Their PC was absolutely one of the best I've ever seen. I even liked what the Mayor said, which I usually refuse to watch! Lol

I agree with everything they said. Everything. Another example that lady justice isn't really blind. It all depends on who the defendant happens to be.

What is a dark day for justice.

What a terrible message to send to those who diligently serve on grand juries. What a slap in the face to all of them, and all of their hard work.

Jussie, and this prosecutor has made a mockery out of not only justice, but to everyone, including true victims of hate crimes.

Imo
Very eloquently said.

This just shows the Chicago is truly corrupt and the "important" people don't have to follow the same laws as everyone else. Next the FBI will be telling us that he's "too important" to charge for sending terrorist threats through the mail. The ones to truly pay for this jerk's lies will be true victims of crime. There will always be that thought "Is this just another smollett?" "Are we getting smolletted?". This is a sad day for justice.

Somehow, I don't think so. He has come up smelling of roses after diving into manure.

Could it be that this was actually a political ploy and JS 'volunteered' or not to do the event?

If people much higher up the political ladder are actually responsible for this MAGA attack, could that explain why it went away and records were sealed?

Pure speculation on my part, just wondering. IMO MOO etc

Highly possible IMO.

Or maybe everything was dropped because Jussie has become a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize for succeeding in doing what nobody has been able to do in the last few years.....uniting both sides of the political spectrum in their combined hatred. Of him.

Chicago mayor still calls Smollett story a hoax after charges dropped

Police had said actor staged hate crime

(CNN) - Chicago's mayor and the city's police superintendent reacted angrily Tuesday to news that charges against actor Jussie Smollett were dropped, with both of them still calling Smollett's claim that he was attacked a "hoax."

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel called the decision by the prosecutor a "whitewash of justice." ...
He is a Lame Duck Mayor. Now is the time he gets to speak the truth.
MOO

They must think everyone in the country are complete idiots.

No innocent person would ever forfeit their bond. NOT ONE INNOCENT PERSON would ever do such a thing. Imo

Who is Jussie, and this prosecutor trying to fool?

Grrrr

'Is there no decency in this man?' Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel condemns Jussie Smollett | Daily Mail Online

Empire actor Jussie Smollett insists he has been truthful about his 'race hate attack' from the start as he faces cameras after all 16 felony charges against him are sensationally DROPPED
  • Smollett's lawyers announced on Tuesday that all charges had been dropped
  • He was facing 48 years behind bars on 16 felony charges for allegedly lying
  • Prosecutors and police were extremely confident in their case and laid out their evidence publicly before Smollett entered a plea
  • The Cook County's State's Attorney Kim Foxx recused herself over the case over contact she had with his family in the days after the incident
  • Smollett, who has always maintained his innocence, said in a statement via lawyers that he was relieved
  • 20th Century Fox said it was 'gratified' that he had been vindicated
Speaking at a press conference with the equally enraged Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie T. Johnson on Tuesday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel insisted repeatedly that Smollett was guilty of staging a hoax attack on January 29 and that he did it for a raise.

He slammed Assistant State's Attorney Joe Magats decision to drop the 16 felony charges Smollett was hit with by a grand jury, a move he said he took because Smollett is not a 'violent threat' to the community.

Magats' decision comes amid calls for his boss, Kim Foxx, to face investigation an from the Attorney General for exchanging text messages with Smollett's relatives in the early stages of the investigation.

She tried to wrestle it out of the hands of the Chicago PD and have the FBI take it over at the request of Smollett family friend Tina Tchen, who is Michelle Obama's former chief of staff.

Foxx recused herself from the case because of it and Magats took over but the police union in Chicago says it should have gone to a special prosecutor.

On Tuesday, Mayor Emanuel said the sudden decision to drop the charges proved there is 'one set of rules for the powerful and influential'.

This will be Jussie's legacy. I hope he's happy.

Seems like he is vindicated
Not at all vindicated. He is still saying he told the truth from the start. Which is just more lying and hoaxing. He should have shut up and accepted this gift

And to think, I was always told that HONESTY was the best policy!!

Lying through his teeth seems to work for Smollett, X 2. (he said he was his brother last time.)

He is still lying. Working X3

Wait til he's all over the tv talk shows, bet he's being booked on Ellen/Dr. Phil etc.
as we post.

Disney now owns Fox Network. They have always kept a very wholesome squeaky clean posture. I will be interesting to see if this show will be renewed for a new season. They are currently No. 2 as a "scripted" show following 911. How apropos!

The Latest: Prosecutor: 'This was not an exoneration'

Prosecutors says a stunning decision to drop charges against Jussie Smollett doesn't mean they no longer believe he staged a racial and homophobic attack against him in January.

First Assistant State's Attorney Joseph Magats told reporters Tuesday that he still believes Smollett filed a false police report. He says prosecutors "stand behind the investigation and the facts." He added that "this was not an exoneration."

A minimum requirement for the dropping of charges is typically that a defendant accept some responsibility and offer an apology.

But speaking after prosecutors told a judge they were dropping all charges, Smollett conceded nothing and did not apologize. He insisted he'd been "truthful and consistent on every single level since day one."

This is like the next generation Alford plea. Next time you’re in trouble, ask your attorney if s/he can do a Smollett*

* a plea under which a defendant may choose to have all felony charges dropped and records sealed, not because the prosecutor doesn’t have sufficient evidence to place a charge and to obtain conviction in court but because defendent did some community service for a different crime committed in the past.

:D
