IL - Actor Jussie Smollett allegedly attacked in hate crime Jan 2019 #4 * ALL CHARGES DROPPED*

The Osundairo brothers would of made a lot more off this case being dropped than the actual attack ironically.

I would hope there are enough media outlets that can pay them to talk to them as by the sounds of it Jussie Smollet doesn’t pay well.

I don't know that it has been reported, but i am assuming that the charges were dismissed "with prejudice", meaning they cannot be refiled. Typically with plea deals, the charges are dismissed without prejudice in case the defendant lied or other information is discovered in the future. But with the file being sealed, we will never know I guess. The instant sealing of the file and immediate expungement is pretty clear evidence that this is rotten. And while the court clerk's office may have been blindsided by this as well, the Judge certainly wasn't. He would have been complicit in it. An truly impartial judge would have said, "wait a minute, whats going on here?"

IMO dropping the charges and sealing everything up tight will ruin Jussie's reputation more than pleading guilty and apologizing for his actions. I don't think this action was taken to save Jussie. I think this happened in order to save someone much higher up who would've been ruined if this had gone to trial and all the evidence was made known. I don't know who is being protected but IMO it's someone more well known that Jussie Smollett.

IDK who was behind it, but the whole thing was handled poorly. JMO, Smollett was overcharged (ridiculous that someone was facing 40+ yrs in prison for making up this story. Rapists don't even serve that much time), but the whole thing shouldn't have been erased the way it was. Smollet's life going forward will be unpleasant. He'll have a lot of crazy people following him around, trying to harm or kill him. So, dumb move overall, for how this was handled.

ETA: I'm also not sure this was done to cover up for someone else. There weren't any other people involved besides the two guys who helped stage it. It was handled this way, most likely, because that's how powerful people do things - the way they want with no accountability to the public. Chicago has a lot of this, but this kind of corruption is at every level of government everywhere in the US and is non-partisan.

Obama's former COS David Axelrod is displeased with how this was handled.

Except for his facial hair, Jussie looks identical to one of my grandsons. I was actually thinking last night that I was glad my grandson lives nowhere near Chicago.

What amazes me about all this is that its not just a favor to get a parking ticket dropped, this will effectively end several peoples careers, most notably Foxx, I can't see anyone voting for her again.

All we've heard about her is that she has political aspirations but I can't see Illinois voters forgetting this what made this worth it?

I'm heartened to see Rahm hasn't taken this lying down, I hope he can use whatever political capital he has left to get justice for Chicago on this case. Can the police take a civil suit for the cost of the investigation I wonder?

They absolutely can file a lawsuit against JS to recover the monumental amount of monies that were spent when 24 CPD detectives were assigned to his case for a full 6 weeks!

Imo, they will, and must do so.

Anytime an official makes an outlandish deal like this there has to be something IN IT for them personally.

Hopefully since the CPD union has now personally hand delivered their legal complaint documents to the FBI office, the DOJ will open a full investigation on Foxx, and all others who were involved in this sham to let JS go free. They too are just as involved up to their eyeballs, as much as the scam JS pulled on everyone. Both are reprehensible acts they both have willingly involved themselves in.

And YES there is a very good reason why they were willing to sell any morals they may have had for this one particular defendant. Imo

Once Foxx recused herself the proper legal thing to do is for her to appoint a special prosecutor to this case, just like she has done even recently.

There is a valid unknown reason WHY she didn't follow her own protocol. She knows why she didn't, we dont at this time, but hopefully we will at some point. All of it must be exposed.

Imo, this is far from over. The investigation going forward will reveal many things, and expose many corrupt individuals before it's over with. IMOO.

Kim Foxx cleans Jussie Smollett up, the Chicago Way

Kim Foxx’s office didn’t merely drop all the charges against Smollett, not long after Foxx began playing “Obama Celebrity Friends” with former first lady Michelle Obama’s onetime chief of staff.

Foxx’s office dropped the charges, yes. But also as part of the deal, her office wiped him clean. His record was expunged.

The stain of the 16 counts in the indictment was scrubbed right off him.

You might say Foxx bathed him in the waters of the Chicago Way, cleansed him, and made a new man out of him.

And now he’s smirking at the city, the mayor, the cops, everyone. Can’t wait until he files that multimillion-dollar lawsuit.

She needs to be disbarred immediately for gross ethical misconduct.

The complaint to the ABA needs to be filed immediately.

She will never regain the trust of Chicago's citizens when she uses her position unethically. She knew immediately she shouldn't take any call from a defendant's family member, but she did it anyway.

I believe all along even after recusing herself she maintained contact with not only with his family, but with other officials.

Imo she was telling them all about everything that was transpiring, including more evidence that had been gathered against JS.

Like the Mayor said the GJ only heard some of the evidence, and there was much more.

They need to subpoena all of her phone records, and emails, even ones she made at home.

Imo

Both Foxx and Magats are toast, politically.

And, YES, there needs to be a full investigation. The citizens of Chicago need to know how a grand jury indictment for 16 charges just vanishes into thin air.

maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but doesn't the fact that there was no deal mean that he can be charged again for the same crimes?
We don't know because the file was immediately sealed. If the charges were dismissed "with prejudice" (which I suspect is the case) then they cannot be refiled.
