GUILTY IL - Antinette 'Toni' Keller, 18, DeKalb, NIU Student, 14 October 2010

This is a little sketchy as I got it from a friend of a friend who knew an old girlfriend of his who said two things. He was abusive. She couldn't believe he'd do what he is now accused of.

I know someone mentioned it somewhere, has anyone put any thought into the possibility that he took and left a person in Mexico?

Hi. I'm new to this so pls bear with me.

I'm wondering if anyone recalls page 18 in thread 1? Someone posted a comment regarding news report on radio of a person in Malta. Because the source of this info was 3rd-4th party, the post-er received negative feedback. Later a completely separate post indicated WBC had a couple of Malta addresses. This is curious to me. Anyone else catch this and wonder.

Regarding could the trip to Mexico be quick drop and run. The question rose in me-did he take an accomplice or the murderer to MX?

Some of the acronyms are unknow to me: for example: BBM. What doesthis mean?

Thanks.

Welcome Ruby Slippers! BBM is for "Bolded By Me", when bolding part of a quote from an earlier post.

One of the rumors I heard right before Curl's arrest was announced was that 4people were involved and that some had travelled to Mexico but didn't have passports and were turned away at the border, and one was now in Louisiana and had confessed to police. However, after Curl's arrest LE did indicate to the press they weren't looking at anyone else being involved.

Still, I can't help but wonder if police won't make more arrests down the road in this case - and if maybe this is why Curl's sister feels he is "innocent."

I keep wondering about what "converted motor vehicle" means, in regards to his mother's car... Did SHE file a complaint about him taking it in the first place, and doing something to alter its appearance (ie, paint it a different color) to try and avoid detection, or did LE charge him after discovering he'd modified an interior compartment to store something or someone?

BBM, SBM

FWIW, there is a new sticky at the top of this forum that will give you most of the acronyms that are used here at WS. IMO it is a great help if you KWIM in leaning what some of the acronyms stand for. But again that is JMO. Here is a link BTW NEW Websleuths Lingo - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

OMG I just realized your probably thinking WTH, now I have to go look up what all those acronyms mean. Well if you have any questions just send me a PM. LOL, SMH

BTW, WTWS and YW

ETA: I thought Billy lived with his mother also.

I googled "converted motor vehicle" the other day and read what turned up and couldn't quite understand the legal meaning but it seemed that it was a term used by LE to describe when someone takes a vehicle and converts it for their own use. :waitasec: Why not just use the word 'stolen', everyone understands what that means.

The first thing I thought of is when you make a van into a vehicle that has a little frig and bed in the back but that has nothing to do with this because he took his mom's car without her permission.

I'm not sure, but I think it just means that someone took a vehicle that wasn't theirs to take.

If there were others involved that's even scarier imo. That means several people are this deranged and sadistic. If there's any truth to this, I hope LE is looking into what WC's name 'evil666' (not exact) that someone pointed out in an earlier post might have to do with this horrible act. It's very difficult to imagine that more than one monster would do something like this together out of the blue. Then we'd be talking about an organized group.

If there's any truth to this, you'd think LE would know for sure if he had other people with him due to the attempted/successful border crossing. Would LE keep quiet for capture purposes? Maybe I've watched too many movies but you know how a criminal will watch the news to try to find out what the police are doing, how much they know, etc. Would this be a reason why LE would not reveal that others may have been involved?

Trying to look this guy up and not much happens. He has several addresses in DeKalb and 3 in Malta, Illinois.

The site I use to check criminal history is at work, and thankfully, I'm not there . Maybe someone else? Where is Malta Illinois? Never heard of it. tia

I doubt Billy's mother was going to report the car as being stolen so LE hands were tied as far as charging him with being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

She likely told LE she did not give Billy permission to use her car to leave town with and LE ran with it. From what I read he was not allowed to take the car over a certain distance away from home. I think the charges involving the motor vehicle was one of those Hail Mary charges to pick him up on, where they throw it out there and hoped for the best to catch him if he got pulled over somewhere. Thus being before the FBI became involved and the real tracking began. Perhaps at the time they considered him as a POI LE did not have enough evidence to charge him with obstruction when they realized he had left town also, but knew they wanted him detained for questioning.

