Or if they thought he was abducted, maybe they thought it was by someone they knew? I thought JM's statement to the effect of "why would they do this to us, especially jammy knowing how much he means to us?" Was odd. How would the kidnapper know how much he meant to them if s/he didn't know the family? Especially since if the kidnapper came across the toddler unattended in the woods.

~~......My "gut' is thinking the exact same thoughts....

DeOrr, is it true? Has your son been found in Minnesota?” I asked hopefully.
A long pause. Then his response:
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

What an odd reaction...cold.. JMO

The report was false. The writer at the Montana station had confused DeOrr’s disappearance with another report of a missing child who had been found. The story was full of inaccuracies and should never have been posted.

We contacted the station and, within 20 minutes, a correction was issued and the writer posted an apology on his newsroom’s Facebook page. Fortunately no major damage was done – just a lot of false hope – but we’re reminded, once again, how quickly news (true or false) spreads in this digital, Facebook, texting, social and smartphone world.

Other than the fact that they gave people another excuse to pick apart and judge the parent's words - without even hearing them first hand. My first reaction to reading about the phone call is to think what a terrible heart stopper that must have been for the father, these poor people - they can't put a foot right it seems. I believe they've been worried about speaking publicly since their every word in their initial public television interview was played backwards by some nutter comedy hypnotist fellow. No wonder they are guarded about saying anything in public again.

Why would what some nutty hypnotist has to say worry them? I mean, REALLY? I wouldnt care what anyone had to say..my cares would be elsewhere.. So, you dont speak out and try to spread the word and plead on TV or whatever because you are intimidated by a nutball who plays things backwards? Truly, does that even make sense? JMO

Well, I sort of thought the same thing at first, but really he might have just been caught off guard or thought maybe it was a cruel prank or something, and didn't know how else to respond. I would describe his reaction more as "guarded" as opposed to "cold".

BBM - I do agree with this. The last thing I would be worried about is some attention wh*re's opinions of me when my precious child is missing. IMO.

Perhaps Deorr Sr. had heard about the false story, so when the reporter called, he was very annoyed and being sarcastic? IDK...I need more context.

I'm hoping the reporter identified himself when he called, so DK would know Nate Eaton wasn't playing a cruel prank. I imagine DK was shocked and I would have expected him to say "What? Where?!", but we don't know what was going through the dad's head. I feel like Eaton has been very solicitous of the family and hasn't done anything to intentionally cast them in a suspicious light.

Exactly! I would much rather believe he was the victim of an animal attack than the victim of a fellow human. Unfortunately there is some kind of evidence or information that called for the FBI to be brought in and they are quietly preparing for a "possible" criminal case. This would not happen unless they have strong indicators foul play is involved.

oh and dont forget ab the drones collecting evidence

I have been reading the animal attacks people are posting, and i believe anything is likely, EXCEPT... (modsnip) .. The LE could easily chalked it up as mountain lion cougar bear etc attack..... and wiped there hands and case closed. (modsnip)

... Waiting for the truth to emerge.

Read the case of Laquan Lattimore. He died just last week after being missing for only two days. The FBI entered the case immediately because he had no history as a runaway. The poor boy was found drowned in a park creek on Tuesday. LE states they do not suspect foul play.

Regarding Amber Alert, I posted the guidelines upstream. Deorr's case does not meet the requirements. Plain and simple.

FBI is involved in many missing person cases. Does not mean foul play or that an arrest is coming. FBI has more manpower, resources, and money than most localities. There's a subgroup in FBI that deals with the missing.

Just an FYI - if you use the poster put out by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, they have his eye color listed as blue when they are actually brown. I have no idea why it hasn't been changed yet, as both the NCMEC and Jessica have been notified (more than once) several weeks ago about the error.

I contacted them as well about changing the eye color. Very strange!!!

