What puzzles me is that Chad doesn't seem the worse for wear after his incarceration. I'd have expected him to look even the slightest bit haggard, but he looks just like he did when he was arrested.
Lori, yes, she doesnt look as good as when she went in but that could just be put down to lack of beauty enhancements in prison.

I agree. He looked as if he was ready any second to belt out a hearty "R-i-b-b-e-t!"

If he hadn't been a truck driver, I would be more inclined to agree with you about the blood clot. But clots like that are an occupational hazard for truck drivers and others who spend too much time in vehicles. My nephew nearly died from one years ago. With so many deaths over so many years, there's room for one of them to be an accident or coincidence.
Yes, I agree - but in Alex's case we have to consider how his blood clot was so perfectly timed. JMO

Thank you @montegrl for the updated court hearings!

JMO but I think that maybe the problem folks are having with her hair is that she seems to care more about her looks than the horrid things she has done and not taking any responsibility for it….after all, she is a mother who was involved in the murder of her children and terrible disposal of their bodies.
Yep, her kids were way way down the list of things she cared about. Possibly even lower than her ex-husbands.

While looking at pictures of public defender John Thomas, there was something about him that reminded me of CD. I don't know if anybody else noticed that...maybe it's just me.
Fat faces.

I can't imagine the horror of seeing my daughter being tried for murdering her own children. I wonder how Lori's mother is feeling?

Maybe he loves her? Maybe he is planning on it? Who knows?

IMO, neither of them know what love is.
They could have learnt that from their previous spouses.

Yes, and her son Alex is an alleged killer also. I wonder if she is still defending Lori, as she did in an interview about a year ago I think.

Plus, Chad's parents are both still alive, aren't they? Poor people. So many people either dead or grieving - and the murderers don't care a jot.

So.... from what I've read here - Lori's trial will be on 10/19/22 & Chad's on 1/9/23 - ?? Is that correct? I thought they were going to be tried together?

TIA if someone can explain this to me! :)

I took it as they would be addressing this with JP and my assumption was that we'd likely see CD also tried in October since they are properly joined. Obviously my assumptions aren't facts so I too would love some clarity

Okay - I see now... I think!? LOL! I'll wait too for more "clarity" on this trial.
Thanks for your response! :)

As @MTW2011 reported upthread, in some previous cases Archibald has insisted his client’s receive their right to a speedy trial. Here the ramifications are particularly interesting since Chad waived his and has already had a trial date set 3 months later than the State’s “speedy trial” deadline for Lori. Requiring JP to move Chad’s up to meet Lori’s trial date cuts the trial prep time he’d have left by a full third. If Prior objects to moving it up (and I expect he will) but is forced to move it up anyway I’d think there would be concern Chad would have grounds for appeal if found guilty.

JA knows this and IMO that along with requiring the State to prosecute sooner than they’d planned factored into his decision. If Prior fights moving Chad’s trial up I think there’s a good chance the court will be inclined to sever the cases, which allows Lori’s defense to point the finger at Chad without Chad being able to point it back at her as effectively as he could when waging a full defense. IMO it seems to be a good strategic move on JA’s part.

I think it might also make the State more inclined to strike a plea deal w/Lori. They probably don’t want to prosecute 3 months earlier than planned any more than Prior does. Nor does the state want to spend resources required for a 10 week trial twice. By not entering a plea Lori hasn’t tipped her cards one way or the other as to her willingness to plead guilty in exchange for a deal which may give JA more leverage if they choose to negotiate for one. Is JA angling for a plea deal?

It’s quite the game of chess being played before the trial(s?) even starts. The aforementioned reasons give the State strong incentive to want to strike a plea deal w/Lori. But should they give her a deal no doubt there will be a public outcry they’d just as soon avoid. It will be interesting to see how JA’s “speedy trial” strategy plays out.

IANAL MOO

All three look seriously worried.
Lori has every reason to look worried. If the attorneys look worried it’s probably because a) they don’t know if Lori will behave in court. b) they may be shot at leaving court or c) both.

I was surprised to see Chad and Lori leave the court house at the same time. Wondering if they let Chad stay so he could watch Lori’s hearing. Or because it would be easier to protect them physically if travelling in the same caravan. How far away is the woman’s jail from where Chad is staying?

What I wonder most though is if they were kept apart or allowed to catch sight of each other. I’d think even the State is curious how they’d react upon seeing each other.

Not a lawyer either but I could see this being the case. A plea deal on the horizon is the only benefit I could see to her choosing not to enter a plea / her attorney entering a "not guilty" plea for her.

If I recall, the State intends to seek the death penalty for Chad's case but seeing as LVD was still not competent at the time this was stated, and her case was stayed, do they need to file anything stating whether or not they'll be seeking the same for her? Wasn't there a limited amount of time the prosecution has to do that from the time someone's arraigned?

JMO I could see a plea deal being entertained by LVD and her attorneys if it keeps the death penalty off of the table for Lori.
