The investigation of Lt. Joe Gliniewicz's shooting death continues as Fox Lake business owners prepare for big crowds over Labor Day weekend.
In Fox Lake, the mood is somber and people are still in mourning the death of Lt. Gliniewicz. But many area businesses still want people to visit over the holiday weekend.
Patrons will likely be about sharing their grief and stories about Gliniewicz, their hometown hero, in local bars and restaurants.
"They can all share their thoughts and tell us how they are feeling. It's good for everybody to be able to communicate with each other," said Jacqueline Homola, manager of Route 12 Bar and Grill.
Visitors will also notice more officers in the area. Although the intense manhunt is over, the search is still on for the three suspects in Gliniewicz's murder.
I think I heard him say they are taking buccal swabs of everyone they interview. Did anyone else hear that?
I thought it notable that he said that Homeland Security is having a little difficulty with 'that' video.
Good to know there are additional videos.
IMHO, Cmdr George Filenko's choice of words don't sound like hedging at all (as I would expect if they are uncertain about homicide vs. suicide). He mentioned being able to answer [a question] when they make an arrest, saying he's confident they will make an arrest, saying the videos have a commonality--doesn't sound to me like he's leaving any room for suicide.
I'm not sure what that means exactly, the videos have a commonality?
We had a pretty good 1/2 hour shower come through the area yesterday early evening. Pretty common this time of year, with high heat and humidity. His mention of being back out there several times may have been in anticipation of weather becoming a factor with the scene. And I really hope that the crime scene was meticulously investigated and documented. Hopefully footprints in the swampy escape area, etc. JMO

He used the word 'commonality' in answering a question about whether the suspects can be seen in all the videos. He was obviously choosing his words carefully and would only say that the videos have a "commonality". Obviously, we can only speculate about what "common" element is seen in each video that ties them together. Hope that helps.