Have you been in touch with the family? Not necessarily DK and JM, but mY e JM's sister who seems to be taking a proactive role I would be hesitant to do something that DeOrr's parents don't seem to want to do themselves. They had someone from Missing and Exployed Children a advising within a week of the baby's disappearance. They were able to mobilize almost 200 people to search within 24 hours. It's possible there is some reason the family has not done more to reach out and until we understand what that is, I don't feel comfortable "going rogue".

FWIW, 52,000 views is not necessarily unique views. I may have logged 1000 of those myself.

As a parent who lost and found her child, I would like to hear how you reacted and acted, from finding out she was missing to locating her. Would you mind telling us how you coped/kept going/succeeded? TIA
That's a good point and I sure wish I could talk to someone in their family. Every time I have seen Deorr's parents either on the news or on SM, they have said…get his picture out there. Do whatever you can. I don't see how helping to do what they've asked, would be considered 'rogue.' I have tried reaching out to their family a dozen times over the past three weeks but they are not accepting new friends on their boards. I would love to help them. I'm sure they're being inundated with emails and phone calls and besides themselves with grief. I have been locked out of faze bots because they're asking for govt id. so that bridge has been burned. I'm certain they're being told the same thing that I was told…..let the authorities handle it.

As far as as the Center for Missing and Exploited Children (CMEC) goes...They told me to let the authorities handle it as well and not to use my personal phone number. They said I'd get a lot of crazy people calling, which I did get a couple, but mostly it was well meaning people. If I had done what the CMEC and Sheriff's office had advised…(they were recommending each other) I wouldn't have found my daughter. I would love to talk with the Kunz family, but I don't know how to reach them.
How did I cope with the news my daughter was missing?? It was 3 o'clock in the morning when the boarding school called and told me she had run away. She was 2500 miles away from home. I nearly collapsed hearing the news. A primal grief wail came over me after I hung up the phone. I died a thousand deaths as I cried and grieved and imagined every horrific scenario that came to mind. I couldn't sleep or eat. I prayed A LOT! I must have made a million calls to law enforcement. Registered her with the Center for Missing & Exploited Children, The Runaway hotline, the Lost etc. I was horrified the Sheriff's office was moving so slowly. By day 3 a detective had not even been assigned to the case yet. That angered me no end and I became very proactive on my own….

I started networking cross country with the Regional Transit Authorities, Amalgamated Transit Union, the AFL-CIO and Craigslist. I got more help from those people than I did the Sheriff's department. They did what the Sheriff's department refused to do for me. They wouldn't even send out my Missing Poster…they said they liked to do their own. Have you seen those? They're black and white, small blurred pictures. The Safety and Security officers at the RTA got my full color poster up at every transit center, bus station and train station within minutes. They got her poster up at every employee lunchroom, lounge and sign in window within seconds. Man, I was getting CCd' emails back from everywhere! "It's UP in Tampa, "Miami is covered, "Palm beach was just posted". 'Up at the train station, Greyhound etc. Those people moved mountains for me.

I just can't say enough about Craigslist…WoW! Who would have thought? What a fantastic networking, nation wide venue that can be utilized in ways never dreamed of. I posted an ad for a tour guide in Tampa under General Labor and explained my situation. I offered 100 bucks for a weekend tour guide to show me around Florida when I arrived and searched for my daughter. I also posted in the community boards under Lost and Found/Volunteers. First in Tampa, then in Palm beach. My phone was ringing off the hook from good. honest people wanting to help. There were retired police officers, detectives, sheriff's, youth pastors and countless others that wanted to volunteer. I even got a call from a local reporter who wanted to track me tracking her. I was choking back the tears, I was so touched so many people came out of nowhere to help. The really heartwarming part was they didn't want my money I had offered. They were just good decent people.

After I got off the plane in Tampa I received a call from a bus driver who worked at Palm Tran. He had just seen her in Palm Beach and saw her poster when he got back to the base. It was the first really solid lead I had and went for it. I rented a car and drove straight to Palm Beach on the Florida turn pike. It took hours to get there, I hadn't slept in days. I pulled into Palm Beach at 2:30 a.m. and got a room.

