I think if they had not been caught by now AND the brother hadn't died that our boy Chad would be dead or missing.

Because all of these dead people had one thing in common- they were standing in Lori's way.

Lori seems to want to stay married to Chad while he's trying to drop her to save himself. IMO she would have turned on him when he crossed her if she was thinking rationally, but she probably continues to believe in their cause. He, on the other hand, knows it's a sham. Chad's fantasies about Tammy's death started years before he met Lori.

You could equally claim that Charles, Tylee, JJ and Tammy were in Chad's way. Lori was his goal; she wasn't free and neither was he.

I agree with you. From what we've read, he was preying on women long before Lori became an evil glimmer in his eye. I have a feeling we've all met people like him, and maybe not realized it. Hapless and goofy, innocent victim, personable "aw shucks" public persona. Watch out for what lurks behind the facade. It's a lifetime of careful cultivation. JMO

I don't have any trouble seeing how Lori might have been attracted to Chad. Goofy aw shucks guys definitely appeal to many women, whether they're ugly or not. In fact, sometimes the ugly enhances the goofy appeal--it comes across as sweet and more genuine.

I speak as someone who does find that type quite attractive, abstractly speaking.

But Lori had her own personal psychopathic killing machine, Alex Cox, at her beck and call. I'm convinced he murdered Joe Ryan before he murdered Charles Vallow and subsequently the kids. He came within a few inches of shooting Brandon Boudreaux, and made a face to face attempt to murder Tammy as she was getting groceries out of her car. His phone was pinging not too far away the night that Tammy Daybell was murdered on this date in 2019.

Alex killed Charles because he believed the latter was a zombie. It was Chad who associated an evil spirit with Charles. Similar with Brandon and Tammy. So Alex followed Chad's doctrine in those cases, not Lori's orders. Joe Ryan's case is different.

Julie Rowe stated back when she defended Chad that he told her early on (they met in 2014) about his vision of Tammy dying young. I recall that police opened an investigation into the death of Joe Ryan. I'm not sure what they hoped to find because Mr. Ryan's body had been cremated. Has the investigation concluded or is it still ongoing? Does anyone recall the results of that investigation?

I think it was ruled natural causes.

As an aside, just because someone dies that has a connection to LVD it doesn't mean they were murdered.

Kind of example. I literally saw someone post in a heart group I'm in about their knee hurting "is this a heart issue"? No. Just because you have a heart issue doesn't mean your knee is a symptom of a heart attack.

I mean, I generally agree -- and I often hear these often perfectly reasonable concerns from patients looking for straight causality in something as intricate as the human body / mind -- but the fact that the trio of LVD / CD / AC are known to have been involved in at least 4 murders and at least 2 attempted murders makes scrutiny of any sudden deaths of friends or associates seem important, if not inevitable.

Close association with LVD & Co doesn't make murder a sure thing, but it certainly seems to raise the odds, and I'd imagine that previous failures to properly investigate the deaths of Tammy and Charles have inclined the authorities towards caution.

If only LE had paid closer attention to CV.

Hi @Niner, sorry I've been a slacktastrophe lately, just buried with work! No new court dates for her yet, it looks like they've been submitting some briefing on the issue. I think they will hold a sealed hearing to determine her competency and then if she is found incompetent again the stay will be in effect until she is competent. That's my take anyway.

Or do they not need that qualification because his charges are slightly different, and he's not eligible for the death penalty?

You do not have to be death penalty qualified if you're privately retained counsel. When LV was declared indignant, she was then appointed a public defender who must be death penalty qualified.

Just my opinion, but I have a feeling that had Chad and Lori not been caught when they were caught, Chad would have racked-up many more deaths by now.

Lori is stupid and potentially the worst mother ever, but Chad is evil incarnate. MOO

I wonder where Chad would have drawn the line? What if any of his own children had suspected him, or crossed him? Or his parents? Or siblings? I don't know how a murderer feels, and I doubt I ever will, but I believe that it just gets easier and easier. MOO
