Much as I hope JS gets his comeuppance, I wouldn't like to see some arbitrary actions against the Empire production based on his conduct. That smacks of social engineering that some countries and organizations are famous for, and IMO, a very slippery slope.

I agree with you to a degree. Doing the financial pressure things to accomplish the means to an end IMO is not social engineering. First I cannot believe that not ONE cast member or crew member had not developed over a five year period the ability to know whether Jussie was lying or telling the truth. All in all he is NOT that good an actor. His losing his job on Empire, not being able to hire an Agent or performing to empty seats at Arenas is a true penalty that smacks at the very things important to Jussie. Dragging him into Court simply allows himself to be a Martyr all over again. We as a Society have to stop the lock em up and throw away the key solution for every crime. We already have the highest per capita Prison population of Civilized Nations.

He did mention in a recent interview after charges were dropped that this has been one of the worst times of his life. but i could be wrong he might actually enjoy all this attention

I’m pretty sure it was very stressful- holding his breath every step of the way hoping that someone would not expose his heinous lies!

And what about his invoking how he’s happy he could uphold the side of ‘the movement’, as part of his obfuscating self ‘exoneration’?

You had better believe that unless my personal primary motive was trying to forward an agenda, I would not be referring to said agenda in my speech thanking people for letting me put a very allegedly, viscerally trying personal time in the past to rest. That, to me, IMO, veritably screams ‘activist faker before; activist faker still’.

I and others now want to shirk our civic duty to be a jurist. Why should we pay $100s of dollars to serve if a grand jury's decision can be completely disregarded by a corrupt DA? (Parking is $25/day at my court house and jury reimbursement is only $8/day.)

He’s an actor, actors are paid to act, just like he paid the brothers.

As far as back that I can go is lawyer Tina Tchen that supposedly received a call from a family member for js. Iirc 3 days after the alledged attack. TT calls KF, KF calls eddie johnson and asked for it to be moved to fbi.

All just my opinion from paying attention.

I only asked because it’s been implied that if we care about hate crimes we should all be very angry about this. I didn’t and don’t think that much of the discussion is about that, which is why I asked.
This has nothing to do with anger.

Nothing to do with “outrage.”

My only point is that this wasn’t some harmless prank, and had very serious repercussions.

I’m not losing sleep over this, and I don’t think about it when I’m not on here.

I’m not telling people how to feel, just pointing out the repercussions.

Serious ones.

Bingo!...... I just stay "detached" and use all people's reactions to it as "social knowledge" gained and entertainment given..... I cannot wait for the next chapter of this case to view......moo

So....kinda like "not inhaling?"

This woman is a joke.

I do think that this entire situation merits review by the State of Illinois licensing division and Bar Association in Illinois.

Jussie winning

He looks pleased with himself. Did he ever have all that paparazzi attention before at the airport?

He's winning like Charlie Sheen! Next, he'll be bragging about his Tiger Blood!

I think it depends on what it is, like getting free police protection (if it is happening) rather than having to hire private security is a gift, not a right and as such can be removed. Not all businesses receive equal treatment and as such if something is being done out of largesse, that largesse can be withdrawn. My parents for instance used to own a niteclub where they would do everything they could could encourage on-duty/off-duty cops to be there in order to discourage a bad crowd from showing up. We didn't have a particular right to how much LE came by when not responding to a reported crime, but we did what we could to increase free LE presence there and if we had done something bad, LE could have pulled away without our rights being violated.
Very true. If they're getting any sweetheart deals, I hope they would be revoked regardless of if this whole JS debacle ever happened in the first place. I won't hold my breath, though.

Oh, I am all for people voting with their dollars not to support JS (although that's hard for most people since they weren't supporting him in the first place), and if others attached to him suffer as a consequence, so be it. The world isn't fair. I'm just leery about the state applying pressure on the production arbitrarily to accomplish the ruination of JS (not that I think that it'll ever happen), unless the production was already getting some kind of sweetheart deal that they shouldn't have gotten in the first place.

It shouldn’t be too difficult for the City of Chicago to state to the producers that they won’t be able to provide any extra security for the production or any of it’s cast members.

I would expect the producers would need to have a lot more security on hand if they were ever going to film again in Chicago with JS on board.

If so, then let them pay for it.

I'm guessing Empire may not last all that long anyway. sometimes controversy can really boost ratings, but not usually for very long. Their ratings seem to be down. TV is a ruthless business. I'd hate to see good people lose their jobs, but it could happen. The number of victims of this crime is huge!
I only watched part of one episode. It just wasn't my kind of show.

And let JS have to face all the “little people” who worked on that show who will end up jobless because of his conceit

I truly honestly believe that one day, maybe years from now, he will believe his own narrative.
What’s frightening to me is, I think he already does.

Nigerian brothers' lawyer says they were blindsided by Jussie Smollett decision | Daily Mail Online

The lawyer for the Nigerian brothers caught up in the Jussie Smollett scandal said on Thursday that it was 'atrocious' and 'offensive' for his team to say they were wearing whiteface when they attacked him as she doubled down on their claims that the whole thing was a publicity stunt orchestrated by the Empire actor.

Gloria Schmidt appeared on CNN on Thursday night as the fallout surrounding the case gathered pace and prosecutors faced tough questions over their decision to let Smollett go scot-free.

She revealed that she was just as stunned by the decision as the rest of the world and had been in touch with the State's Attorney's office days beforehand to arrange the brothers' appearances as witnesses at the trial.

Schmidt also slammed Smollett's lawyer Tina Glandian for saying that the brothers could have been wearing whiteface when they attacked him.

It was a bizarre explanation for why Smollett told police in interviewers that one of the assailants had 'pale or white skin'.
