"Lost Everything"?
Chloe Wiegand's family condemns the release of a video that shows moments toddler fell to death from cruise ship - CNN NN Updated 2:32 AM ET, Thu December 19, 2019
--------------------------------------------------

@oviedo :) sbm Yes, a good article ^. Also from same article:"Kimberly Wiegand says she supports her stepfather and Chloe's grandfather. "...We do not support this misdemeanor charge or any charges whatsoever," Wiegand said. "Our family has already lost everything; ..." bbm

Mother's dramatic declaration makes me wonder about her remaining child feels.
"If Chloe was 'everything' then I must be nothing at all, not meaning anything to her." ???

I think a husband can understand/reconcile this kind of declaration, but IDK about a child. jmo
And he has to pretend Grandpa did nothing wrong and he shouldn’t be angry with him but with the boat.

Letting her run ahead was unsafe enough, let alone stick her out the window. What if someone turned around and stepped on her or knocked her down, spilled a drink on her or burned her with a cigarette if that's a smoking area. There were a lot of idiot moves IMO.

I had not previously seen the video that shows SA stooping by the post while Chloe headed towards the windows. He paused there for several seconds before going after her. I can't believe that he let Chloe get so far away from him in the crowded bar area of the deck  I wonder if the parents knew that Grandpa was not with Chloe constantly while in his "care"? SA was clearly not looking after his grandchild! I suspect the real reason that the family is angry about the video being made public is that it shows just how careless and reckless Grandpa's actions were!

Winkleman also went running to the Indy Star, presumably in hopes of getting the hometown advantage back. Here's what the reporter wrote:

Police in Puerto Rico initially said Anello told officers he lost his grip while holding the girl outside the window on the 11th deck, the Associated Press reported.

In an Oct. 28 news release, Quiñones and other officials said Anello "negligently exposed the child to the abyss through a window on the 11th floor of the cruise ship."
Chloe Wiegand death: Video viewed by IndyStar shows final moments before cruise ship fall
No mention this time of South Bend police chief Scott Ruszkowski disputing the circumstances, like what was reported last July.

Indiana msm appears a bit less protective of SA now that the video is out. JMO.

Begnaud now seems to have slightly altered his description:
David Begnaud on Twitter
In it he claims he/reporters have been consistent in the description but now he adds "... he reached down and picked up Chloe, held her above the railing and then past the railing and she fell."

That's not my recollection of his original description. He said "over" not "past" the railing. It's a minor change of words but the implication is hard to miss.

Yes. Begnaud is backtracking because he’s been been caught altering the facts. Seems he was was “encouraged” to side with the family for gain (whether it was to get complete access to them, for publicity, money, who knows) IMOO.

Seems the family wasn’t the only one with vested interest in keeping that video away from the public.

I’ve watched the different views a few times now, and although fuzzy, the way he lifts her up SO high and over the railing and out ....I can’t believe what I’m seeing.

He should have been charged more harshly, and no pleas offered, IMO.

I cannot imagine why anyone would do that to Chloe. There is no reason, no excuse. He is either the stupidest grandpa alive, or he did it on purpose. I hope he goes to trial.

and if you have ever stood on the 11th deck of one of these ships and looked out - leaning over makes me queasy - and I'm secure that unless I'm hopping up and into that window ledge, I am safe. and he dangled her out that ledge quite possibly throwing her up and catching her in the "act of games" - it's frightening and unfathomable IMO. I will take a pic to help see the height at which this was done. it gives me chills.

BBM.

Exactly, just posted the same. Wondered if it was just me. Does he have a cig or a vape in his right hand?
I can't tell if anything is in his hand. If he had a cig, how could he pick up CW two-handed with a lit cig in his right hand?

Agreed.
Extremely poor choice of words.

-10:38 - "He picks up the girl and puts her on the wooden rail. She is seated in front of him..."
-10:22 - "Right now we're going to see that he holds her OUTSIDE of the window... 5, 6, 7 seconds pass and there she goes..."