Ruby Slippers, I also wondered about some of the acronyms used. I have a personal interest in this case, since I have a child who still attends NIU, so the lack of a "new member welcome" didn't stop me from continuing to post, but I understand how you feel.

I moderate on another online community, and know that sometimes "older" members forget what it was like when they were just starting out. I hope you'll reconsider and continue to be a part of this forum, because every individual's insights, questions, and perspectives have value.

Thanks niuparent, for your perspective as a new member and as a seasoned moderator. I am only a month old here (or anywhere) and have had to dig around to figure out some of the community slang. I totally "got" (but not all of it!) the witty reparte of Joe Friday, but I am embarrassed to report in general how long it took me to figure out who the heck LE was! :-) And I still can't find the helpful "sticky" that has been referred to.

I'm also going to ask new members please take a moment to read our TOS and threadiquette. "goodbye posts, or "I'm leaving Websleuths" posts are against our rules. If you need a break, or feel Websleuths is not the forum for you, take a break or visit other forums but please do not announce it.

Also, we sometimes add humor into our posts and threads, because the nature of a true crime forum can become quite depressing at times. While it may not seem appropriate to all, if we didn't add some humor at times many of us would be in tears over some of what we read, discuss and the victims we advocate for.

If you see a problem with a post, or believe a post violates forum TOS or guidelines PLEASE hit the alert button - the triangle - in the upper right corner of each post and let the mods take care of it.

Thank you and if you have any questions please pm myself or another mod assigned to the missing located discussion forum. The mods are located in the lower right corner of each forum, and at the bottom of the main forum page under forum leaders.

Lastly, while we try to welcome new members we sometimes miss adding a welcome, and we mods don't always get to read each post here.... So welcome to the newbies and thank you for your interest in Toni's case.

Thank you,

:Welcome-12-june::Welcome-12-june::wave::newbie:s

Sometimes I think words come across harshly in writing when they weren't meant to be that way at all.

Ruby Slippers (you don't have them, do you?), I was poking around for info about Malta. I didn't realize Kishwaukee Jr. College is in Malta which puts it on the map a little more. But, other than that, I noticed lots of dating for sex ads of all kinds come up. I didn't/couldn't find a recent story out of Malta that seems connected to this case. Do you have a theory or are you aware of some specific thing/people that happened in Malta that could be relevent to this case?

It is interesting that there is a new State's Attorney for DeKalb County who takes over the position December 1st. He says "his first job will be to review the case againt 34-year old Billy Curl of DeKalb, who is charged with the murder of . . ."

http://www.1360wlbk.com/index.php?o...-id-first-tasks&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=65

I certainly hope nobody rushed to try to wrap up the case due to the upcoming election. :waitasec:

See attached link....apparently there is no real discussion as to what the new State's Attorney's stand will be concerning Curl's chance at facing the death penalty. If only Toni had such a choice.

It's the third response down -- labeled death penalty.

I was trying to answer your question you asked in a humorous way to help you understand many of the other acronyms used here on WS and to point out the sticky of WS lingo, which I posted a link to in my other post. I was not really welcoming you to WS, which I did do BTW,<mod snip>.

<mod snip> inject some humor into this. That is what I was hoping I was doing along with helping to answer your question. I guess you took it the wrong way. It is hard to read a persons sense of humor through a computer monitor. My post was not intended to poke fun at you or one-up you either.

Reading, writing and sleuthing about homicides, suicides, child abuse, missing people and the horrible things others have done to human beings can be a very depressing thing to do. Most people I think enjoy a bit of humor during a depressing or stressful time,, I know I do. <mod snip>

Again like I said in my other post to you, WTWS (Welcome To Web Sleuths) <mod snip>

I will try and keep any of my future posts to you in true Joe Friday fashion. Just the facts.
