Hi neighbor - me and twinkiesmom are "natives" too - I'm still in the area.

The Oasis conundrum is tricky - I shiver when I think of the route. He brushed past so many friends and family - like a rat. (The "empty" bit of Timber Trails there probably didn't help matters).

We're all wrecked here. as you say, prayers and swift justice.

The suspect description is somewhat similar to the one in the Lane Bryant murders in Tinley Park, near Chicaco, in 2008. Of course, that killer used a gun, not a knife, and the killings were an outcome of a botched robbery. Kelli was killed after interrupting a burglary. The extreme callousness of both crimes is of the same order. Someone who cold-bloodledly shot six women would probably not hesitate to kill a young girl. Tinley Park is also not far from La Grange. Perhaps I'm reaching here...

Lane Bryant murders:
The suspect is described as a 25- to 35-year-old African-American man who is 5 feet 9 to 6 feet tall with a husky build. He is accused of entering a Lane Bryant clothing store and fatally shooting five women during an armed robbery Feb. 2. A sixth woman survived.

Another description:
The gunman is described as a black man between 5-feet-8 and 5-feet-10, 25 to 35 years old, with a medium complexion and a stocky build.

Kelli O'Laughlin murder:
The suspect has been described, based on a witness description, as a black male with a dark complexion, 30-35 years old, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-9 with a medium build. He was reportedly seen in the Indian Head Park area wearing a dark hoodie and carrying a patterned backpack.

Perhaps it's my imagination, but I even see some similarity in the composites. The hair is different, of course, but people can change hairstyles in three years.

The suspect in custody may have called Kelli O'Laughlin's mother the night the teen died, a source said

Probably called the home to find out if anyone was there. They used dogs to track from Kelli's home to 1/2 a mile away at the Hinsdale Oasis, where a cab was then called. There is talk that coins from the crime were used in payment for the cab. The man called a POI has been described as a "parole Chicago gang banger". Also video available to LE from the Oasis 7-11. (Probably used Google Earth to pick homes to rob.)

Another odd thing:
La Grange Police Chief Michael Holub would not comment on the case but he said that "he'd imagine" police would have been monitoring Kelli’s Facebook page because of activity that occurred on her page after her death.

No, it was Kelli's cell phone that was used to make the call. The killer was taunting her mother :-(

It's true about the messages - (had some info here yesterday from "locals" and decided to put my self on time out so to speak - wanted this guy put away.)

MSM confirming - He's been charged and will be CORRECTION he will appear for bond hearing in Bridgeview 9:00 am

I'm just speechless about the cellphone. Disgusting.

I wonder if he had 2 strikes and a 3rd arrest would send him to life for prison? Either that, or just inherently evil and violent. Or both.

May God comfort her family.

According to the state web site mommy dog provided he was in prison from 5-2003 until 11-16-2010, so he could not have been the Lane Bryant killer. It's a good thought though, because anyone who could kill a 14 year old child could be capable of anything. He looks like the composite and sounds like he has a hatred for women by one of his tats, "trust no b___'s". Texting the family after killing their child is just unbelievable.
He left a knit cap in the home and DNA connects him.

Wilson has a lengthy and violent criminal history, including convictions for aggravated battery in 2001 and aggravated vehicular hijacking in 1993, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections.

He was sentenced to two years in prison for the battery charge and 7 years in prison for the carjacking, according to state records.

His most recent conviction carried an 11-year-sentence for robbery, He was taken into custody in August 2002 and paroled on Nov. 16, 2010, according to state records.

“In the last 20 years, the defendant has spent only three of them outside of the penitentiary,” Troy said.

That is the problem with these B/E guys. I don't know how many cases I've seen, where the perp had a record of B/E and ended up with a murder charge, or worse. Some of our big cases on Websleuths, the perp was known for simple crimes until........., like the Jessica Lundsford case, etc.

In California, he would have been eligible for a life sentence on the third felony conviction, under our "Three Strikes" law. He would still be in prison if Illinois had a law like this. It's too bad they no longer have the death penalty there.

We are running out of words to describe the unimaginable horrors that go on in the world now and that we read about here and elsewhere everyday.

You're right. I didn't realize IL didn't have 3 strikes, so earlier I thought perhaps that's why he killed her - if he's going to prison for life anyways, why not....

I'm from CA and remember when 3 strikes was first passed and all the uproar and controversy over it. I've always liked it though (it's not too difficult for me to stay out of prison - pretty easy actually).

Even though CA has the death penalty, come on, when's the last time it was used? It's ridiculous.
