I hope not. I'd like to believe that some humanity still remains here... and there is always hope those in the know might do the right thing. As long as a person is still breathing they still have the opportunity to do the right thing.

I know without a doubt justice will come for Debbie, if not in this life in the next. There's been several cold cases that have been resolved within the last year or so. Technology seems to be not only catching up scientifically but also making communication easier and far more reaching.

Thank you Cubby. I should probably stop watching the 48 Hours & 20/20 "cold case" episodes. There are times when I'll be driving down a "country" road, and I get flashbacks to Lies & Fair Oaks Road - Feb./1966. I also hope and pray that someone/somewhere that knows something, will come forward.

Kayo55. I know what you mean. There were a few unsolved murders back in 60's and 70's in the area that have not been solved. As the years pass so does the chance of them being solved.

OT I have to share, this is totally OT. I saw a bald eagle while driving on Schick road just west of Gary near the entrance to the Mallard lake Forest preserve. Who'd have thought? I think that's within a 5 minute walk from where LS lived on what is now Old Gary Rd back when he was charged with Debbie'S murder. Maybe it's a 10 min walk, but it's close.

Anyhoo, another anniversary is approaching and another year without justice. Sigh...... I can only hope once Kristy Wesselmans case gets to trial the cold case detectives can spend more time on Debbie'S case. It seems everything here in NE IL takes 5 years to get to trial. At this point I just want this case solved. AFAIC even if it's one of those cases that gets solved but the perps name is made public years or decades after the perps death.

I just want it solved.

School must be out for Benjamin this past week? So, so many changes since the 1960's. One of these days I need to get back over there, even if it tears my heart out. Thank you Cubby & Luckymanuh for your continued thoughts and prayers. Did anyone see the recent CBS "48 Hours Mystery" on Maria Ridulph - "Cold as Ice" (young girl murdered in Sycamore, IL back in the 1950's)? It was difficult for me to watch.

CBS doesn't come in for me so I didn't see the special about Maria's case.

I wish we knew if LE had DNA from whoever killed Debbie. I'd guess it could rule out LS, but I don't know that it would rule him in considering it may be explained away simply by having been in daily contact at school.

God only knows what was collected back in those days. I would hope if there was any DPCSD would have ran it already.

If I recall (?), DPCSO collected hair samples from Debbie's mother years ago. If they don't have anything on LS, they could EASILY get it if: 1) someone cared enough about Debbie's case, and 2) they'd get off their hands. Other law enforcement departments are doing it across the country. Just recently, 2(?) detectives retrieved a cigarette butt from one of the EL tracks (Chicago), and within a short time were able to make an arrest. I don't remember who, or the specifics. WTF!! Unfortunately, LS probably doesn't even leave his house if he's still alive. I think he still has 1 or 2 siblings that are still alive(?), along with 3-4 children of his own. Obviously, any DNA would have hadto have been found on Debbie's body. At one time, consideration was given to exhuming Debbie's body (check below fingernails?), but permission would have to be given. With both of her parents gone, I have no idea how that works. Would the permission have to be given by a living relative? I think Debbie has 4 siblings that are living - not sure where. Easy enough for DPCSO to figure out in less than 20 minutes.

I've always wondered about DNA in this case and how it might be explained away by cross contamination at the school. I'd think an expert would have to be able to demonstrate how the DNA could have only gotten on Debbie as a result of the assault. Also, I wonder if any DNA under the fingernails might have been damaged by the elements; snow, ice, mud.....

I suppose if the source of the DNA was blood from the attack on Debbie, that could be explained as only having come from an assault.

I know someone out there has been living with information that could solve Debbie's murder. I am asking to please do the right thing and come forward with that information. DPCS is so tight lipped, I am certain they would protect the identity of anyone coming forward with information on this case.

Dittos Cubby to your earlier post on 07/07. Should there, or is there a concern with all "sleuther's" out there, given the current "State of Affairs" in Illinois (i.e. supposedly "broke/no money")? I haven't bothered to look into any of the current budget problems (cutbacks, layoffs, etc.) with the DPCSO.
