Any mention of how old LS's brother was at the time he got married?

Abbey when you get a minute, since you have the ancestry membership is it possible you can take a look at this. Initials and an age are ok....

thanks!

This is an abstract from a FL article, 2004, about a priest accused of molestation (no connection to LS or Debbie's case)---

The alleged victim, now 29, contacted the Orlando diocese through his attorney on May 25, alleging that [Richard xxxxxxxx] had taken him on trips to Key West, Chicago, Colorado and Indiana during the seven- year period. On a final trip to Indiana, he allegedly confronted xxxxxxx, who admitted he "had a problem" and offered the teen $800 to keep quiet, according to the letter

Who does the bolded statement remind you of?

And keep in mind, most of the accusations came out 20 to 25 years after the molestations happened. We probably need to be checking the late 80s to mid-90s time frame as well.

BBM. I've gone through the bishop accountability list a few times and have looked at priest who were ordained during the years LS was in school. Still could not find anything. Did not consider perhaps someone not yet ordained may have been working with the students during those years.

Maybe we should look at some later years. Back then not only were priests teaching many schools still had nuns and brothers involved in education as well.

Shadowangel and I were trying to determine how we might come about information on ROM's whereabouts when Debbie ws murdered. Particularly whether or not he was incarcerated at the time or any employment at the time.

Shadow had a great idea of seeing if we could find the Attorney or Attorneys who represented Milone in overturning his conviction of murdering 14 year old Sally Kandel in Carol Stream, IL in Sept 72. Perhaps they would have some info on Macek they would be willing to share with us.

Some of the appeal is at the following link.

NOTE* The following link states Macek was driving a beige, not white car at the time of Sally's murder. IIRC the information he drove a white car was from Dr. Morrisons book and we found a few incorrect facts in the book. Either way, I am still interested in Macek as another possible suspect in Debbies case due to the type of wounds as well as the 2 mile proximity between where they were both found.

From the link posted above.

Luis Kutner, John Thomas Moran, Jr. (argued), Chicago, IL, for petitioner-appellant. (Richard Milone)

Off to see if I can find any contact info for these two.

  • #126
I'm only finding the above names outside of IL right now.

  • #127
Found one in Chicago. Shadow would you mind making contact? I will pm the contact info if so.

ETA: Found one of the two attorneys listed. The other is deceased.

Thanks for reminding me, I had meant to post some clarification earlier. Doc Morrison (supposedly) quoted Macek as stating he was driving a 1964 beige Chevy at the time of Sally's murder. The pic I posted is of a popular style 1964 Chevy in the original beige color. In 1964, Chevrolet used a beige they termed "Briarwood Beige" as an exterior color. This was a pale beige, as shown by the restored Chevy. In the lighting available near a school at 5:30 in the evening on a mid-February day near Chicago, this would easily be mistaken for white.

Has anyone mentioned Macek to police as a possibility in this case? I think police need to speak to cell mates and family to see what he may have said about the case if anything. Also has anyone heard from Jack?

I hope those lawyers can shed some light on Macek. Please do keep us up to date on what you learn from them if anything,Cubby.

Yes, I did in my email to the detective handling Debbies case. I forget if my comment about his reply is in this thread or part 1 but he did reply and said he would get back to me once he was able to finish reviewing Debbies case and after he spoke with Debbies brother.

Waiting patiently for his reply.
I can handle 101+ years for the Cubs.
44 years of waiting for Justice for Debbie is hard.. really hard to be patient....

No 10 year old child should ever have to wait 44 years for those who loved and cared for her, as well as us who fight for justice to get answers on what happened to her.

Praying Justice for Debbie comes soon.

I couldn't agree more. A family should not have to wait 44 years for answers in the murder of any loved one especialy an innocent 10 year old. Then again an innocent 10 year old shouldn't be murdered at all. Debbie deserves justice for never getting to go to the prom, first date, marry have kids etc.

Thanks rpiper.

I keep thinking about the known facts in this case and asking myself why.
WHY have 44 years gone by and this case is still unsolved?

Everything keeps pointing back to LS. Yes, ROM is possible, but LS's behavior that evening was incredibly odd and just-not-right. I mean we have a man who couldn't even excersize enough self discipline to refrain from bringing 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 to school- his place of employment and around children rather than leaving that at home to enjoy in the company of his spouse and privacy of his own home. That fact ( the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 ) is undisputed according to media statements quoting LS's conversations with LE. He admitted to having and bringing the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 to school, then later leaving the search to go back to the school and attempt to burn the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 in the school incincerator.

