It's peculiar that he was of a mind to take photos at all.

Yes some pointed out that as LE he'd be trained to take photos to preserve evidence.
And yet there's something odd about it.

The incident happened in the late afternoon. Only the crime-scene area was cornered off with police tape (not the whole deck). If AW started taking photos to preserve evidence per his police background, he would have surely gotten one in daylight of the intact & window-open crime scene. The photo taken by AW that was broadcast to multiple media outlets was same day, at night, all windows closed.

I don’t think that choice was arbitrary.

I think highly suspect considering the photos (by father) would only be taken for three reasons: 1. To try to prove fault on RCCL’s part. 2. To try to prove fault on AS’s part. 3. To try to prove AS was not at fault. Obviously #2 is not the reason because they have never blamed the father. Presumably, considering AS nor family were not cooperating with investigator for whatever reason, investigators were probably not talking charges at that time so, unless the father thought (or had reason to believe) AS would be charged, there was no reason to take the pictures for that purpose (#3). For that reason and because the father “altered” the perception of the scene, it would be a logical conclusion that he was taking the photos to try to prove RCCL was at fault.

Here is another thing that bothers me. The parents were so quick to announce their intention to file suit (within days of the accident). They hadn’t even discussed with the cruise line the possibility of a resolution...aka...”fixing” the windows. I could see if they had approached the cruise line to discuss possible problems/resolutions but they didn’t; they had already decided to file suit. So in my mind, it is not about “fixing the boat,” it’s about seeking a monetary award. JMO

I guess I was thinking some of the things reported may or may not turn out to be true, like her screaming as she fell, and this awning report, we just don’t know all the facts.

I looked up the 2 innate fears. Interesting study - even children 6 to 14 months would not venture past a place where it appeared that they would fall.

I’m confused SouthAussie, there was no close awning when the photos of Chloe were taken on the dock.
Two photos I recall, 1) with a sheet 2) with a blue shelter over the crime scene.

I say this with the greatest respect for this sweet little angel.
We are here to sleuth.

Yes, I have seen the blue shelter pic (in this link). It may be that the awning is closer to the ship than the blue shelter is. Don't know.

I think that there was very likely witnesses on the dock that viewed what happened. I can't imagine that the dock was witness free at a busy before-sail time.

I also thought it was mentioned in the lawsuit against RCCL, but reading it again this morning, I don't see it in there (on Scribd). I thought he added her manner of death in more detail to drive home the point of her horrible death.

”The case also claims a 46cm gap between the wooden railing and the open window made it even more difficult for the horrified grandad to reach over and grab the toddler as she plunged to her death.”
So they are saying the gap between the rail and window was so large that it made it difficult for him to grab her once she fell.... so then they are basically saying that he had to intentionally place her that far out for her to even fall. They are not helping their argument if you ask me. JMO

In video ( presser) Chloe’s father cries so very hard as the mother gets through the reading of her statement...I said days ago this felt like IMO to show unity,pushing ahead,holding Cruise line feet to fire. But it looks like Chloe’s father is falling apart.
IMO I don’t see how they can keep this up. At some point all humans need a rest from intense stress. I agree with others. That if they had quietly dealt with the horrid mistake the grandfather obviously made..instead of this blame shifting fairytale that Wink is weaving...it would start to take a natural grievance course.
Painful to watch.

I think that idea was something that someone here speculated on after hearing about the app.

Chloe died on July 7th and the parents went on tv on the Today Show on July 22, which means it had to be planned even before that. That is only 2 weeks. They probably had the help of medication to cope and be able to get through this, but that was so soon after losing a precious baby; they had already had to have her funeral, deal with returning to the US, and the awareness of the investigation. One thing is, everyone knows you don't have to rush into this kind of a lawsuit anyway. It could be one driving person's way of coping with this terrible event, but still none of this rush helped anything really.

Yes, and IMOO SA had to work pretty had to dump Chloe out that window. He had to put some real muscle on it. The La Comay video clearly shows him lift and forcefully throw her out that window. That's why it was made available for everyone to see, it's unmistakeable and proves all SA's dumb excuses are lies.
