Too proud to ride in an ambulance? So sad -- everyone said she was such a lovely human being. Prayers to the family.

The Kustoks' children, Zak and Sarah, did not speak to reporters after the hearing, but attorney Peter Rush, who is representing the family but not the defendant, said, "The Kustok children know their father couldn't have committed the act the state is accusing him of." Rush said the family asked for privacy.

Sources tell the SouthtownStar the shooter stood over or knelt above Anita Kustok.

Sources tell the SouthtownStar that marital infidelity was the cause or led to the shooting. Allan Kustok, sources say, had maintained an extramarital affair for the past five years.

While on the phone with her, my mom asked me if I had heard about the shooting of Anita Kustok.

My brother and dad were at the Northwestern game last Saturday and my brother said, 'Dad, there's Zak Kustok'. He was sitting a few seats away from them with his new bride (that's what my mom said).

I told my mom I'd call her back in a few minutes and I came to the 'crimes in the news' forum here at WS. Sure enough, an up-to-date account of what is going on in the case. I called my mom back and read her the whole thread.

What's so sad, apart from a woman loosing her life at the hand of her husband, is that last Saturday Zak had a mom - now she is gone and for what reason?

I can't imagine the betrayal this daughter and son must feel. It will be very interesting to see this unfold. Girlfriend? Was she I'll with a debilitating illness? Sad that someone could kill their spouse of 34 years, if he did.

TWA sweet teacher, successful parent, good person.^j^

So sad, it was said she had been dead for ninety minutes before she was brought to Palos Hospital, and that she was too proud to ride in an ambulance.

Well, her husband said she was too proud to ride in an ambulance by way of an explanation for not calling one. We have no idea that she felt any such thing.

I was at the courthouse today. I looked through the courtroom door as the media and family were only ones in there. He was wearing a blue scrubs like outfit - no shackles or handcuffs. I didn't get to see his face. Saw the daughter and brother and the atty speak to cameras. They were all holding each other. They are standing behind his innocence per news sources. I found the part about him firing the remaining shots into the curio cabinet strange... gunshot residue on his hands.

Maybe it would have been there anyway.

Rumors are flying.

Don't suicidal people leave notes? I'm sure she talked to people the night before. What was she like? Did she make any plans? She was such a beautiful and loved person doesn't seem plausible. It'll all come out now.

That makes me sick!!! The family said all they could come up with was 20K per their lawyer. Looks like they found another 180K real quick.

Today's my anniversary...umm, a gun as a gift?
That sounds fishy to me.
What a horrible tragedy for the kids...I am not buying his story at all, but it will be very painful for the kids not to believe him...we've seen it many times...I just hope both kids take the same side, whichever it is, so they don't suffer the additional loss of each other...

HE BONDED OUT. Per news source in Orland.

The only info I can find is that he's in protective custody in the hospital. I don't think he's out.

I'm watching NBC news now and they are airing footage from court today. The grown children are standing behind the reporter and Sarah is smiling and doesn't look distressed - she speaks to her brother and he smiles and nods. I don't know if they're in shock or what but they sure seem pulled together considering their current situation.

I wonder if he remembered to wipe the gunshot residue from her hand right hand when he wiped the blood from her face. Bet he spent part of those 90 minutes giving her a little sponge bath to remove evidence.

I think when this goes to trial, we will hear that Allan has some anger management issues and that all was not as perfect as friends are saying.

http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local-beat/kustok-cook-county-jail-transfer-104187079.html

But a source close to the investigation tells NBC Chicago that Kustok will be transferred to a nearby facility in another county because he has "inside knowledge" of the inner-workings of the Cook County Jail.

"He knows the facility pretty well," the source said, adding that Kustok worked for the Cook County Sheriff's Office in the maintainence part of the jail from 2004 to 2007.

His job there, the souce said, was fixing and repairing locks, as well as ensuring Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance with regard to cleanliness and sanitation.

The position paid about $46,000 per year, the source said, adding that he had no idea how Kustok and his wife could have afforded their lifestyle in Orland Park.
