IL IL - Debbie Fijan, 10, DuPage County, 11 Feb 1966 - #2

As some of you might know, Debbie does not have a grave marker where she is buried; although she is buried next to her maternal grandparents Bert (1917-1996) & Alma (1915-2014) J. Permission was recently given by a maternal Aunt to have a grass marker made for Debbie. These markers are 12" x 24" x 4". In no way do I want to disrespect any decisions that were made by Debbie's parents back in Feb./1966. I've reached out to former classmates/students that knew Debbie in the 1960's regarding donations for this marker, and would do the same for people that have followed this site if there is enough support in doing this. To date, I have not heard back from any former classmates/students that personally knew Debbie.

Debbie is buried between the tree and her grandparents.

Anything new with person you met "who was local" when Debbie was murdered? See my questions and post #890 above.

I was hoping to have him read the questions this past week, but some changes will prevent that from happening. I'll have to make a paper copy of the questions and pass it along that way. I won't see him again until early April, but will have the questions printed and with me ready to pass along.

I wonder if there was a "designated relative" at LS's funeral to collect and dispose of/BURN any and all cups, plates, utensils napkins, etc. that may have been used at any post funeral get together (tongue in cheek). DPCSO could have easily sent an hourly paid "plain clothed newbie" to get some familial DNA. Hmm...…...….. any Chemists or Biologists out there that can help and/or comment on the below?? Too technical for my brain. It puts me to sleep.

Recent Advances in Forensic DNA Analysis

Shame on me, but the visual of someone in one of those full body disposable coveralls collecting utensils, napkins and such as you described made me giggle.

As for the forensics, I've always thought in Debbie's case it would have to be DNA that couldn't be explained away by any transfer that may have occurred in normal day to day activity at school. What couldn't be explained away is the killers DNA being found mixed with Debbie's blood, if any samples still exist, and if technology exists to separate the two.

I was reading some earlier posts, where Cubby made mention/reference to St. Isidore & St. Edwards (#2, page 3, #53) as being part of the Rockford Diocese. If I recall from one of the obits., LS died in Rockford and is buried in Genoa, IL. Does anyone know and/or care to speculate why/how LS may have ended up in Rockford? Where he died? What hospital? Strange? Last rites? Hmm.....? Priest(s) that LS may have known from this Diocese?

Correction: St. I is part of the Joliet Dioc., St. E is part of the Rockford Dioc.

Thank you PPP. I'll keep you/WS posted here, or FB regarding a marker for Debbie. I'm hoping to get some feedback from Debbie's brother, and sisters if I can locate them. I've had limited "communication" with her brother, but no response regarding a marker for his sister.

I think some of the info in the obit was purposely incorrect because of the discussion here regarding Debbie's case.

I read the questions to my friend. He didn't recall Karin's case and said he didn't follow this case closely back then... He really didn't remember more than LS's arrest. He didn't know about LS's behavior during the search for Debbie.

Hard for me to think that LS arranged for anything, especially since he "bolted " out of Wayne Township/DPC within a few years after Debbie was murdered. I think both his wife MAS, and his mother Edna, "wore the pants" in the family. Edna, MAS, and his youngest daughter Joanna, are buried here at St. Catherine's Cemetery; along with LS. Quite possibly(?), Edna purchased these plots. His father's body was never found in Lake Atikokan (Ontario, Can.) when he drowned on 05/22/1967.

I think you're right Cubby, the obit. being "purposefully incorrect". There has been plenty of deceitfulness since 02/11/1966.

Apparently, Joanna S. also drowned - ON HER 2ND BIRTHDAY, buried at SCC in Genoa, IL. Does anyone else think this is "stranger than fiction"? I believe Joanna was LS/MAS's 5th child? Matthew, their first/only son was born about 10 months before Debbie was murdered. She babysat for Matthew. I realize most of this post might be redundant. Sorry.

Someone knows.... Today, there is still someone who has information that can solve this case IF they can find the courage to contact the authorities with that information.

Every day that goes by without providing that information to the authorities, is a day that person chooses to protect a child murderer over justice for an innocent barely 10 year old little girl.

I believe George Klein listed below (d.o.b. 12/01/1822 Germany, d.o.d 05/21/1895 Wayne Township)would have been Edna K's g/g grandfather. Edna was LS's mother. Property and land in Wayne Township owned by the "Klein Family" for >150 years. Hmm...…..Roads , etc. named after your family, "special treatment", "it's not what you know but who you know" (i.e. John S. and son/"partner in crime" delivered eggs to the local jail, and knew the system). DECEITFUL - 1) MaryAnne burns LS's clothes. 2) LS burns his /"girly mags" in the incinerator at Benjamin School 3) Judge F. is replaced at the request of LS's attorney, Robert C. I've always wondered about #3. Judge Fitzgerald's son James, who became a Bishop for the RC Diocese of Joliet, was less than a year younger than LS. James attended Marmion Academy (Aurora), where Chapski served as a trustee. Yes, this would have been after Bishop F. attended Marmion, but still seems "too close for comfort".
Is it possible that Judge F. & son knew more about LS (i.e. prior "behaviors")? Judge F. was replaced at the request of Chapski for signing/authorizing a search warrant, something Judges ALWAYS DO. I still wonder/think that Judge F. & son "knew too much", and that was the real reason Judge F. was removed during Debbie's Grand Jury proceedings.

Judge Marvin E. Johnson replaced Judge Fitzgerald. Maybe some "bad blood" between Fitzgerald/Chapski. Doug S. was the first person to meet with LS in jail, BEFORE LS became a client of R. Chapski. Doug S. (Spesia & Ayers, Joliet) was a year younger than LS. Doug S. was married to Loretta Wiesbrook. Loretta's brother Phil was married to LS's sister Mary ("keep it in the family"). The Joliet Diocese has been a client of S & A - different name now, S & Taylor(?). I realize some of this post might be duplication. It's just an affirmation for me that many people, relatives, etc. in LS's family were given "special treatment" starting the night Debbie was found (o2/11/1966), and the minute LS's father John told LS in jail to "keep his mouth shut". Any suggestions as to how any records could be found on Judge Johnson (i.e. cases/trials, judgements, etc.)? Doug S. would have been 26 when he met with LS in jail. I think he would have finished law school & passed the Bar by Feb./1966(?), on his way to work at S & A. Nepotism at its finest.

PIP = Power, Influence, & Privilege (i.e. the Kennedy family, "Schofield/Klein's"?). I watched the ABC story last night, "The Girl in the Car", and couldn't help but think about Debbie and the evidence that pointed towards LS (i.e. E. Klein S. burning LS's clothing, Edna K.S. denying access to law enforcement who had a VIABLE SEARCH WARRANT, "Father John"- Highway Commissioner with higher "political aspirations"??, LS failed lie detector tests x6, LS's attorney Chapski requesting AND GETTING a more "biased/slanted Judge", etc.)

Obviously, the "accident" in July/1969 at Chappaquiddick that involved Senator Ted Kennedy and the "drowning death" of Mary J Kopechne received much more press & notoriety than Debbie; however, another case of a guilty person "walking", and victims that didn't get the justice they deserved. One part of the story that stuck with me came towards the end, when one of MJK's cousins mentioned how people that knew something about the "accident" were "taking it to their graves".
