Is it unsettling to have an fbi unit in town?

Yes, new as of yesterday. I’ve been slowly following along for months and would see things I’d want to comment on or about. I finally made an account and joined in.

Other than seeing it when driving by, it really doesn’t make much difference for my family. I think it’s a reassurance that things stay on the right track and justice can be found. Our police force is awesome but this is definitely more than they usually deal with.

I have tried to follow along but there are a few things I keep wondering and haven't been able to find an answer to
1. Has Melani ever explained her plan around the 50/50 custody of her 4 children after moving away to Rexburg. I'm not sure the time/distance from family home or where BB lived to her new place in Idaho. Am I correct in thinking it is a 12 hour drive?
2. Do we know if IP told Melani about the domestic violence complaint before their marriage? Surely this would be a reason not to rush into a marriage and also likely to impact her custody battle. Surely BB can add this to his fears about the safety of the children if Melani were to have any unsupervised time with their children.
I wish Nate had immediately interrupted and said why would Kay be threatening as far as Tylee is concerned. Actually that makes me wonder if, in the weeks after Charles' murder when Kay was trying to FaceTime with JJ, Tylee made contact with Kay or answered a call.
Watching these interviews with Nate there is such a disconnect from reality. Both IP and Melani are expressing wanting to be with their children so a normal person would put that as their main priority. Who cares what Lori and Chad are facing, not the priority. They really do look like "zombies" wheeled out to put a narrative about Lori out into the media/public at a cost to their own chance to be with their children.

Yeah, and I noticed Ian finally put down that bottle of water he had been fiddling with the entire time and by the last couple of minutes his posture had changed to be more open and relaxed. I couldn't figure out what changed since it was rather sudden and the video had been spliced. I attributed it to the fact they probably knew the interview was nearing the end and they could finally start to relax.

I'd like to know where he plugged that in, so that it wasn't visible to Melani, to be able to record Lori/Chad's end of the conversation on Melani's phone.

Does anyone here know how that works? Does she have to have them on loud speaker? Is it not a connected device?

I can't remember how IP phrased it, but do we know that he was just recording conversations between Chad/Lori and Melani? Not phone conversations between Chad/Lori and himself, Ian? That would make concealing the recording device a nonissue, but it would bring up how odd and unexpected it is for a guy to talk on the phone, more than once, with his new aunt and uncle...unless they had more than just casual conversation points to discuss.

Is there any information on chads up bringing regarding he and his family's religious beliefs? When did he adopt his so called LDS beliefs? I am not personally convinced chad believes any of the stuff he talked about, he strikes me as the kind of guy that likes to tell these fantasy style stories to people and gets a kick out of people being captivated by it all and feeling like they are all part of this group he's created. Other this his own claims of having near death experiences, is there any other prior history of his religious beliefs growing up? Part of me feels like he set out to take advantage of people from the get go.

Yes, I think there's some information in The Timeline, but in general, I believe he had a pretty standard LDS childhood. At least, I haven't read anything to suggest otherwise. People have reported that he was a nice guy in high school, although he maybe wanted to be a little more popular (I hope I'm remembering this right, I have no sources but my own memory). His divergent beliefs seem to have begun following his near-death experience as a young adult, and seem to have grown from there.

He wasn't clear in his document but I did note either he or she said it was her calls he was recording in at least one of the recent interviews.

Maybe it was something similar to this Bluetooth recording device? This looks like thumb-drive and you can pair it up with other devices (phones) to secretly record conversations without having to plug it in.

I think as well that this scenario is the most plausible IF that BS about light/dark/cult things was not indeed guiding LVD and CD actions, but rather was their "mating dance", and was over inflated by CV due to his personal reasons, and later by BB etc. However, the amount of deaths and strange moves surrounding LVD and CD makes me doubt that.

Sure. But if I were Kay, no matter what scenario I believed, I would be be papering the area from Gardiner to Livingston with "Have You Seen These Children" and "Have You Seen These Vehicles" posters, and getting in touch with Montana law enforcement and that religious group that still owns land along US 89.

Lori left the Phoenix area around the end of August after her landlord asked her to leave. That was about 6 weeks after Charles's death. I find that a plausible period for threats to develop. And where else would she run but to the town your lover lives in? Maybe she checked and the apartment in Rexburg had a no pet policy. Yes, service dogs are not pets but do we know if the dog was truly a service dog as opposed to an emotional support animal?


Even Kay admitted in an interview that she may have crossed the line at times. We have not seen the emails so I don't think any of us can make such a definitive declaration that there were no threats.

