Too much is at stake for a cruise line to be accused of being unsafe.

An estimated 27.2 million will cruise globally in 2018. $126 billion in total economic impact and 1 million jobs paying $41 billion in wages and salaries were generated by the global cruise industry in 2016

“I just dropped my child! I thought there was glass! I thought there was glass!” he yelled,

I just dropped my child is the first thing he says.
There was no audio with the video. Supposedly no eye witnesses. Who said SA yelled these words? Let me guess, Winkleman?

Duplicate post. Last two days self duplication.

Holy crap.
Sounds like he's lost his case and the parent's lawsuit right there.
Maybe her parents wish he wouldn't say anything ?
But shut his yap ?

Why didn't he say her name, as in "Chloe" ?
It was his step granddaughter.
Inconsequential detail.
But still.

No. It’s a very telling detail. Perhaps Winkleman had something to do with it bc he’s been griping that SA thought there was glass. His entire theory rests on that fact.

But while we’re talking about glass, last picture I saw CLEARLY shows that the open window from which Chloe fell was not a vertical level. It’s designed and built to angle out from bottom to top. In other words, SA had to lean out twice as far to see activity below. He wasn’t standing straight up looking out. He had to have been bent over to stick his head out of the window. Chloe had no way to fall straight down onto the floor by the windows. Chloe was already hanging/looking outside AT AN ANGLE and didn’t stand a chance of falling straight down back inside the ship. She fell straight down from the bottom edge of the angle of the window, whether window or railing.
Edited to add: that angled design would make it much easier for travelers to view the outside from BEHIND the safety of the glass. The angle mimics the bending over a traveler would have to make to see more of the dock and surrounding areas. IMHO.

Depends when they boarded. It could be at high noon bc there’s a little bit of a shadow under her shoes. And that may be why there are very few other children around. Just boarding. The family might have been one of the first to board. Bc of Chloe. Like airplanes. Babies toddlers and the elderly get special priority boarding.

However, it certainly is not a picture of her just prior to her death as reported.
ITA but it sure fits their narrative that the open window was near the pool area where she was playing - it was provided by the lawyer in any case
I’ve never ever seen the pool area that empty except when running at 6:30am On the top deck above pool area

@1:30 this is where I think Chloé is standing.
From the kids running in the water you can see is only inches deep but the timber ledge down to the water is about a 1’ drop.

@:20 you can see most windows are open, this is usual. IMO.

BBM So, the fact that this can be seen quite clearly by reasonable humans, how does one try to believe SA didn't realize the window was open?

From what I read, The parents, grandmother and older brother had gone to the buffet. I am not sure where that is located though.

What about the other set of grandparents? Where were they? Early articles said that the family group consisted of Chloe and her parents, the 10-year-old brother, maternal and paternal grandparents.

Right, their proclaiming this as Chloe’s last picture before her death is sensationalistic.

Wanna know something really weird? You asked ‘staged’?
While I was sleuthing this picture I noticed Chloé isn’t casting a shadow even though she is standing in the afternoon sun.

I wonder if she was slippery from being wet or wearing sunscreen

Honestly, I don’t make too much of the fact that the rest of the family was in a different area. I’ve vacationed before with family or a group of friends, some who have had very young children. We each would have taken turns caring for a young child or baby, allowing a break for the parents. Maybe Chloe was restless or fussy, not ready to sit down for a meal.

Or did he stand her on the rail and those water shoes were wet or slippery.

This s a promotional video. I don’t think it’s taken the day of the fall.

I understand that, of course. I'm trying to reconcile the fact that only SA was minding Chloe in the early hours after the family group embarked the ship. Maybe if someone else had been watching Chloe, or maternal grandmother had been with her husband, this horrific accident wouldn't have happened. Chloe was probably enchanted by the shipboard water park, and Grandpa probably wanted to smoke, so they ended up away from the rest of the family, and tragedy struck.

I think it all boils down to her banging on glass walls. This was an opportunity to do it on a ship. Except there was no glass this time.

ITA - I’m convinced of this - but I doubt we will know unless they testify - which won’t happen if there is a plea

I respectfully disagree. The “banging on the glass” wasn’t mentioned until the family lawyered up. And now the attorney has dropped the “banging on the glass” to saying it was about the view.

I believe grandpa chose the open window on purpose to provide a better view than looking through the tinted windows.

Exactly!

That doesn't seem to be an issue as of now. It's "He wanted to get a better view"."I think it's pretty obvious why they leaned forward, and that would be so that you could get a better view," Winkleman said."
Video shows girl's final moments with grandfather before cruise ship death

It seems so inherently reckless what they're own lawyer is now promoting. So according to their own lawyer immediately after going to the waterpark - most likely getting those shoe wet (in addition to herself maybe being wet and slippery from sunscreen) - SA stands Chloe on a rail and leans forward with Chloe and then immediately after that puts her on the rail and leans forward again. I wonder if the sitting on the rail was done so quickly because she was half-dropped and slipping and then that turned into a full drop and slip because SA kept doing the same thing in leaning them forward rather than taking Chloe off. Even if that window was closed, Chloe could have fallen backwards and died from a head injury if SA let go as he ended up doing. The lawyer is putting out misleading photos of the wall of windows rather than the pictures that Chloe's dad took, but the lawyer's wall of windows picture actually emphasize that her shoes could have been wet which I hadn't thought of before the lawyer drew attention to it by the photo. Standing an 18 month old on a high wooden rail after being in a waterpark, what could possibly go wrong...
