Anybody else get the feeling LH and Prior are kind of working together? I've had that feeling for a long time based on her commentary during Fri evening livestreams with Lauren.

I haven't been watching/listening. But, hmmmm maybe I should??

I don't know but I personally think he's being a good lawyer. He's been picking his spots and been dropping crumbs along the way for later use and now using LV's case as leverage. He knew that it was a DP case and the volume at scheduling. Now he wants another year than he originally needed? I think he's waited this long because now is near the time in which LV SHOULD have been tried. This could handcuff JB and ultimately give JP what they were seeking originally and if not, another appeal issue. What are you going to do, hold LV another year past her speedy trial? I'm still interested as to why he's been trying so hard to get RW off the case. I' I'm obviously not a lawyer and my perceptions may be completely wrong. It's just my take

Also, to add JP stated "allow the live streaming of the trial of Chad Guy Daybell" and not just of CD & LV

Will JB:
Deny continuance
Deny to sever
Deny live streaming

JP is really working JB pretty good in my opinion

LH and her co-host are close with the Woodcocks, so I doubt she is working with JP. It does appear sometimes that her interest coincides more with the defense than with the prosecution, but she often gives her opinion as a retired defense lawyer.

Of note, there has been a DP case in Florida, for the murder of Nubia Barahona, the perpetrator, Jorge Barahona has still not gone to trial, he has been in jail since 2011...stalling the inevitable.

I think he wants to meet her, possibly out of mutual respect, or like attracts like? Maybe he will try to lure her to the dark side. lol

It seems to me that anything beyond being on reasonably civil speaking terms would be a conflict of interest for both of them? but otherwise no harm, no foul.

Heh, nothing sketchy to see here unless he plans on pulling a Nurmi to recoup his losses. Poor Kirk.

We all knew that CD got the better attorney between MM and JP. I guess true love and past lives only goes so far....MM is back on his bus, checking out local ER rooms for cases.

Self-preservation trumps loin fire for Chad. If he gets away with it, he can fool other women. I have a feeling that Lori still does not understand that or she would flip on him first.

Yes, but I for one didn't expect the state to have performed as badly as they have to date and there is a lot that has transpired under JB watch that has me equally as concerned. I know there are many law professors and legal pundits that have similar concerns so I can't be completely crazy

Unpopular opinion but I think his attorney is just doing this for appellate record, I’m sure he knows how unlikely Judge will reverse his previous ruling and now sever the cases. He’s probably also thinking about if the Judge ends up denying any ‘alternate perpetrators’ theory a la Alex Cox which would probably only help an appellate record since we have already have read several arguments by Prior about how he cannot adequately prepare a zealous defense especially in time for the trial. It’s all about the long-term goal. It is my opinion good defense attorneys try to think and act beyond just the trial ahead of the then. JMHO and all that jazz.

Prior is playing the long-term strategy over there. Meanwhile the State is still allegedly withholding Discovery materials so….I’m not so sure they’re playing the same long term game.

In her letter she wrote of some “secret gag order” and there’s a public Protective order referencing any any attorney or their staff with access to any Discovery in this case preventing them from talking anyone not working on the case.

Considering she isn’t working on the case IMHO I doubt he’d risk talking or sharing anything with her. They just may want similar things - she wants stuff unsealed and he wants the next hearing on video

I really hope they keep both trials together. I've always found it a waste of time/money to have separate trials for criminals that are essentially being tried for the same crimes. I.e., it seems obvious that the deaths of both of their respective spouses & the two innocent children are crimes that they planned/orchestrated together.

I don't see how CD can get out of at least being complicit for the deaths of the two children - since the remains were found on his property. Going along with this, he tried to flee the scene (and was stopped) when his property was being searched - so it's evident that he knew/suspected they were going to find something.

Yes, I've had the misfortune to run into people like this as well. People like this make me sick.
I can imagine Chad trying to say Alex buried the bodies there to frame him.

I can't imagine him saying it convincingly: that's another story.

I can't see Chad saying Alex buried the bodies of Tylee and JJ. He, Chad sent a text telling his wife he shot and buried a raccoonat that time. Chad is stuck IMO.

Yeah that piece of evidence is not good for his defense. im not his defense and simply playing Devil’s Advocate here but the presence of a geo-located phone and texts sent from it do not automatically - without other evidence - that ONLY Chad could have and did do that. It means his phone sent some messages to Tammy, and it was at his property when sent. And in numerous Courts, the use of such data and the experts used to testify about it seems to be under more scrutiny in the last several years.

An older article from The Washington Post, gifted link below mentions in part “ In recent federal cases in Portland, Ore., and Chicago, judges have ruled that the analysis of cellphone records was not scientifically valid or reliable in locating people, in part because investigators have overstated its accuracy. In the hundreds of trials where judges have allowed the evidence, some defense lawyers have persuaded juries to acquit defendants of kidnapping and murder.”

some additional sources, my apologies as they do not relate directly to the USA but

I don't think it's unpopular at all. I know I'm in the same camp and I see many others are as well. I stated upthread that he's been dropping these crumbs along the way for later use (appeals) and the list keeps growing. I think these recent ones (sever again and live streaming) carry more weight at this moment. Do I think it will force JB's hand on either issue? Probably not but I again feel that's another win for JP in the end from a strategic standpoint. I totally agree that he's playing the long game.

What is the state so worried about that they can't get their act together in 3 years?

Snipped for focus.

I didn't notice this part earlier but where has JP stated he wouldn't have adequate time to prepare for the trial? I don't recall him making many comments in general since the scheduling hearing. At that point, the state wanted Sept. 2023 and JP wanted Oct. 2022. He saw no reason he couldn't be ready to go at that point and if I recall correctly, it was more time than he thought he'd even need. Obviously, everything on the LV side changes his strategy but I just don't recall him making arguments that he wouldn't be able to be able to be ready by trial. My assumption is that he's pivoted his strategy based on several JB rulings and LV situation with speedy trial. A continuance would obviously change the landscape in this case.

That's what the Daybell kids say too - that someone else buried the kids there to frame him. I need an emoji of a horse with blinkers on. :)
