GUILTY IL - Antinette 'Toni' Keller, 18, DeKalb, NIU Student, 14 October 2010

SuziQ-
You are so right. The publicly available information is just enough to let people's imaginations go wild. Because parts of the story don't make sense ("death investigation" vs homicide, "human remains" vs body, remains found "early" in investigation but not announced/recognized? when found, problems with identification), one can't help but try to reconcile these pieces of info and it leads to dark, scary places. Today I am wondering if they just found a spot in the soil with blood soaked in. Is that remains ?

I am not from the area. Can anyone recommend a link for live coverage of today's press briefing ?

It wasn't streamed live this past weekend, Vresia...can't find any mention of live streaming for today.

If you have a twitter account, you can follow daily_chronicle or niunorthernstar.

I'll update as I get the info tho.

right now the DeKalb city council chambers is filling up w/ officials.

hearts go out to Keller family, want justice to prevail

interviewed 50 people, some more than once

can't disclose everything - would compromise investigation

Remains are burned? Good God. This seems to be an epidemic lately...

Farrell speaking-

We as prosecutors are dedicated to working with police to get the answers we all want

understand that the public wants answers. If and when a criminal prosecution happens, we want it to be solid

Police must be one step ahead of the game. We hope you understand that we do not want to do anything that could compromise investigation

new conference going on now....just devasting..worst than I thought...
unable to identify her remains because they were burned therefore not a viable autopsy. the are asking anyone that has information about a fire in the park that day or the next day she went missing.
they are still searching today and telling people that the park is closed to the public. do not go into secluded areas alone.
it is now a homicide investigation
they questioned over 50 people and some more than once or twice and believe that out of the 50 people they know some information about her disappearance.

buettner still speaking

awaiting further updates from law enforcement as investigation progresses..have to let investigators do their job.

  • #256
they didnt know the remains were humans remains until Saturday. clothing and other items found seperately from the remains that are consistent with her belongings that is why they made it a homicide investigation and believe it is her

  • #257
Wow. Just unbelievable and unbearably tragic.

  • #258
their focus is the prairie park area

  • #259
sounds like they did find remains sooner - and it wasn't until Sat. that they verified were human (?)