-10:18 is the exact moment he can be seen holding her (literally) OUTSIDE of the window pane.

Pages behind on the thread, can somebody link the video which this is taken from please?

Thanks for reposting this link, @MsMarple !
Almost forgot where this was said.
"Exposed the child to the abyss..." It means he dangled or hung her outside the window.

It doesn't mean she leaned forward and fell.

In the video from the DM link-- what stood out was how he leaned forward himself, chest out over the window ledge, after she fell --as if to watch her plummet.
Strange and horrifying.
And nothing like the lies Winkleman or anyone else has been spouting.

Maybe he'll come to his senses in a PR prison ?

I know, it makes me ill thinking about it. Poor little Chloe, she had to have been terrified. How could anyone be so cruel and reckless. Or, was it more than reckless?

How on earth can this mother still support the grandfather and not agree with the criminal charges after seeing the surveillance video? The man was clearly not properly caring for her child and held Chloe out an open window 11 stories above a concrete dock! How can KW not see how careless and reckless SA's actions were? There is something very strange going on here o_O Why is KW protecting the man who obviously did not protect her child?

Until one day, when she decided to bang on a breakable window or aquarium and of course didn't realize the danger in doing so. Because for some odd off the wall reason, she was encouraged to partake in such a dangerous pastime. Hmmmmm. Never have I EVER encountered ANYONE who thought that babies or children banging on glass was in any way shape or form reasonable. But then, never have I ever heard of a toddler flying out the window of a cruise ship. Until now.
Not only that, and semi-besides the point, but why would someone encourage a toddler to go around banging on windows while other people are trying to enjoy a cruise? They'd have been getting one heck of a side eye from me, but then again, my parents were always fussing about not touching glass.

Screenshot from the video posted to the DM. This is prior to SA lifting Chloe. My general observations of the video.Video shows grandfather drop toddler to her death from ship | Daily Mail Online

First, this is the so called “children’s play area”? Mmmmkay. I see a bar right there.

anyway the sequence was interesting and obviously very disturbing

At . 21 secs he is leaning so far forward his head and neck is fully out the window

.39 sec he lifts her

At .50 sec she is completely out of window/out of view

At 1:05 his right hand is back in view of camera. But between 50 to 1:05, it appears his left arm is extended much further than his right (holding onto with only one hand?)

At 106 his head is back in view. He is no longer leaning over the safety railing and at this point the bystander activity picks up

And from here until 1:28, when he collapses to the floor, he appears to be -rocking like - in and out of the window frame.

It sure looks like she was never seated on the railing - but ON the window ledge. Hence - how could he possibly not know the window was OPEN?

MOO with some righteous anger. So reckless grrr

I don't think she was trying to bang on glass. I do see her arms reaching out (in the rear-view video). It reminds me a little of the scenes in "Titanic" where they are reaching out feeling the air. SA would have been talking to her either about the view or the sky or the breeze. She is reaching forward but I don't think this was about banging on anything. MOO. I hope there are other angles, and I believe there are because they said "multiple angles."

About David Begnaud, I got the impression from the day of the interview, which was when he reported that now they had seen the video in real time and reported that it was over 30 seconds, that he was implying how it really happened and that it was reckless. Until yesterday, he was the only reporter other than the Puerto Rico reports, who was implying that what happened was reckless based on what the video shows.

Because if she accepts that he, and not the ship, is responsible, then she must accept that her choice (if it was) also played a part - that she let this reckless man that was married to her mother watch her baby. We must ask ourselves, how much did she know about his irresponsible behavior? Even if she had no idea about his citations or no experience observing him with Chloe and catching him in a few oopsies before, she will second-guess herself and come up with all the What Ifs in the world - "What if I just took her with me to deal with ship business?" Etc, etc. And that may be absolutely too much to bear. It assuages her guilt, which she must have, to think that the ship is at fault. Denial is a powerful protection mechanism.
