SA was looking out with his neck bent looking straight down, couldn’t have done that with a closed window, plain and simple. And then his arms extended even further while holding Chloe out. He needs to be put under the jail.
Oh, I totally think she was outside the open window. I just thought the Conway cohost was tall and lanky so it seemed like his very long arms were really far out. I don’t know how tall SA is; he’s definitely not lanky though.
In the demonstration, the guardrails didn't look that high, on the ship, I believe that they are almost 48inches high.
Yes, I wondered too about the exact measurements. In court, it would have to be exact. For the best review, I think the jury would need to be on the actual boat at the actual window. You wouldn’t be able to measure/feel the wind in a courtroom.

And they refuse to watch the footage that shows exactly what happened. Delusional?

I wonder how the mom would have reacted if she actually returned while SA was holding Chloe outside an obviously open window 11 stories up. Because I would have flipped the f out. SA would never be alone with my children again. Would she have been as supportive?

“Oh, you thought there was glass? It’s all good, common mistake! Many people dangle children at arm’s length outside windows hundreds of feet in the air. The fact you didn’t smash her into the window means nothing, it could have been a special extended bubble window.”

There has been a mingling of governmental and private support for the Wiegands in their lawsuit that has made me uncomfortable. For instance, the family received a police escort from the airport to their home when flying back to the US. Yes, I realize the father is a police officer but that is a private use of public resources and is inappropriate, especially considering the lawsuit. Sam Anello, as has been discussed, has a Fundrazr for his travel and legal expenses, separate from the husband and wife’s Fundly, which raised something over $22k. Sam’s Fundrazr has a little over $6k and one of his contributors is St Joseph County Auditor’s Office. Again, this is public money being used for a private individual- who is accused of a crime. And this contribution may give the appearance that there is government support in the lawsuit against RC. Remember when the Wiegands were going to hold their press conference announcing the lawsuit at the police station, but there was some kind of outcry about that being inappropriate that caused them to move it to another location? It’s important that there be transparency in any criminal or civil procedure and yet this appears to be a bit muddied.

Oh, yes. The title on Fundrazr is "Please Help Sam Fight Prosecution" and the ask is worded thusly: "Last week, Sam was arrested on $80,000 bond and charged with negligent homicide by Puerto Rico's Justice Department. Sam is a hard worker of modest means and needs help with legal and travel expenses to fight being prosecuted for a devastating and horrific accident."

Oh. My. God. The man of modest means who flew to Puerto Rico and was departing on a cruise? Help him, he’s poor!

I agree with devastating and horrific but this was purely of his own making.

It angers me when I see fundraisers such as this, when there are so many worthy charities which subsist solely on donations, with volunteers not making a salary. I volunteer with one. The fundraiser for the son to travel abroad with his hockey team was entitled and ridiculous.

Snoods, I agree about Sam's Fundrazr. The separate Fundly, which benefits Chloe's parents, not Sam, has raised over $22k for "money to help the family with funeral, travel, and legal expenses." From what we've read, Royal Caribbean gifted them with hotel rooms in PR and flights home. They apparently opted for cremation, much less expensive than burial. Unsure of their legal expenses, as lawsuits like theirs' are customarily on contingency.

I wouldn’t be able to watch the video either if I was Chloe’s mom. It’s horrible enough as a stranger.

No one is asking them to watch her impact on the dock. But watch the videoSSSSSS from the walk across the H2O zone, through bar area, up and over railing, out of the window,
and when she slips/ drops/ dangles/ gets tossed up and out of his hold/ catch/ grip on her. They are accusing RCCL without reviewing all of the evidence. Deliberately avoiding the review of, disclosure of and proper presentation of exculpatory evidence. FYI, that is against the law. Civil or criminal. And they both know better.

The commenters under the LaComay video on YouTube are outraged, some claiming that it was deliberate and even that it had to be planned. I used Google translate to read the comments as they were in Spanish, but I don't think the translation could be too far off.

Maybe as more videos are released and the truth shown, public outcry will push for more criminal charges.

THANK YOU. It’s not a breeze. It’s wind.
It’s strong enough to lose the hat on your head while standing there at departure time.
A breeze might move the hair on your head if you have any, but to pull off and lose a hat you put on your head presumably to block the sun?

I remember that article and the one it criticized. I thought the original had merit and remember thinking that it could be argued that more people have fallen off the ship from balconies than open windows on the pool deck.

Now, 6 months later I'd add the question: What would we all think if someone's loved one fell overboard from a balcony and the person helping them up onto the balcony railing claimed they thought there were ledges under balconies to catch them? Should balcony railings have signs? Silly, huh?

Does anyone know the time frame RCCL has for answering the civil suit?
20 days after being served unless agreed to an extension - we just got served and I calendared 20 days

I had not seen this particular episode of La Comay, dated December 18, 2019. The hosts use a model of the railing and window and a doll for demonstration. Demonstration begins slightly before the 45 minute mark.

I added this to the media thread - thanks for posting it

So can falling from an eleven story window onto the pavement. I doubt an examination of the body would have provided them with any helpful information.

2005 Man Overboard on Honeymoon
@oviedo sbm I vaguely remember this ^ in the news yrs ago.
What a story. 2015 article, 2005 wedding.
..

There is a pretty decent Lifetime made-for-TV movie that is loosely based on this incident.

Deadly Honeymoon (2010)
A couple marries in Hawaii, and embarks on a honeymoon cruise where things go terribly wrong.

I wish it had sub-titles
I just discovered, in watching this video that if you turn on "closed captioning" ( the little button marked cc) and then go to your settings, you can set the closed captioning to English, effectively giving you English subtitles.
To be honest, the translation seems a little off, as some of what was written (captioned) didn't make perfect grammatical sense in English, but still it is a very good way to at least get the "gist" of what they are saying, if you don't understand Spanish!

The little body of a toddler who fell 11 stories onto a concrete dock would not have been a pretty sight. Were her parents asked to identify the body?

My guess would be that in those first frantic moments they would have wanted to see their baby girl:(. You are not rational in panic mode. My own opinion.

I don't think an open casket would be an option. Horrible.

This is what I meant in my above post. I don't know if Chloe's parents would have even wanted to see their little girl after what happened. I would never have wanted to see my child in that condition. It must have been gruesome.
