Where is 1st and Fairview in relation to Curls address? Is it possible Curl lured Toni out of the park during daylight hours and brought her back to a remote area later?

Where are our fantatic WS'rs who can put the area's on one map? Anyone?

ETA: Welcome to WS Lissa2002

Could this be useful? My first attempt at map-making (not sure how to get an actual picture of the map to appear here on the thread, sorry!):

From this linked article.

Curl is being held at the DeKalb County Jail, in a holding cell without a cellmate, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Joyce Klein said Monday. It is not unusual for a defendant facing such serious charges to be housed by himself, she said.

I would put him in a cell with a jailhouse informant and see if he brags to or confides in his cellie.

Ok..I am new here.. but..First of all I think the DeKlab police know what they are doing. For the first week of the investigation NIU was handling the whole thing and when they figured out they couldn't handle the investigation they asked Dekalb to step in. Niu does not have the tools or resources to handle a case of this magnitude. And I do believe they found remains on the second day. But they couldn't tell if they were human or not..I think if you found human remains you would know they were human..Which makes me think some of the remains are missing..Key parts...I think that is why the were searching the river with a dive team on the 22nd of Oct..Hmmm remains were found on the 16th? Why bring a boat in? And lets not forget the dogs that lost the scent at 1st street and fairview. I would like to see the path the dogs followed from the park to fairview..WPC lives on Taylor and would have to walk down taylor and cross 1st. I'm sure thats the path he always took to the park. Maybe with key evidence on his walk back to his apt. He got scared and went south on 1st to fairview and hid evidence there. At that intersection. The river is right there. and a cemetary. and a golf course. and some patches of trees. I think he made several trips with evidence and picked them up later in the stolen car on his way outta town. I am willing to bet WBC has already talked and confessed. Thats the only way they could know about sexual assult. He had to have told them it was a rap gone bad. If you read the charges and see words like "penitration" How can you know that? unless WPC told them what happened. I'm sorry for rambling on but I think they have the right guy.

I am not convinced that LE is being upfront completely about the date of finding the remains. I wonder if on the 16th, they found a fire location ... but didn't think it was significant. Then maybe they had first interview with Billy. At that point - maybe something he said made them check the locations of fires in the park. And around the 21st they found the fire site location where her cell phone and stuff were found. I think they had the remains tested between the 21st and the 23rd to see if they were human. I agree that I don't think it would take from the 16th to the 23rd for that testing. So i think that technically..they found the fire location the 16th. But they didn't realized the significance of the fire location until around the 21st.

You rock, Joe Friday! Great time-line. The following article gives more clarity to Curl's movements:

http://www.suntimes.com/news/2847264,niu-toni-keller-homicide-102810.article

Specifically, within the article:

"Police believe Curl left Illinois Oct. 23. At some point, police alleged, Curl took his mother’s car without her permission, and ended up in Mexico. They said he came back to the U.S. on Monday.

Detectives flew to Louisiana to continue the investigation. They found Curl looking for work as a day laborer in Covington, Feithen said.

Curl was initially arrested Tuesday night in Convington on the warrant, which charged him with obstruction of justice and car theft. Authorities searched his motel room and his apartment in DeKalb, although police did not say if anything material was found. Curl waived extradition."

So Curl was arrested in Louisiana on Tuesday, October 26th (my bad, I thought they arrested him as he entered the US, not after.)

If you go to the whitepages.com and search for Curl in DeKalb You will get William Curl age 34 and a partial email address for him.. and it reads..Evilbrother6_ _@ _ _ _ and for $19.95 you can get the full address and phone number and profile..But I'm guessing the full email is Evilbrother666@_ _ _. That is a little creepy.

Welcome to WS JIMMY ROCKFORD!

Early on it was stated in the media there were 40 or 60 investigators working on the case (I forget which number exactly) which indicates more than just NIU was working the case. Initially NIU was the head or lead agency in the investigation and they later turned the lead over to DeKalb PD. Excellent theory! I hadn't thought about Curl altering his usual route but it is very possible he did. I hope LE has interviewed residents along the routes he could have taken to see if anyone noticed him or anything unusual that day.