LS would not give LE a straight answer on his route home from school the Friday Debbie was murdered. WHY? If one is innocent, why would they lead LE on a wild goose chase? Why not just tell police, I left the school and went x exact route home? Why the need to NOT be truthful with police about his route home?

Debbie was one of his students, a student in his school. Why is there NO apparent concern for justice for Debbie from LS? Everything we read in the media seems to point to his concern over the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 found and not wanting to be involved. It's all about HIM, (like a few other perps we've read about here at WS). NEVER any concern about Debbie from him. Not an ounce. At least none that was reported in the media.

Lastly, this mans name has been associated with this case as the prime suspect for 44 years. One would think with scientific technology as advanced as it is today, this man would be more than willing to request DNA testing to clear his name. If for nothing else than to have his name cleared so LE could focus on the real killer if it is not LS. To have his children and grandchildren know for CERTAIN he is innocent of this crime. A grand jury who refused to indict based on lack of evidence at the time is NOT the same as having gone to trial and a jury returning a verdict of not guilty. Not even remotely the same.

My apologies if I sound angry. I AM angry. I don't care that Debbies family no longer lives in DuPage county, and I don't care that LS no longers lives in DuPage county or even Illinois for that matter. I live in DuPage county, this is MY county and I want to see this case solved. I want to KNOW that the evidence HAS been tested with todays technology and either LS is declared innocent, dna proves another perp committed the crime, or I want to see LS brought to trial for murdering Debbie if the evidence and DNA technology proves he did it. How many times have we read about parents, family, friends of abducted or murdered children *immediately* request DNA testing or a polygraph from LE to clear them as suspects or persons of interest? Why hasn't LS come forward and requested, even begged LE to clear his name when he knows this case has never been solved and he believes he is innocent? WHY?

It has been 44 years. How much more time does Debbie have to wait for justice?

I can only pray there are things happening now that the case has been re-opened that we simply do not know about because they could hamper the investigation.

44 years is enough. I pray this case is solved before we hit year number 45.

Justice for Debbie!

I'm not the coordinate a fundraiser type, but my old buddy of 25 or so years, Bill Castner, is Debbies age..... born in 55/56 and he was one of the first live disc jockeys for weddings and such in the late 70's early 80's here in DuPage.

I left him a message if he would be interested in helping with organizing some kind of fundraiser for a reward for Debbies case.

I don't have any experience in organizing fundraisers.... sure I could find someone, but would prefer sleuths help.

Here is Bill's site. He plays all the oldies.... and he is great with a hula hoop! I hope he is interested in helping with Debbies case!

Whoo hoo!

Just got off the phone with Bill- He'll do it! He will provide the entertainment...

Just need the place and the details!

Any help is great!

Whoo hoo!

Maybe this link will work for 'rural' Klein Rd. in unicorported West Chicago. The patch work black asphalt is fresh.... It was not there a few weeks ago when I first drove the area.

Interesting there is a Thank You sign I can't seem to zoom in on, on the side of the road. The TY sign is on the west side of the road.

Prince Crossing Stables, long since defunct with a homestead standing from the 1800's is right by here.

Sonny Acres farm is also right by here.....

Hi I am Luckymanuh. I have been researching Richard Macek and his assaults and murders for over 20 years now. I have always thought he was responsible for Debbie Fijan's murder and more. I think Debbie was his 2nd murder victim.
I had a sit down the Dupage County Cold Case Detectives, it's been at least 5-8 year now and there was no progress. They were VERY interested and we talked for 2 hours, emailed back and forth for months but nothing became of it. Unfortunately, the Cold Case Detectives are not given alot of hours to put to these cases. It is a shame. They are pulled off to do other things also.
I have spoken to every LEA there is in towns and states where I know and think Macek committed murders and assaults to no avail. It is like he is untouchable. I think it is harder for LE to really look at a connection in cases when the murderer is dead. They would rather have him to talk to, that is my opinion.
I must say it is refreshing that my eyes are not the only ones that see a connection. After all these years, and all the research I started wondering if I am just reaching.

Hi and welcome to WS Luckymanuh.

Interesting you came up with the Macek connection and Debbies murder. You mention you think Debbie was his second victim. May I ask who you might believe is his first?

I'd be interested in hearing your theory.

thanks!

Thanks Shadow. I think I will send my sister an email this weekend and see if she can offer any help, or suggestions. She has some experience setting up and managing conventions. And I have no clue how to do that..... I'd need a lot of direction.

This is going to take a lot for me, because she/my sister and I are not exactly on speaking terms right now. (she can be a real b' sometimes and I had enough..... but I will do this and try to make contact with her for Debbie. )
