Someone was asking about the trains--during the work week the commuter line runs all day long from Fox Lake to Chicago. There's one that departs Monday through Friday, at 8:25 AM. That's the only one on the schedule that is close to the time of the event as far as the three getting out of the area. I'm not sure how close the station is to the scene, but I think it's pretty close. The first train that arrives in Fox Lake from Chicago is at 8:36 AM.

There are many freight lines (freight only) weaving their way through Lake County, but I don't think any are real close to this area. Meaning I don't think the three could have gotten as far as a freight line and hopped on because the intense search was underway before they could've gotten that far.

CNN now - dont know who she is - but she asked what all of us have been asking each other for days - are you withholding descrptive info ) age hight etc -----LONG PAUSE------ they know more, but IMO how can you ask the public for help if all your giving the folks up there is skin color ! It was reported on the day this happened LE was withholding information. Yesterday it was confirmed the gun was found at the crime scene. The guy with the name no one can spell said it during yesterdays presser. Today he says something again about the gun being found as if today is the first day he heard it.

The info coming from LE is really starting to become circular. ay yi yi. Hinky.

Maybe the guy with the name no one can spell is being extra cautious with the chief of police retiring two work days before this occured? Maybe he is not up to speed or being kept out of the loop regarding the other investigation announced the week of Aug 20?

I've asked about the drug problem, thanks, so there is drug problems, and I agree what small town doesn't. I've wondered about teenagers, for the same reason you described. I believe it is drug related, I've been trying to come up with another reason why 3 males are hanging around a closed business in the early morning. Until more comes out, I still believe the officer knew the guys, or they are young and looked nonthreatening at first glance.

Sure. Not a major trucking route, but a medium sized road moving through light industrial/commercial areas.

He's been in business for a long, long time and relies on Labor Day weekend for a last boost to his business which more than likely takes a hit once boating season is over.

This is spot on for much of the restaurant/bar business (and others) in town. Although not particularly wealthy, it is a lakes community at it's core. Business and activity swell with boating/fishing season, warm/dry weather, holidays, and non-flooding conditions. Any of those go left of center and business suffers.

My first thought, after hearing initial reports, was that the officer found the three to be suspicious because he thought that they were attempting a break-in of someones summer home.

No real summer homes close to that area. In fact, the closest true lakefront property is probably a mile away, minus some swampy/shallow channel homes to the east, but through swamps and a sizeable road.

Who knows what's going on or if these are coincidences.

There are PLENTY of small town politics that have gone on for years, including generations of families.

But if you're the perp and you know they have "significant" video do you need more than that to tip you off? I'm not a criminal but if it were me I wouldn't wait around to see what exactly they got from the video. I would assume getting DHS to review the video meant they were on to me.

Just so you guys know DHS is the abbv in IL for The Department of Human Services similarly to how CPS here stands for Chicago Public Schools. Maybe we can use HS for Homeland Security instead of DHS?

Funny. Was talking with another local tonight who observed at least one local bar that was more full than usual. I reminded them that are lots more out-of-town 'guests' here in the middle of the week than usual. Law enforcement of every type, news media (drove past the PD tonight and it is still a CIRCUS), print media, live streamers, etc., etc., etc.

They are commuter trains so probably not going fast at all.

Other states use DHS too, but in this case it's in reference to the Department of Homeland Security. Is anyone confusing the two?

Local investigators don't have the proper equipment to see the recording, so the footage was given to a nearby Department of Homeland Security office, and police hope to learn what it shows soon.

Some context to the trains and the cement yard. The end of the line is Fox Lake, to the NW of the cement yard. It is where all of the trains coming from Chicago end up and sleep at night. The first stop out of Fox Lake on the line is Ingleside, with the cement yard about half way in between, maybe a half mile either way. There isn't room for the trains to get much speed up between those stations, unless it is an express starting in Fox Lake and expressing part of the way to the Chicago end-of-line.

Looking closely at the weekday train schedule just prior to the timing, there would have been a train coming by the cement yard at about 7:18, 7:30, and then not until 8:47 that morning. While the 8:47 has Ingleside as a flag-only stop, that train would have come past after any of this went down and was most likely stopped by that time, as Metra bussed passengers around the manhunt in that area for most of Tuesday.

I think you might have a handle on this situation. Monday will be a hard day for everyone up there. They need to get through this, take a deep breath, and wait for the outcome. It is very sad, no matter what.

This being said ... Monday is Labor Day. Chief says the beer is flowing, don't let our little problem keep you from coming up, we will be having a Law Enforcement Funeral (I hope with all the frills), but all you Labor Day celebrants .. well, come on up and party on!

My heart goes out to the family, friends and coworkers of Lt. Gliniewicz.

Let's please not forget there is no Chief of Police in Fox Lake right now. He retired two working days prior to Det. G's fatal shooting.


Since the news of the other investigation it occured to me perhaps someone did not want to be embarrassed by what might be coming out, or concerned enough to make sure someone couldn't testify in that other investigation.

That timeline is so tight. 5 days from the date the former chief retired, to Lt. G being fatally shot in a town with no history of a LEO being killed on duty.

Toss in cop killings and killing cops being a hot topic really has media pushing for answers.

Not very familiar with this vet, but hours are here and they do surgery, so reasonable to think they have overnight care.

Just watched some raw video. And the only thing that struck me, was, as a taxpayer I pay cops salaries. I get shot two cops deal with it. Same as all the others. Another cop gets shot 487 cop cars are there. Is a cops life "worth" more than mine? Just a question.....And what happens about all the crime going on everywhere when every cop within 457 miles is at the scene? Are the citiazens in those areas being protected? Its skewed