I too agree LE has the right guy, but we all know there is a huge difference between having the right perp and having enough evidence to ensure a guilty verdict with a trial. I'm praying LE finds/has enough to ensure convicton.- and I don't have confidence they currently have enough to ensure a guilty verdict... Toni deserves no less. :praying:

I am just guessing and correct me if I am wrong but..I bet wpc was a busy beaver for 24 hours. I am thinking he was making several trips outta that park with evidence and remains. If they found the remains on the 16th and kept searching that long afterwards. If they wanted to make sure the remains were human and not animal ? WPC had to take the biggest parts out of there. And burned what was left. Leaving very little to identify. I think if police waited one more day he would have gotten all of it out of there. He probably abandoned his clean up efforts after increased police activity late on the 15th The heat of a fire has to be very very hot to dispose of bone. Even when you cremate a body at a funeral home they still have to grind some of it up not to upset the family with leaving bone frags and teeth in the ashes. I would like to see if those cameras on his 8th floor apt caught his activity for those first 24 hours. What happened to his clothing he was wearing? Fire smells..And something this brutal and sick would not be a very clean act. I pray to God we have the right man in jail and we can end this. And I think the Death penalty would be too easy for this sick S.O.B..He should rott in jail for a long long time.

I know someone on facebook said that LE was in a nearby gas station, asking questions. I bet if he stopped at any of the gas stations in town to purchase gas for using as accelerant - they will either have witnesses who sold it - or maybe video surveillance tape. What are the odds he would have a gas can and gas already, living in an apartment complex? Maybe...but seems like more likely, not. No lawn to mow, etc. Of course, others have speculated he perhaps used vodka or something like that. Which would have been less conspicuous to purchase maybe.

A friend of mine saw what he said was a body bag being loaded into an ambulance behind the Elk's Club on the Thursday a week after she was missing. That was the day they first had the divers there.

At one time, LE said Curl led them to the remains. Maybe someone else led them to the remains and was a witness to part or all of it.

When did LE say that Curl led them to remains? I haven't heard that anywhere before. Wow!! And I'm surprised they needed a bodybag from what has been said about the remains. Or do they always use a body bag, even if there isn't much of a body left? Does anyone know?

Is it possible that there is more left of the remains than LE has stated? Maybe enough to get DNA? Would they deliberately be completely misleading everyone about the extent to which the remains are destroyed? Or is that something LE just would never do? At what point to they have to give all the evidence that they have to Curl's attorneys. Do they have to be doing that as they go?

There was a man that reportedly committed suicide in the same area around October 28th, which would have been on a Thursday. This was discussed in thread #1 here Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - Found Deceased IL - Antinette Keller, 18, DeKalb, NIU Student, 14 Oct 2010

Date: October 2, 2010 Publication: Daily Chronicle, The (DeKalb, IL)

DeKALB –A 19-year-old man was found dead Friday afternoon in a remote location south of DeKalb.

People walking through the wooded area at the southwest corner of First Street and Fairview Drive near the Kishwaukee River came upon the body of a man about noon Friday, DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott said.

Welcome to WS DKanalyst. Good points. So you're thinking perhaps Curl did not start the original fire and stumbled upon one someone left burning or smoldering in the park?

yeah JoeFriday, but that was early in October. The 2nd. Are you thinking the person that saw the body bag being taken out of the park is confused on their dates?

I am sure of the date the person saw the body bag. I saw the person immediately after he saw this. I was golfing at the course near Prairie Park and he had just driven by the Elk's Club. I was then very surprised when I got home that there weren't reports that they had found her.

That's VERY interesting! So the 21st, right? Was he sure it was a body bag? Could it have been just a bag of other evidence? If it was her body, and they found her on the 16th - wonder why they would wait until the 21st to remove it. To catch the killer (curl) coming back to the scene? Or did they not really find it until the 21st? If LE found the body on the 16th, would they leave it there in order to see if someone returned to the scene - or would that be unethical and something they wouldn't do? Do you have the impression from your friend that there was more left of the remains than LE has led us to believe? Interesting!!
