Did anyone read all of the statements made in the link I posted earlier? Hate to say we have a lazy press..... but what else is new.

Link again as there is more info to read for those interested. And a few screenshots. I am curious what others think regarding some of these statements. There is more going on here..I feel... it will be interesting to say the least.

It won't air until Friday according to this link.

Sounds to me like she has been prepared for them to rule if a suicide and she is getting out ahead of the news cycle.

“I wholeheartedly believe he was murdered,” Melodie Gliniewicz says through tears in an exclusive interview with Crime Watch Daily set to air Friday.

I don't blame the family for doing that. I would probably do the same in spite of all the facts that might indicate either an intentional or an accidental suicide. The disbelief must be overwhelming for them.

I still can't help but think had they been more low-key they might have gotten away with this..... It won't really matter what she thinks though to the insurance.

According to CBS, they have swabbed ALL Fox Lake officers, a month later.

Is the makeshift memorial on Grand Ave still.there?

  • #726
Has this been leaked somewhere this evening or in an article?

She added: “There were two shots. Somebody that is going to kill themselves is not going to shoot themselves twice.”

This is one of the reasons I believe the LT's suicide may have been unintended. I believe he MIGHT have been trying to fake an encounter by shooting his vest and somehow, he missed the vest.

Either that, or he may have started out with trying to fake an assault on himself and decided at the very last second (as backup was arriving) to just go ahead and take himself out.

Knowing more about the exact angle of the bullet's entry and the distance of the weapon would shed even more light on the possibility of one over the other.

I don't know... didn't someone just post the memorial in front of the station was gone? Also, they mentioned keeping memorial in one of those agendas for a bit longer. So much info..

What do I think? When the "officials" start focusing more on the schools, and less on an officer getting gunned down by three assailants...............well...................It's all who you know...............and priorities.

As far as I know the pd isn't on Grand Ave.

One other thought to your theory. We have discussed about him being ambushed, we have discussed how he was vetted and his wife said he was a firearms instructor. He was not Bush League on the weapons by any stretch. I think it's been hard to wrap head around unknown offenders attacking him based on the information that has been released thus far. However, what if it ended up being someone known to him, he may not have been on guard and even could have come closer in contact with this person, perhaps even in the department? Which could also explain the strangeness of what we know. Does this make sense? Just food for thought.

I agree. Seemed to be more about how everyone reacted rather than what they were supposedly reacting to. But that seems to be the way this was from the start.

Fox Lake PD is on Rt. 59, about a half mile south of Grand Ave, but not on it. And yes, the memorial is gone.

Yes, it is strange indeed. No mention of the alarm you would think we would read based on unknown assailants. Which makes me think they have an idea as to what is going on. They are discussing a lot of hurt right now, seems deeper than just Lt. G being gunned down. Whether that be suicide or this was an inside job? Was it one of their own? And they have this knowledge? I only posted some of the commentary, the rest is in the link.

I'm pretty sure that the suicide determination would trump the accidental determination in such a case...at least with respect to whether or not an officer died in the line of duty.

I can't figure how you call in suspicious behavior on three people. Claim they are running away, then you ask for backup, realize at some point you know one of them and don't call off back up? Especially if it was another officer. That makes no sense.

Would the person not run away from a gliniwicz to begin with because he could say he to was checking out suspicious behaviours too.

CBS 2 news report on 10:00 news was on-scene at Fox Lake PD by the same reporter whos Tweet I posted earlier. Seems they are the only ones with a tidbit to report (all LE swabbed) and to truck an hour and a half out from Chicago to do a live report (also noting the absence of the memorial).

new nugget Wednesday: Fox Lake investigators say, “for elimination purposes” all Fox Lake officers were swabbed this week.
But why now? CBS 2 Security Consultant Ross Rice weighs in.
“There’s been no matches so this would be the next logical step just to rule out any type of involvement by somebody on the department,” said Rice. “Again, I think it’s more a routine matter than any indication that there’s foul play involving a fellow officer.”
Detectives say DNA from an unknown individual was discovered in several locations at the scene on September 1. The quality of one of the samples is good enough to run through a database.
In an email to CBS 2, Lake County detective Christopher Covelli said: “We have taken over 100 DNA swabs from individuals we’ve conducted interviews with, first responders, and anyone who could have potentially had contact with Lieutenant Gliniewicz.”

You would think this would have been done asap. I understand some that may not have been responding officers but this couldn't be routine to do a month later. Strange as all get out.
