Since Kenneka was over 18 and considered an adult, it makes sense to me that the hotel would not want to disclose information on guests, even to her parents. From a parent's point of view this seems heartless and wrong, but from a legal/business standpoint it is understandable. I have changed my opinion since this case first came.

Steven Shapiro, director of the hospitality and tourism law program at American University's Washington College of Law, said hotel managers are reluctant to intrude upon their guests' privacy, even when someone from the outside indicates there might be an emergency.
"Generally speaking, they're going to bring in the police … and let them do the investigation," he said. "Because people try to dupe them, they're generally not going to open (a guest's) door and say, 'What are you doing?' Their first obligation is to their guest, and not to the person who comes in off the street."

With hypothermia, it's fortunately not a painful or upsetting (to the victim) death, the victim will at first feel cold and shiver, but will become apathetic and fall asleep, and become unconscious before they die.

Right? I want to see that also, her friends looking for her. They said they looked, and a lot of people myself included, agree that if a friend is missing we would look for them in this type of situation. Especially if we have their belongings on hand. That said I'm sure they looked around the lobby and such, but never thought to go down to basement. That's an honest possibility. I read somewhere that when they were searching at around 8:30 the next morning, they saw an employee or someone going in the kitchen and looking around, but not searching the freezer. I will try to find the article. I think after reviewing the tapes and seeing her go in and never coming out that they did a more thorough check and that's when they found her in the freezer later that afternoon. MOO.

At the end of the day an elevator is the heart of any big building == all they really would have had to do is check out elevator videos == fast forward thro until they see someone in an elevator /

From that point on they could track her anywhere in the entire building == would have taken what 3 minutes if you fast rewind the stuff on the elevators only.

There is no way any person can navigate any building without the elevator

I think tripping can mean tripping (with lsd) or just generally in an altered state of mind. I think maybe even acting overly dramatic can be considered "tripping". I.e., freaking out. ( just my opinions).

In this CNN video, it states that the last time that she was seen was on video, as she was headed toward the freezer, at 3:32 a.m.

Combined with the freezer temps, and the alcohol in her blood stream, hypothermia would have set in quickly, and it would have been a miracle if she'd been alive at 5:30 a.m. when her mother got to the motel.

Factor in the time it would take, even if LE came on site immediately, with a warrant, for the staff to run the video from floor nine, and then viewing floor by floor, to search for her on vid, as LE searched entire place.

Even if LE got there within a half hour of Mom calling, it still has a bleak ending. If the CCTV video is just a snap to pull up, LE would not have had to spend eleven hours searching the motel.

There's talk about lack of safety, but the doors were latched, to that area, although not locked, but, there are safety release buttons in those freezers, and I'd think there would be a light switch too, but in her inebriated state, she'd not have been able to locate them in the dark. Her friends failed her and her decision to go there that night. No judgement b/c I've made some pretty poor choices in my youth, and beyond, and often wonder these days, how I managed to survive some situations (and am honestly thankful that Big Brother wasn't around every corner, my memories are enough, I need no videos).

I substantially agree with you, I guess that's why the hotel policy is to only examine surveillance if it's a police request. The problem is, police didn't want to deal with it. Why would a woman go missing without her phone or her mother's car keys? And her friends said she was with them, then somehow wandered off extremely drunk, not that she was last seen for eg, talking to a guy she'd met in the bar. That situation, to me, raises alarm bells about her welfare and is worth a check by police.

its entirety would have that kind of system?

The kitchen in the middle of the night was totally lit.

I would think a hotel employee might know where the light switches are for the entire kitchen -- and disordered guest I would think would not know how to light up an empty unused kitchen??

With alcohol in their system they don't even feel the cold and even lose the ability to shiver (iirc) as the blood vessels of the extremities open wider so there's the feeling of warmth as the blood flows to them, but the core body temp drops more rapidly. This is just from memory so I may not have that entirely correct but in the winter we'll usually have 2-3 folks pass out in their yard, driveway, etc... and it just doesn't take as long with alcohol in their bloodstream.

What I find confusing is this...

1. She's stumbling around and bumping into things in the hallway and stairs, yet when she goes into the kitchen she seems almost balanced with no problem finding the doorway like she knew where she was going.

2. Also, if she was wandering for over an hour, why are they only showing a few minutes?

3. Where's the footage of her friends looking for her?

4. When looking at the footage, it looks like the bra under the jacket is a different color than the images in the hotel room.

There are so many questions to this case I really am confused on what's true. I definitely think LE know a lot more than what's being told and the time stamp issues is probably because they are only releasing snippets. I don't think some of these are meant to be strung together. I was surprised how calm the mother was listening to the 911 call. I would also be livid that the kids took the car and left Kenneka there.

Why not call the mother and stay at the hotel until the mother got there? I really don't think it's Kenneka in all of the videos.

Where's the image of her leaving the room in the first place?

What videos on youtube are y'all talking about with audio engineers separating out the audio? I would like to listen to them and get their perspective.

• Who finally found Jenkins? How? Police have not said whether video shows her entering the freezer or whether there was anyone with her.

Unfortunately, I have seen the "train" comments in other cases. In this instance, I love they are referring to "running a train" which, my understanding, is basically gang rape. Multiple men taking turns (?).

I think this is speculation, and social media frenzy, though.
