he had probably been in the lake since the first day he disappeared and no foul play was indicated. Although "Mars" was an at-risk child who was living with foster parents it doesn't appear that any criminal behavior was considered, except that he was unsupervised at the time he disappeared from a splash pad. When asked why LE thought he wasn't found during the previous six searches, the response was sometimes you just miss them (or something similar).

Interesting.

Police do not believe the boy is in the lake, as it was searched a combined six times by two dive teams — one from the Genesee County Sheriff's Office and another from the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office, said Lt. Jay Rendon with the Davison Township Police Department.

Each dive team also used sonar to scan the bottom of the lake and searched all bodies of water within a two-mile radius of the complex.

Nothing was found.

And yet he was later found in the water. Sometimes you just miss things :(
There are many cases where whole adult bodies have been missed, never mind a couple of cameo toddler boots from a child who was eaten by wildlife.

I still want to know why a mountain lion couldn't of taken him and was ruled out. From what I've seen and read DeOrr was the perfect size to pounce on. They go for the head area making it so little to no noise would come from him. There really probably wouldn't of been much blood if any considering they would attack then go some where els with him. Its sad to think of but I just don't understand why this possiblity just couldn't be.

It's the boots and clothes thing..imo. Nothing was ever found..moo

ILOKAL, the boy was found in a lake drowned.

"PONTIAC, MI – A representative for the agency that placed Omarion Humphrey with his foster family testified the 9-year-old autistic boy should have been monitored at all times by the water, according to rules foster parents agree to follow."

"Omarion was visiting Lake Callis in Genesee County with his foster family on July 4 when he disappeared. Six days later, following a massive search, he was found in the lake, apparently drowned."

The Sheriff stated nothing has been ruled out. They may think certain scenarios are unlikely, but nothing has been ruled out last I heard.
I guess I was meaning more with the public's opinion. Sorry Im not always as clear as I need to be when I'm on my phone to avoid typing on this thing.

Yes, that's what I posted. I also provided a link. It's the second paragraph and second link in my post.

Yeah I've considered that also. But I'd think they could run pretty far in a short amount of time with him. If it had cubs maybe they were out side the search area. Idk

The point is, they had already searched the lake again and again with high-tech equipment - and missed him.

He floated to the surface 6 days later. Sadly not the case with Deorr.

We really need to think about that. A few days ago I posted a link about forests, in general. The photos were beautiful, but they also showed just what searchers are up against. Just look at the forest floors. I don't care how "thoroughly" the area was searched, it would be virtually impossible to find his boots, his clothing, his toy car, or even little Deorr himself :(

Not really an edit edit, I only know how to carry over one link at a time :(. Didn't mean to confuse you. So sorry.

A mountain lion or drowning are my first thoughts. I don't think for a minute because they didn't "find" anything that means a mountain lion didn't take him. Just WHAT did the sheriff expect to find? Shreds of boots and clothing and a tiny car on the forest floor under thick leaves, sticks, mushrooms, and dirt? Ya think?

Those were mine as well. But as time goes on I'm getting more stuck on the mountain lion.
In all reality if what everyone says is true as far as time goes then a mountain lion is really the only thing that could hunt, kill, and take DeOrr away in that short of time.

Just randomly gonna add. I think a bear would of made to much noise.

I agree about the bear. I also don't think the bear would have disappeared.

So true. Things could have changed with the FBI investigation, but I still am not totally willing to commit to assuming 100% that any one thing couldn't have happened. See, I am learning to open my mind. It's so interesting to me how people take the idea of Occam's Razor and apply it to whatever theory they have. Because "for me" my idea is the simplest and most obvious.
And by "me" I mean anyone. I can think of a few different scenarios that I think would be most likely. based on the little we know. But those are guesses. And I don't "like" any of them. But what I have learned here is to not write them down, because I could be wrong. In fact, if I have more than one possible theory then certainly one is wrong!!!!

Yes, I've been reading the 411 books about all these missing hikers, I guess that's why I said 'yet another one'. I just can't believe so many go missing, many never found. And tiny little Deorr, even harder to find. :(
