ROM fingerprints I was told by an IL State Police Investigator and another LEA do not exist. I don't know if they wanted me to drop it or they were telling the truth. The IL State Police Investigator sounds totally shocked as I was. I called a local LEA where he was arrested for an assault to see if I could get a copy of his mug shot. How convienent they just cleared the locker full of old mug shots earlier that week. REALLY!!!???
Plus I truly think two things are at play here....#1 he is dead, so let it go, #2 there was a cover up.
Did anyone find the last name of his wife? I don't have ancestry account.

His wifes first name you mean? If so, Sandra or Sandy and Abbey5 was going to double check that on Ancestry.

It is possible some print cards were destroyed if the statute of limitations was exceeded and possibly after his death. But .... It is hard for me to believe, that NO ONE anywhere in LE where Macek was convicted saw the possibility of DNA and scientific technology increasing and wasn't smart enough to hold onto that evidence rather than discard it. It has to be out there somewhere... just a matter of tracking it down.

No his wife's previous married name. I thought I had it. I need to drag out that "box"!!! Everytime I put it away something comes up that makes me drag it out

Okay pulled out "the box". Here are some notes I have that I think will pertain to info already posted:

ROM went to St Celestine Grade School and Elmwood Park HS (never finished).

When questioned about the Sally Kandel murder he said he borrowed his BNL's beat up car. So if this is true he married somewhere after being paroled in 9/1971 and I feel before the unsolved murders started in 6/1972. He was incarcerated from 10/1968 til 9/1971 with parole expiring 3/1972 for assault and attempted murder of a woman in Elmwood Park.

I thought I had is wife's previous married name but I don't.

:waitasec: How convienint they just threw them out. Give me a break! They must take us for idiots. We were born at night but it wasn't last night. Just because the best suspect is dead dose not mean they should not want to close the case.

Oh believe me I did not believe it for one minute. I even question it and the cop just said "Sorry"!
No fingerprints, no mug shots.........oh please......the man did time!!! He died in prison!!! I smell a cover up!

You mean her maiden name? That might be on ancestry but because she was not a perp we could not post her maiden name on the forum. Someone could send that to me via pm and I will pass it along to Luckymanuh... until Lucky' has enough posts to use private messages here. Which means time for you to go play some games in the game room to boost your post count! ;)

IF it is fact, that Macek borrowed his brother in laws car and did not own it, that could rule him out as a potential suspect for Debbies murder, unless we can tie Macek to a white car in Feb 1966. DO we know for a fact that car was not owned by Macek and was owned by his BNL?

Tying Macek via Timeline to Debbies murder.

Luckymanuh posted he or she may have found info that Macek had relatives living near Debbies home. Remember we found that Maceks father died 1 week to the day prior to Debbies murder and that Dr Morrison stated in her book Maceks troubles began after his fathers death? I wonder if we can possible track Macek visiting relatives just after his fathers funeral services to relatives in Debbies immediate area. Especially if it was his fathers relatives that lived near Debbies home.

Thoughts?

Luckymanuh,

When do you think Macek started his criminal career and how many victims?

  • #171
Did she leave him after he killed her baby? All I can say is keep sharp objects away from me if someone killed my baby.
He sounds more and more good for it the more I hear about him. As stated perhaps his fathers death was his stressor. I too would like to know how many victims total there were if anyone knows or has an estimation.

Just a friendly reminder. We need to keep the discussion on Macek relative to his possible involvement in Debbies murder -at least within this thread. A seperate thread can be started to discuss Macek in general and any possible ties he may have to various unsolved crimes.

thanks!

I agree. I think this guy needs his own thread. Maybe Luckymanuh will start one. There is way more to him than just Debbie.

If Macek borrowed his brother in laws car once who is to say that he did not borrow it on other occasions? I really don't think it matters if he owned the car or not.

If Macek wasn't married until the early 70's there was no BIL to borrow the car from in 66. :)
Of course that is if the car was really owned by the BIL and not Macek.

It may not have been the same car seen at around the time of both murders, just the same color.
Do I believe what he said, no but that is what he confessed.

If Debbie's murderer was ROM I would like to know what he used to luer both her and Sally to the car? Of did he park the car and follow them then jumped them both?

  • #177
From what we read Sally was not lured to the car. ROM approached her while she was on her bike and supposedly saw her when he got out of his car to relieve himself in the corn fields. She may have stopped to pet horses in the area according to media reports.

Witness reports from media articles indicate a girl matching Debbie's description was seen talking to a man in a white car- which reportedly matched her school teacher, Loren Schofields car - about a half block or so west of Benjaman School on St. Charles road just east of Fair Oaks Rd. From what I made of it, Debbie was talking to this person from the passenger side of the car and her footprints were found at the point where she entered the car.

We know the description of the car Debbie was seen near was white, however we don't know the size, style, make or model.

ETA: Also, the corner where Debbie was found, Fair Oaks and Lies..... The Schofield family farm was located on the west side of Fair Oaks between Lies and Army Trail, or very close to Army Trail. That property once owned by the Schofield family is now a forest preserve.

Personally, I am still leaning toward the school teacher being the one having commited Debbies murder based on his incredibly bizzare behavior while interviewed by LE. PLUS the fact that he had 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 in the school. That indicates to me he wasn't even able to excersize enough self control to keep that stuff at home to enjoy in the privacy of his own home himself or with his wife. MOST normal adults would NOT bring 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 to their place of employment, let alone to a SCHOOL and around children.

I don't know how much of the two threads you have read here Luckymanuh, but as time permits I recommend reading both of them. LS was definately an odd ball fruit cake if you ask me. There is simply too much very very off behavior for an innocent person to behave in such a way when one of his students was missing and had just been found murdered.

I read alot about the teacher. I am not convinced. I would find it kind of ironic if DPC arrested a innocent man not once but twice for a murder that ROM committed.

I will have more time in the next couple weeks and will spend some of it reading both of the threads.
