Howell did indeed have someone come to his place under that exact circumstance, but when checked, it was determined that this WASN’T Jacob Wheeler who had blood on him and wanted to use Howell’s phone. We don’t know who it was. But it wasn’t Jake.

WOW maybe the whole 3rd person thing is falling into place!!

WHAT???

Did he let the guy use his phone? What did he say other than needing to use phone? How many people answer their door to a man with blood on them and not ask questions???

WHY didn't someone call 911 right then???

So Strange....if he made a call, what did he say to person he was calling???

These cases are getting closer to me too much for comfort. Its an hr and 20 min to Carmi and hr 53 min to Bloomington where Lauren is missing.

Bloody man asks to use a phone
Girl dead

Maier said that his department is checking leads that Wheeler was seen AFTER the suspected time of death (the coroner’s report indicated that when Evans was found, she could have been deceased for as long as 24 to 48 hours, meaning she could have died any time between Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon), but nothing so far has been confirmed.

I thought her mother received a phone call late saturday night?

They went camping and fishing for the weekend.

- late Saturday night, they were both spotted at McDonald's, they seemed happy
- shortly after midnight Sunday morning, Jessica tells her Mother on the phone that she had just caught a fish
- Jessi was expected back at work at 5 a.m (Monday morning?)
- Truck found Monday afternoon, parked on an embankment, Jessica's body in the back hidden under tree limbs

I can't get the meth outta my head. Meth labs in houses that are confiscated suggest larger quantities of ingredients in bulk instead of buying a few bottles of cough syrup or ephedrine products. People that make it from allergy tabs & small bottles of ammonia usually mix it in empty soda bottles somewhere nobody else is but the people they're getting high with. Manufacturing meth in a house suggests to me that it's cooked on a stove & larger quantities of ammonia would be used. In such a rural area, there'd have to be a major fertilizer manufacturer around. Something's just itching me, I can't place it...

"Meth Lab" is just a place where meth is made. It can be a house, a trailer, a hotel room....they've busted meth labs in people's cars before. It doesn't have to be a huge scale operation. It's not like Breaking Bad or anything. :)

And there are large scale fertilizer manufacturers (well, distributors) all over the place here. That's why meth is such a problem here, because the ingredients are plentiful. It's nothing that needs to be thought out too hard- meth is made here because this is a farming area with lots of readily available chemicals.

In the pics on his FB he was wearing what looked like a uniform. It has his name Jake and then Brown's on left side. Former military, I'm guessing a security job of some kind.

If he had a job before he left, the company he worked for has to have a job for him when he comes back. However, he may not have had a job before he left- he would have only been 18 or 19 at the time. Maybe the military has been his career for a while; I don't know.

****As far as wild animals...besides humans, the only critters normally found in this area that would be a threat is a cottonmouth/water moccasin...venomous snake. There may be big cats of some kind....occasionally, but I would think they would be just as afraid of you as you are them. Maybe if there was food left out, etc. Since the migration of the wild hog, that may be a reality also, but I haven't lived there for very long time and hopefully you can comment more on this 88? .....AND there was a supposed sighting in Murphysboro awhile back of BIGFOOT. lol (directly west...almost to the Miss River) TIA

We have Cottonmouths/Water Moccasins, Copperheads, and Timber Rattlers. But they're not that common- I've never seen any of them, nor have I ever heard of anyone getting bitten by one. There have been rumors (which I personally believe) of cougars being in this area now, but again- no one has ever been attacked by one. We do not have wild hogs here, unless someone's farm hogs get loose. :) We have coyotes, but they probably won't attack unless you're already injured or dead.

Bigfoot is seen occasionally in Southern Illinois and Northern Kentucky. And there is the Murphysboro Mud Monster. ;) Bottom line, I don't think anyone is going to die from animal attack around here.

If someone came to my house in the middle of the night with blood on them Id be asking questions, has there been a wreck etc and called 911.

Did he report this before the story broke or after?? Sometimes people like to inject themselves in to the news. KWIM?

Little known fact: After the last ice age, the glacier stopped in S IL. All the boulders and earth it carried were dumped there causing giant hills, cliffs, etc. Beautiful....and such a diverse area of land after miles of miles of flat farmland that covers 90% of the state.

Yes, yes it is really lovely. :)

Thank you do much for all the local information. It really helps in seeing the bigger picture.

I think that's a really good question. If he had reported it right away, maybe she/they would have been found earlier?

According to the article's editors, he reported it as soon as he heard about the 2 missing people on Monday.

Also on some of his pics he has a work shirt on that says Brown's. There is a Brown Feed and Chemical that comes up for the Carmi area. That kind of fits into the meth theory.

I really don't think it's fair to accuse him of making meth just because he may or may not have worked for a farm supply company. Both my father and my father in law do as well. That doesn't automatically make them meth manufacturers.

And I doubt that anyone kidnapped him to get meth materials.

A)They would have to know who he was and where he worked.
B) They would have to know exactly where and when they would be camping.
C)It's just too complicated and risky. It would be much easier for them just to go steal some stuff themselves. Meth makers don't want to do things that put them at risk of being found out. They break into homes and businesses when no one is around to take things. I've never heard of anyone being abducted and forced to give up their farm chemicals or cold medicine.

It seems very little information is coming through MSM
Most is through this disclosure site

I realize the investigation is very fluid but some facts should remain the same

If they have verified that jessica spoke to her Mother at a certain time, that should narrow the TOD

I don't get this- we know she talked to her mom around midnight Sunday morning. So she had to die after that time. She was also seen Saturday evening at McDonald's. There is no way she could have been dead for 48 hours before she was found Monday afternoon- that would have put her death on Saturday afternoon.

I'm guessing all that info is being kept quiet as part of the investigation.

I wonder if they are POSITIVE it was not Jacob at the door that night. That's just a really big coincidence, a guy showing up blood the same night a girl is murdered, in the same area. I would think it almost has to be either Jacob or the 3rd party killer.

I agree.

Wanted to note that when I asked about supply companies or manufacturers, it was in regard to larger quantities being available - not to imply Jacob did anything like that. I'm not familiar with meth labs, only info from Philly DEA & local sP when they have information meetings for us parents through a task force held at our local hs here. Iow, they teach us what go look for so we're more aware. I'm still learning as I go along.

But in noting what I have been made aware of - usually when a house is confiscated due to meth, 9 x out of 10 it was cooked on a stove using larger quantities. The more popular lab now is the shake & bake method in a car or private area like a public bathroom stall. this is why I had so many questions regarding the area.

Thanks so much you guys for educating me, actually all of us.

Sometimes its not what you have done, but what you have seen or stumbled upon

Jake doesn't look like he'd be involved in drugs at all.
