Does she actually victim blame children who survive “conflict”?
Moo..I am not sure what she is trying to say. The reality is a child will either grow up with fear or anger if growing up in a conflictual relationship. Whether parents or culture..moo

It is KhAmenie.

To avoid confusion with Khomenie many years ago
Not with Komenhei in power.

They’ve been under an arms embargo the entire period of his rule.

No legal or open U.S. arms sales to Iran have occurred since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
• After 1986, U.S. policy has been strict embargo and sanctions on Iranian weapons procurement.
• Any weapons Iran has obtained since then have come from Russia, China, North Korea, domestic production, or illicit networks — not the U.S.

Carney has weighed in to support nuclear weapon prevention, and to express regret - referencing the failure of international order. Canada wants a rapid de-escalation, which means In My Opinion he does not agree with 4-5 weeks of bombing Iran, or longer, and ground troops should not be in the region while eliminating nuclear weapon threat.

"Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada has long supported efforts to dismantle Iran's nuclear program, but called for a "rapid de-escalation of hostilities" to save civilian lives.
...

"We took a position because we view the nuclear threat and the export terrorism of Iran as one of the greatest threats to international peace and security," he added. "In that limited sense, we support this action. That is not a blank cheque, that is not us participating, that is not us asking for something in exchange for that."
...

Carney said Canada "supports efforts" to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. "Canada has long supported the imperative of neutralizing this grave global threat," he said. "We take this position with regret because the current conflict is another example of the failure of the international order."
...

Carney added that Iran's regime is "the biggest exporter of terror in the world" and had "murdered scores of Canadians." "Nobody has a civil nuclear program that's buried a mile beneath the desert," he said. "That is a threat."

Not sure if this was posted on this thread or not. NPR online March 3, 2026 article by The Associated Press (AP) entitled ‘Melania Trump presides at UN Security Council meeting as U.S. attacks Iran’:

That presiding over the UN Council IIUC occurred yesterday, March 2, 2026. The timing of that is interesting IMO. MOO

Khameni's son named as successor? Anyone have a link?
The senior clerics responsible for selecting Iran’s next supreme leader met on Tuesday to deliberate, and the son of the slain former leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, emerged as the clear front-runner, according to three Iranian officials familiar with the deliberations.

The officials said that the clerics were considering announcing that the son, Mojtaba Khamenei, would be his father’s successor as early as Wednesday morning but that some had expressed reservations, fearing that it could expose him as a target for the United States and Israel. They spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive internal deliberations.

Trump to see first test on war powers

Ana Faguy
Reporting from Capitol Hill

For the first time since the strikes on Iran began, US President Donald Trump will be tested on whether he has the authorisation to launch the military action.

The vote on the War Powers Act has been scheduled in the senate for 16:00 local time (21:00 GMT) on Wednesday.

The measure is aimed at limiting Trump's ability to wage military operations - but given the growing number of unknowns surrounding the conflict and previous lack of authorisation during other administrations, it will face an uphill battle.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio argues "there's no law that requires the President to have done anything with regards to this".

"No presidential administration has ever accepted the War Powers Act as constitutional - not Republican presidents, not Democratic presidents," he added.

The senators who introduced the measure - Tim Kaine, a Democrat from Virginia, and Rand Paul, a Republican from Kentucky - have said they want it on the record how senators feel about the administration's action.

"[Senators will] Vote on whether we want to send our own kids – our own sons and daughters, the most precious resource we have in this country – into a war that could end up like the wars we have just recently exited in the same region,” Kaine said.

And, if it is not off topic, now Pakistan is bombing Afghanistan. This is a disturbing development.

Pakistan does have nuclear weapons.
That's over this, and the fact that the Afghans have decided that they don't recognise it anymore.

Bit ungrateful of the Taliban to start attacking Pakistan as the Taliban was pretty much invented by the Pakistani intelligence services!

It is possible that they are seeking a reason that will satisfy most US citizens. Typically, the longer a war and killing goes on the less favourable it is. imo

Only 27% of Americans approved of the U.S.-Israeli bombing of Iran, while 43% disapproved, according to a new poll by Reuters/Ipsos conducted over the weekend, before news that six U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iranian retaliatory attacks. And it’s not the only poll.

From the article you posted. "Some 27% of respondents said they approved of the strikes, which were conducted alongside Israeli attacks on Iran, while 43% disapproved and 29% were not sure. "

Except for his own words.
“Peace for Israel means security, and we must stand with all our might to protect its right to exist, its territorial integrity. I see Israel as one of the great outposts of democracy in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can be transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security and that security must be a reality.”

Martin Luther King Jr
March 28, 1968
That quote is about peace. This thread is about a war.

MLK would not support US or IS actions in the past several days.

Agreed. Interesting that is the website I go to for up to date news, even about the United States. Ironically.

US consulate in Dubai impacted: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said all personnel are accounted for after a drone hit the grounds of the US consulate in Dubai. A source told CNN it was suspected to be Iranian. The US earlier closed embassies in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Lebanon and warned Americans to leave some countries in the region.

• New strikes: US President Donald Trump said most of Iran’s military installations have been “knocked out” and that new strikes today targeted Iranian leadership. Israel also struck a compound belonging to a group responsible for electing Iran’s next supreme leader, an Israeli source told CNN.

Iran death toll: At least 780 people have been killed by US and Israeli bombing across Iran, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported, citing the Iranian Red Crescent.

Defense executives to meet at White House on more weapons

The Trump administration plans to meet with executives from the biggest U.S. defense contractors at the White House on Friday to discuss accelerating weapons production, five sources told Reuters.

Companies including Lockheed Martin and Raytheon parent RTX, along with other key suppliers, have been invited to attend the meeting, the people said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the discussions are private.

The meeting underscores the urgency felt in Washington to shore up weapons stocks after the Iranoperation drew heavily on munitions.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 and Israel began military operations in Gaza, the U.S. has drawn down billions of dollars' worth of weapons stockpiles, including artillery systems, ammunition and anti-tank missiles.

The conflict in Iran has consumed longer-range missiles than those furnished to Kyiv.

At least one of the people said the gathering was expected to center on pressing weapons makers to move faster to boost output.

Lockheed, the Pentagon and White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment. RTX declined to comment.

I'm super comfortable with judging a fanatical religious regime that rapes, maims, commits infanticide, tortures, beheads, and calls for the complete destruction of anyone who refuses to take the knee to their crummy god.

It's called discernment and good judgment. So, yes, I'm going to judge.

But that's just me.
And I should then be free, based on what you said, to disagree that it's ok to tell women what they should do with their bodies or tell others what gender they relate to. Religious extremism exists in many countries, including the USA.
I don't think religious beliefs should be allowed to influence government policies relating to all citizens of a country. I believe in free will and democracy.

Of course it follows on that I also hate the Iranian regime! I judge them as well. Religion, no matter the religion, should not subvert human rights!