Was Melani living next door to C&L at the time Ian was recording conversations with C&L?

I watched part of the video without sound, and his behavior and demeanor is too casual for any one of the things being discussed in the interview: his wife's trauma history, missing children, troubled marriages, murder.

I'm no lawyer, but if Ian were my client, I'd tell him: "Sit up strong and straight, wear something a bit more serious, and hereI'll take that water bottle off your hands so you don't futz with it."

Re: quick marriages:
I would say it's very unusual, especially with children in the mix. That makes it especially irresponsible. As indicated earlier, months, people would joke about it being quick, but days, no. That would make everyone's jaw drop. There is no requirement for pre-marital counseling. It's looked down upon to get married outside the temple, even for a second marriage (though more acceptable than a first marriage, for a number of practical reasons), and just for logistical purposes, that typically can't be done quickly. You have to have a series of interviews and then schedule a date at the temple. Even if two people claim (as these two insinuate, though not outright) that God confirmed to them that they should get married, most people would see it as strange to do it so quickly, and without family. It just seems unnecessarily fast.

ETA: there are people who would say "if you know it's right, why wait?" But I still think 10 days would shock most of them, too

I’m a scrapbooker and use to follow a blogger/nationally recognized crafter who is a LDS from Utah. She has a large craft business who has products sold in large craft stores. She was married to to a doctor. She constantly professed her love for her husband. He was diagnosed with a terminal cancer and died a few months later. A few months after his death, she met and married the 2nd love of her life. To me, it just seems so odd for an outsider to see how quickly some jump into another relationship/marriage.

Agree--they are not looking at each other but, I believe, instead are looking at the 2 attorneys in the room as I think the attorneys were sliding them notes of what to say, what not to say and it appeared to me that IP was watching one of them the whole time.

I also noticed that in part 2 interview, Nate asked MP where she thought the children were and she responded she didn't know and she has had every FEAR in the world of what could have happened to them.
she then added--"I think most of December, after Lori and Chad just disappeared, and I didn’t have a phone number for them and no contact, I am thinking the worst.
And- "

and I’m having every “what-if,” because I didn’t see them the whole time I was up there in November.

NOW FAST FORWARD TO 3RD INTERVIEW--

Eaton: Melani, when’s the last time you spoke with Lori?

Melani: I had a phone call with her – I want to say the second week of December after Alex had passed. I think it was the night Ian told me he had been going to the police and FBI. I haven’t heard anything from them since then.

Eaton: And she and Chad were already in Hawaii at that time?

Melani: I would guess they were already in Hawaii at that time because they left that last week in November

So-first she said she does NOT have phone number or contact with Lori
then she states- she spoke to Lori in December and that she "guesses' Lori is in Hawaii because she knew they had left for Hawaii in NOVEMBER.

So while the world is wondering where Lori and Chad are at, MP knew they were in Hawaii

She states no contact then states she spoke to Lori in December.

Too many contradictions

Also, everytime Nate asked about the children--she brought the whole interview, story back to her and how she was going through her OWN STUFF and her own issues with divorce and her kids, yada, yada.

She NEVER answers the question

I listened to all 3, I read the transcripts of all 3 and
Again- JMO-- it is BS and they are in CYA mode.

Well, I don't see contradictions, to be honest, at least from these narratives: MP says she didn't have LV's phone number for most of December and could not contact her, and was not sure LV was in Hawaii, even though she knew they left in the end of November. But LV contacted her after AC death, the 2nd week of December (so it should be after Dec 12th and before Dec 19th when IP confessed about the wire, so he was able to record phone call(s) when they happened just as he said). So I am not saying MP says the truth, but at least I see no contradictions from interview.
The other question, though, is WHY there was no contact with LV before she contacted them herself. Everyone has mobile phones, it's not that landlines are available only...

I ask this question sincerely. Can you provide an example of what could possibly be a threat? What could be so awful or dangerous that the kids need to go into hiding, but Lori could continue living her life in Hawaii? Until someone can provide concrete examples, I find the theory of unidentified threat implausible. And if there was a viable threat, why not go to the police? None of the above theory makes sense to me. It’s like bad thriller novel.

I know that at least some of Kay’s emails are public. I have read them. I will find them and provide link. There is nothing remotely threatening

What school did Tylee attend? I thought Tylee had graduated high school or got her ged (not sure on the link here, so correct me if I’m wrong). I think I saw they checked byui and couldn’t find a record. Not sure on where I saw that though. I know there’s two beauty schools, a massage therapy school, and a technical college nearby. Could it have been one of those? Is this another story to throw more doubt in the mix? All jmo
