Very much agree.

He sounds sincere and forthright. No reaching for answers, he just answers, no hesitation.

The chuckles aren't nearly as bad to listen to as they were to read. They don't strike me as bizarre like they did when I was reading.

I buy less than 1/2 of what he is saying. I just can't listen to anything that family has to say!

We don't know how forthright he is, yet. Not enough facts...

True. I am only about halfway through the recording. Just getting to the laughter (annoying to say the least) He does seem very distanced considering the reason why he is there. :detective:

I think Lee, Jesse doing their own *investigations* isn't helping things much.

Lee laughs at everything, sheesh. I wonder if he is riding the 420 train too. :woohoo:

I am having a hard time with something in the interview of Lee.
Cindy and Lee are relatively knew to the nightmare of Caylee being missing, no arrest yet or anything, Casey's in a room with Lee. Cindy enters ...

How they get from Cindy asking Casey, "What have you done"

to Cindy asking Casey, "Who took her?"

I find these things very odd also. Cindy automatically asks "what she has done, then goes onto who has her." Does not add up.

I can't put myself in LA's position. I mean this has to be really hard to deal with. In these interviews, he sounds to me like he doesn't believe Casey at all. He appears to be really trying to help LE and it seems like he wants Casey nailed and NOW.

I know he's clammed up and had all kinds of outbursts, but how does someone act - what emotions do they go through when their whole family is disintegrating before their very eyes?

I think Lee has always been the voice of reason in that household and when he moved out, all stability vanished. No mediator, no confidante. The family just turned on each other and there was no referee.

He does sound detached but I think that's the only way he can get trough this - just slogging through what he's found out from his investigation. Not standing up for her except where there appears to be the possibility of a truth or semi-truth from Casey. Most of what he says is not from Casey - it's from others.

He just speaks like someone older than 25 to me. If he doesn't sound like a grieving uncle, I just think the whole family expected him to hold it together while the rest of them twist off. JMO

Has anybody in that stupid family shed ONE tear for poor Caylee????? It sure doens't seem like it. They all seem to be so non-emotional about her!!

  • #68
I think Lee is very cooperative and is telling the truth......and nothing but the truth in this audio. After Baez got ahold of this family is when the lies began. They are all he has for his defense. Typical in any tragedy like this. Nobody in that family believes Casey, but they are going to protect her wether we like it or not.

Snipped for space
How they get from Cindy asking Casey, "What have you done"

to Cindy asking Casey, "Who took her?"

without stories and explanations to swing Cindy and Lee from 1 thought process off in another direction.

I am really puzzled by this in Lee's accounting still.

It is like we go from point A to point C but we are not privvy to whatever is point B.

Agreed. That has confused me as well. It's like they gave Casey an "out" somehow.

imhoo he is playing to what LE is dishing..... LE wants Lee to feel all chummy and like 'one of the force' and Lee is acting accordingly with matching lingo. again imhoo. He sounds to me like he is giving a change of shift report to the next set of cops coming on duty instead of an uncle who has a missing niece with death smell car, etc, etc, etc
nurse that is just what I thought!!!!!

Also, how does she say "we could have found her a month ago" before she knew she had been missing a month?

I am listening to Lee belly laugh while describing the odor in the car and how his dad had to drive in it on the way back home from the tow company. wow...

i dont think lee sounds older than his years, i think he just sounds like a member of law enforcement, just like casey does. they both use "official" and investigative sounding words.

vehicle instead of car, residence instead of house, conveyed instead of said, etc.

it makes both of them sound detached and somewhat rehearsed, in casey it makes her sound guilty and insincere, with lee it makes him sound detached and somewhat inappropriate. but i dont think he is lying or involved.

I am still into the first round of listening but I will listen again of course.

It is hard for me to believe because:

1.Cindy speaks: "Casey, what have you done."

2. Cindy speaks: " Who took her?"

There is , if I remember, no time that is filled in with explanations, theories, or things being heard.

It is a gigantic leap from Harm Avenue to Kidnapping Lane without an interconnecting street to get us there.

I therefore think some things may have been said which have been omitted on purpose. I will definitely listen again later.

I'm about 1/2 way through Lee's audio interview. He seems almost too eager to help LE and be "one of the guys." He acts like he's part of the investigative team. But, I'm concerned about Lee's lack of emotion about all that's happened up until the time of this interview. This is his niece that's missing, his sister that's guilty.

I'm thinking they got that from their dad being a cop once. I imagine that's probably GA's normal speech.

I also can't understand the lack of emotion. ARGGG

Remember: this is July 23rd, probably the 4th or 5th time LA was interviewed. Reading thru the interviews, the detectives often say, "okay point 8, we talked about x y z..." I am pretty sure this is after they get their initial interviews and they want clear, recorded answers to their questions - if you did this the day of an event and the person was super emotional and crying, you wouldn't be able to hear what the person was saying.

Also its much more helpful to the prosecutor and detectives if the person thinks everything through and talks everything through before they record / sign / enter this into public record. Wouldn't want someone getting accused of perjury because they were crying and said saturday instead of sunday... IMO
