Thank you for the article crash676.

At the end of the article it says that "Vaughn is scheduled to appear at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Will County Judge Dan Rozak's courtroom."

A decision on whether Christopher Vaughn could face the death penalty, if he is convicted of the murders of his wife and three children, could come later this month.

Vaughn, 32, of Oswego has been charged with the June murders of his wife and three children.

He appeared briefly in court Tuesday.

When Will County Judge Dan Rozak took the bench Tuesday morning, he asked the lawyers for an update on the case.

Will County State’s Attorney Jim Glasgow said he would file information on Vaughn’s death penalty status later this month. Vaughn stood in front of the judge with his lawyers and didn’t say a word.

It just blows me away about how fast these cases just drop to nothing. I know there have to be others like me out there that were horrified by it. Any locals around? I drove by a house here in Texas that had the red, white and blue ribbons on it, and it made me wonder about their home. Is it just sitting there empty?? I mean I know it is, but its just sad....

I don't think it's dropped to nothing. Just lately there are SO many cases to follow, it's so sad. If there aren't new developments, sometimes is easy to lose track. This is one I never have. From the moment it was on my morning news, I said that 🤬🤬🤬 did it.

Christopher Vaughn Is Charged In June Massacre Of His Family

Prosecutors may announce Thursday whether they plan to seek the death penalty for Christopher Vaughn, who is accused of killing his wife and three children in the far southwest suburbs in June.

Vaughn is scheduled for a hearing in Will County criminal court.
~snip~

Prosecutors from the Will County state's attorney's office have until next month to decide whether they will seek the death penalty.

The ABC station in Chicago is reporting that the DA will be seeking the death penalty. Only one of three requirements needed to be met and the DA believes Vaughn met all three. IIRC, Murder of more than one person, murder of someone under twelve and Premeditation.

In the initial hours after the shootings, Vaughn told authorities he and his family were headed to a water park in Springfield when he pulled off the highway because Kim felt sick, sources said.

Vaughn said he then got out of the SUV to adjust the luggage rack and, while getting back in, noticed his leg was bleeding and went for help, the sources said. He said he could remember little of what happened after that and, while being treated at a hospital, asked if his wife had been notified, they said.

The above isn't the same version that was reported earlier so I'm wondering just what his different statements to LE were. I'm glad to see that the state is going to seek the death penalty.

If anyone deserves the death penalty this creep does. Any man that can look into the face of his wife and three children while he shoots them in the head doesn't deserve to live. He'll sit on death row for years and that won't hurt. I would hate being locked into a little tiny cell 23 hours a day smelling the toilet. I would hate to have to go to the bathroom in front of everyone with no privacy in the least. I would just hate everything about being locked up. I sure hope he feels the same way. I hope he thinks of those innocent little kids and how much they loved him and how innocent they were. He probably has no remorse though...most killers don't. I wish they still had hanging or the electric chair :furious:

A Will County judge ruled Thursday that evidence passed from prosecutors to defense lawyers will be sealed in the murder case of Christopher Vaughn.

Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow asked that the evidence be sealed during the discovery process. Last month, Glasgow announced that prosecutors would seek the death penalty if Vaughn is convicted of charges that he murdered his wife and three children.

Lawyers for Vaughn, of Oswego, supported the motion to seal the evidence. Citing the agreement of both sides, Judge Dan Rozak then granted the request.

Sealing the evidence peaks my curiosity even more.

Anybody have any recent news on this case? Since Dp was announced it has all gone quiet, they are possible getting ready for the prelim,

if it is a solid forensic case then I think insanity may be the defence

Did anyone ever figure out what the reference to Druidism was about? I seem to recall that there was some discussion about it possibly being a misinterpretation by the media of the name of a computer company or something. I am not having much luck finding those links at the moment.

I haven't been able to find a thing - I do recall when it was first mentioned and it piqued my curiosity. We know so little about this terrible hard-to-believe-crime - I cannot wait to hear the evidence come out.

Reannan, I know it was discussed at Steve's site. Another poster found a link for a comment posted by a Chris Vaughan, asking for info about a Druid program. The last name is spelled differently, and may not be the same Chris Vaughn. But it made more sense to me that the computer Druid is involved more than the Druid religion, because of Chris' work in the computer field. That's JMO and like you haven't heard another thing about it since.

JOLIET -- Although prosecutors already have given thousands of pages of documents to Christopher Vaughn's defense team, there's more evidence in the case.

The state must finish reviewing the information before passing it to Gerald Kielian and the other lawyers working on the Vaughn murder case, Will County Assistant State's Attorney John Conner told Judge Dan Rozak. Additionally, some photographs stored in a computer that was seized from the Vaughn home will be copied and given to family members, Connor said.

Thank you for this update, chicoliving. I don't think a day goes by that I don't think about this family. Very little information has been leaked to the media. I am fascinated to learn what happened that might have led this man to kill his entire family in cold blood.

Well now, there is a motive, huh? Are these people stupid or what? How on earth would one think they could get away with something this evil AND STUPID?
