The NY post published an article with quotes from some of his neighbors casting doubt on the story but the reason they're saying its not true is because the neighborhood is too liberal for it too happen!
To think that something bad couldn't happen in your neighborhood because your neighbors are nice is the height of hubris. Bad stuff happens in "liberal" neighborhoods all over the world even bad stuff happens in liberal gated communities.

I think the neighbors are well aware that crime happens everywhere these days.
I believe they are upset that an alleged attack on a Hollywood star has made their neighborhood a subject for disdain nationally. Who wants their neighborhood to be viewed as a crime haven for incidents like this? And sadly, the city of Chicago, already stereotyped worldwide as a dangerous cesspool for drugs, gangs, robberies and killings isn't getting away from that social stink any time soon. An incident like this just reinforces it.

PS... It's disappointing, but not shocking, that the information about the investigation to the media (Rob Elgas and Rafer Weigel) seem to be trickling down to nothing.

For property value alone! I'd be quite annoyed if I had just put my home on the market.....

I am really trying to be open minded about this case

But I dont think I have ever seen the word 'allegedly' used as many times as it has been used in this particular case. Imo, even the media had dropped that word in recent years only using it occasionally. But in this case it has been used adnausem throughout.

May I ask a question please for those who know, and will answer?

Since I dont ever watch CNN, MSNBC, HLN nor NBC has this story received extensive daily national coverage from the minute known until now? Also, have there been marches for Jussie?Tia

The reason I ask is I only learned of this case by reading it here. I have never heard of Jussie before this, but that isn't unusual because I'm not one who has ever been that interested in any celebrities.

Hate crimes are another matter though no matter what their names happen to be.

I am really trying very hard to understand Jussie's logic behind why he didn't immediately want to assist the police by turning over his cell phone and records.

If he had done so couldn't his GPS data help them pinpoint where it exactly happened since he said he was on his cell at the time it occurred, right? Even if not, I don't understand why any victim would have to partake in negotiations with the very police department who are trying hard to find the two suspects in order to bring them to justice.

I can't remember any other case where this has ever happened. I don't even understand why Jussie wouldnt do this right away without any negotiations required.

Does Jussie realize that if taken at face value when trying to understand why he didnt do this immediately, it may make others think he is hiding something or wanted to delete things he doesn't want LE to see?

I think that may be a huge mistake Jussie has made because it does cast suspicion on his story unfortunately.

The reason the police may be suspicious of the entire story, Imo, is due to how Jussie has handled all of this from the very beginning.

All I want is the real truth to come out whatever that truth may be.

Hate crimes are horrible depraved crimes that upset all of us, but what is also horrible is anyone claiming they were victims of a hate crime, and it was totally untrue.

I dont think there is another claim that can be made that may possibly make others erupt into violence due the very nature of the claim.

If not true, it's one of the most dangerous claims to make where totally innocent people can be targeted, and hurt even badly. Imo.

I know there have been other false hate claims made before, but I pray this is not another one, and he is telling the gospel truth about every single thing he claimed happened.

Jmo and nothing more.

To answer your question about marches - the only thing I've seen was a small rally in New York. I think most people are using their common sense based on what has been reported in the media. IMO

Rally held for Jussie Smollett in New York

LGBTQ & Black Demonstrators Pledge to 'Stand Up, Fight Back' at Rally for Jussie Smollett in NYC

Organizers from the New York City Anti-Violence League, Voices Of Community Activists & Leaders (VOCAL) and Queerocracy, among many other supporting organizations, urged the crowd to let their voices be heard on Friday night. “When queer people are under attack, what do we do?” demonstrators chanted, with the crowd responding “stand up, fight back.”

Thanks so much for the article Blondie!

Wow! Jussie Smollett and his representatives are calling the Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi a liar!!!
Then the Smollett team proceeds to name drop Superintendent Eddie Johnson.
Very interesting!

I would like to know more about the.. bleach..like..substance liquid. I have so many questions about this aspect. Was it considered bleach like because of its odor? Did it bleach or discolor clothing? Items? Was it thrown from a bottle? Which would freeze in the air in that temperature. Was it in a spray bottle? The mist droplets most certainly would have frozen at the temperatures that night. What was the liquid that didn't freeze in the air? Did the bottle say bleach? Was it in a thermos to prevent it possibly from freezing?

How did the perpetrators get a rope around the victim's neck, while he was talking on his cell phone? Was he using a bluetooth device? So that the perpetrators did not know he was on the phone with his agent? I haven't heard enough details about the attack in specific.

Were the perpetrators wearing gloves? After all, it was really cold. It must have been tough to hold the rope, and the bleach. And these must really be hateful people, to stay out in such cold temperatures waiting in the cold for Jussie to show up.

This keeps getting stranger and stranger. So a reporter from The New York Post happens upon a hot sauce bottle, partially filled with a liquid smelling of bleach, near where Jussie says he was attacked??!! A bottle 12 detectives and the FBI overlooked? Thoughts?

However, CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said: "It's unclear if that is related to the incident as it was not discovered during any of the earlier canvasses but we took it for analysis. The FBI is providing CPD with technical assistance on this case at our request. I'm not sure if the bottle went to their lab or one of ours."

Ha, Guglielmi’s not admitting to anything! He’s giving the hot sauce bleach bottle the stink eye.

This afternoon Jussie also submitted “limited and redacted phone records” from within an hour of the alleged incident.

I am curious about who he talked to prior to leaving his home, I wonder if that part is redacted?

Edit: @maggieg already posted the hot sauce story, but this is just such an interesting development!

I saw a suggestion that the “hands, feet, teeth” might have been the result of filling out a form that had various choices:

Assaulted by:

1: firearm
2: sharp-bladed weapon
3: blunt weapon
4: hands, feet, teeth

I don’t have any proof of that, but it seems plausible to me.
That makes sense, thank you!

Wait, what?! Wow. How many days after the attack was this bottle found?

I “think” it was found by reporters late last night, or sometime yesterday evening. So, 13 days after the attack.

Things that make you go hmmm...or what the fudge?!

He was also juggling a salad, a tuna sub sandwich, and according to him, fighting back with two attackers.

Why didn’t the person he was talking to call 911 on behalf of Jussie upon hearing him getting threatened and attacked? It is so hard, as mentioned above, to keep an open mind.

According to @RobElgasABC7 @ABC7Chicago twitter account:

UPDATE: After Jussie Smollett turned over "limited & redacted" phone records, Chicago police spokesman @AJGuglielmi tells @ABC7Chicago "We are very appreciative of the victim's cooperation however the records provided do not meet the burden for a criminal investigation..."