The following morning I met a couple of the detectives and 20 other craigslist volunteers wanting to pass out fliers. We went everywhere, we hit the malls, the beaches, teen hang outs, bus stops, truck stops, grocery and drug stores, convenience stores, planned parenthoods, youth hostels, hotels, food banks etc.
The detectives drove me around sleazy neighborhoods where they had known runaways to land. I found my daughter at 8 p.m. in the lobby of the Days Inn in Palm Beach. The clerk at the desk had recognized her from the poster. OMG I nearly fainted finding her. Someone had rented her a room because she had been raped the night before. A newly acquired friend had taken her to a drug dealers house and dropped her off. She was slipped a date rape drug. She could have been killed. I was so relieved to find her…it was an absolute miracle. I thank God for riding shotgun with me the whole way.

This is the short version of the story. You asked how I found her. It took all of this and about three more pages I don't have time to write. It took a tremendous amount of determination and stamina once I figured out what I needed to do. Networking is key, and I can help. I'm good at it and I'd really like to help.

If their family is just following the standard protocol these organizations advise…If I could, I would tell them to break all the rules and go with their gut instincts. If they're following for some other reason, pertaining to investigative strategy, then yes, I would be hesitant. I would love to hear from somebody in their family, or someone who is a friend of a friend who can get a message to them…there are faster, more effective ways to get little Deorr's photo's out there and get people looking for him.

This is amazing. Thank you for sharing. Your daughter is a lucky girl to have a mother like you - determined and smart! I feel inspired reading your story. I think DeOrr's family could really benefit from your experience and hard-won knowledge.

I'm sick of seeing these patents being dissected. We have no evidence that they have done anything wrong. They can't breathe without it being analysed by someone. The police have not named them as suspects. They are POI because they were at the location. Nothing more. We have no evidence of them doing anything wrong. Yet whether they smoke, what religion they are, where her other kids are, why they went camping, whether they even saw minnows is being discussed like it's going to help find DeOrr.

We have no reason to suspect them. We have no reason to be sleuthing them. They are victims and their baby is missing. At this time my heart breaks for them.

Would it be preferable to resume chasing the cougar?

This site is meant to be a victim supporting site. There is nothing to suggest that the parents are anything but victims, so yes, if you want to chase cougars, why not?

In reality those suggesting animal abduction are ignoring that there is no evidence of that either. No tracks, no excrement, no body.

  • #919
Didnt the mom say "why would someone take him knowing how much he means to us"? It was in the interview.. maybe that is a clue.. even though LE doesnt think he was abducted but cant rule it out..jmo

If that was in the video interview with the parents, can someone type out the exact words from the interview ? I think it would help to have it written out exactly like the interview was stated and maybe a sentence or two surrounding it so we can get context.

I would do it but don't have time right now and this is very interesting because I dont recall even seeing it in the interview. Thanks in advance if someone wants to take this challenge of finding it and typing out what was said.

This could be the biggest clue as to what has happened to him IMO.
The more I think about this the more I think this is an important clue. Because this means the mom has already outruled him walking off on his own and it means she has outruled any animal attack. She has already decided someone took him by this interview IMO.

I've seen no one accusing the parents of anything. True, some have wondered why they're not more proactive in getting publicity for a possible "abducted" child, and some have wondered at the parents' wording at times, but that is usual in cases of this sort.

On the other hand, it does make people wonder why GGP's name will not be released. It almost smacks of covering something up, but God knows what because we've heard he is unwell. Then we have the "friend", with a rap sheet, who never would have been known if not for SM outing him. Wazzup with that? There seem to be a lot of loose ends that people would like to see tied up. OH! Let's not forget the un-named person busily spreading cremains during the search for a missing child. We were told said cremains contaminated a good bit of the area.

As for no evidence of a cougar, there seldom is until later, sometimes years later, when a piece of skull or bits of clothing may be found by a hiker/dog walker/lovers who just stumble across them.

I feel the mods are doing a wonderful job of keeping things on track, and if we didn't discuss things in these cases, there would be no need for this board.

My opinion only
