OMG poor Kyrian. He was sooooooo dang cute!! I hate to say that because I don't mean to sound as if that makes it any worse than when something bad happens to an unfortunate looking child, but he was just such a doll. Reminds me of a little girl who was in front of me on the bus, and not to sound like a weirdo, but I kept staring at her, she was so adorable. I was just fascinated by everything she did.

I hadn't been following his case but I was following the Garfield Doe case, and I am so sad about the whole thing. Obviously sad no matter who it had turned out to be. I just don't understand anyone killing a baby, and dismembering them. Someone needs to be held accountable for this. I don't know what to make of the mother, to be honest, but like I said I haven't read much about Kyrian's case. Yes, he did sound like he was in child care a lot, but at least she got someone to care for him instead of leaving him alone like the lady here who had 3 kids die in a fire when she just left them home alone to go out partying. That said, she obviously didn't care WHO she left them with, so I guess it's really a moot point. Just another person who should have just given up the child.

I agree with people in other threads who have said we need longer times where people can drop off their kids if they don't want to take care of them any more, and we need to get rid of that stigma that someone who would do that is a bad person. Then I think about it and it's so odd that people don't want to be thought of as someone who gave away their child, but apparently don't think much of being known as a child murderer. It's all confusing and sad.

I don't think his mama is guilty of foul play, hopefully the evidence makes it all clear soon. She made some very poor decisions, that's for sure. But in cases like these, it never ceases to amaze me how little blame ever seems to land on the deadbeat dad. Mom is never going to live this down, but this sweet baby had two parents who lost track of him. At least L thought she knew he was being cared for (presumably).

Regardless of whom murdered a child, a mother is responsible for her child. That includes making certain the child is safe. I want to see the murderer and/or mother held responsible for the welfare of little Kyrian. In my opinion, even if a mother places her child in the care of a sitter, she still has responsibility. I don't care after the fact about tears, I care about responsibility DURING the child's life. Children and babies have rights too.

RSBM. Someone posted this article on another missing baby thread. It's out of SC so I don't know if the same laws apply in IL, but I would be happy to see the legal guardian face some legal consequences in this case as well.

After the delivery of a unanimous guilty verdict in the charge of unlawful conduct toward a child, the judge has sentenced Zinah Jennings to 10 years in prison.
The charge of unlawful conduct toward a child involves placing the child at unreasonable risk of harm, causing harm, or willfully abandoning the child.

I think they are two separate issues. Yes, the father should have been there, and that's always shameful enough and more needs to be done about these guys who just have a kid and never show their face again. But this was directly this mother's repsonsibility. I agree it's better that she at least tried but to drop off the kid with $30 and some Pampers to a person who apparently didn't know WTF was going on doesn't show the best decision making skills. I understand she was probably desperate and she did try, an I don't think there was really foul play either, but definitely some kind of neglect. I mean you can drop a kid off with a junkie on the corner and yes the kid is in the company of an adult but how responsible are they? This person just let the kid leave with someone else, there was obviously not a lot, if any, discussion about specifics here. It's unfortunate that the responsibility falls solely on the mother in so many of these cases and that is something that needs to be dealt with but I don't think it directly relates in this case.

I agree that parents are legally responsible for their kids. I guess without knowing the specific custody arrangement, it's hard to pinpoint how liable the father is. But if there is no legal custody/support established, IMO, this guy is just as guilty as mom of abandonment, if not more so.

Gruesome - but it must be pretty difficult so ascertain a COD when there has been a dismemberment. And am I right in thinking they have not found all of Kyrian's body yet?

They have not found the torso.

Chicago police are still awaiting results from the Cook County medical examiner's office to determine how the boy died. "Once we get a cause of death, the investigation could change." "If he was killed, it's a murder investigation. Right now we're investigating it as a death."

I read this earlier but didn't take note of the link to post here, I'm glad someone did, thank you JerseyGirl!

There won't be a difference in the level of investigation due to this classification will there? It seems messed up to not treat it as a murder inquiry right now. Even when there's no body at all you can have a murder investigation, yet here there's a body that's been dismembered and part of the reason there's no COD yet is that not all the body has been recovered!

Grandma Cameshia says the family will be issuing a statment, and taking no questions, at 3:30 PM.

I firmly believe that a child's best chance is w their own parent..... now I read many stories on here that go against that belief, but in this case... kid should have been with his mom. I could never leave my 2 year old like that. I have left him for a few weekends in his life WITH THIS FATHER. I would trust my mother too, but anyone else? not for longer than a few hours.

OK, I'm not one for adding new laws. But we need a new law, one that holds responsible the person that decides to keep a child or care for a child. The person responsible for a child is responsible for knowing where the child is at all times. Responsible for medical, shelter, clothing..all those things that go with CARING for a child. Maybe different levels of neglect or abuse, I don't know. But when a child is missing, and is later found dead.

Regardless of whom murdered a child, a mother is responsible for her child. That includes making certain the child is safe. I want to see the murderer and/or mother held responsible for the welfare of little Kyrian. In my opinion, even if a mother places her child in the care of a sitter, she still has responsibility. The amount of time this baby boy had spent in childcare is not acceptable to me.

I am mad.

So sad. Why is it hard for some of these people to love a sweet baby? Mother, father, friend, etc.?

Has anyone read anything about the statement being made? I haven't been able to find anything.

I saw it... then it was gone. Sorry, I meant to come back and revise and got caught up.

The is so sad. More than heartbreaking. Even when we suspect the outcome in these horrifying child cases, it's no easier to handle when it becomes a fact. Bless his little heart. RIP precious and beautiful little angel boy.

The more I go over the meager information that we have, the more it seems to me as if people from BOTH sides of this horrendous crime were involved in some degree.
<modsnip>
2. Six days later toddlers remains are found. Hmmm.

I'm starting to think the only one not complicit was the girl friend of KH. As soon as LK texted her SHE called police, NOT Mom. Hmmmmm.
I think I'm tired, but I can't seem to untangle Mom from this mess at all. It's bothering at me something awful.
