ISAAC - Information and Support for Gulf Coast Residents

Sorry guys, lol... At least we had a hurricane here. Websleuths first storm. Hurricane Raine..lol

First feeder ban about to hit my area, very humid and getting really dark

To fix the margin...please delete your image...Here I have reposted it smaller for you

A little ot...but can you imagine living back in the day before you could see or know when it was coming? One day it's nice outside, then all of a sudden it turns bad.

That picture looks like a beast.

I am getting pounded with a hard rain and strong wind gusts now. Everyone stay safe in the crosshairs of this storm. I am on the outside getting feeder bans.

Take care, Raine. Here in New Orleans we're feeling those steady breezes that say storm's a-comin'.

I live outside P'Cola and it's just been overcast and a little breezy. Lots of houses and businesses are boarded up. My boys and I are planning to go to my Mom's house cuz she has a great generator, but I think we'll go in the morning instead of tonight. She lives in the neighborhood next to us.

Bessie, how did your area do in Katrina?

Are you in the city or way out?

In my experience, hotels are really flexible with their "no pet" policies during evacuations. I remember one time we evacuated and the hotel had a no pets allowed sign on the front desk. And, everyone was hanging out in the lobby, several with their dogs.

I have a friend who takes care of horses. During Ivan she was helping her clients evacuate the horses. She had 2 with her herself and was taking them up someplace in MS and their truck broke down. The horses ended up staying 3-4 days tried to a tree in a Holiday Inn parking lot and they didn't even allow pets:)

That is so uplifting to see people acting humanely in crises!

Just wanted to poke my nose in and say you're all in my thoughts...I'm at the tail end of this storm, up in Illinois, and am traveling back sometime on Saturday to CA...if the plane can leave, that is.

Since it's just going to be a weakening tropical depression, unless we get flooded out, I should hopefully be able to get on the plane.

Hugs and prayers for all folks and critters in the path of the hurricane...

Best-
Herding Cats

I am following this thread and information of Isaac on the news to find out how WS Peeps are weathering the storm!

My thoughts are with you all!

It sounds like you have all prepared for this...

:praying:

Stay safe everyone! My thoughts and prayers are with you all :heartluv:

Prayers for all of you in the path of Isaac-try and check in here when you can so we know you are alright!

In the city, on relatively high ground near the river. This area didn't flood when the levees failed, so we were able to help my family members who did lose their homes.

Just heard the first big whoosh outside.

My husband and I had planned to leave around 4 am, but we made a decision tonight to hunker down and stay put. My son and a couple of other family members will join us in the morning, and we'll stick it out together. I'm sure we'll lose power at some point, but otherwise, I'm not too worried.

5 am EST update:
Tropical Storm Isaac: 4 AM CT, 70 mph winds, 977 mb, moving NW at 12 mph. wxch.nl/r1tYL6

Tropical storm warnings extended to Cameron, LA. Tropical storm watch now just E of High Island, TX. #Isaac

Jim Cantore@JimCantore

At 977mb #Isaac is one of the lowest pressures I have ever seen for a Tropical Storm at this latitude

Jim Cantore@JimCantore

I still believe #Isaac will be a hurricane today and have MAJOR impacts in MS, LA, AL and FL then inland flooding could be a huge deal.
MT @HRD_AOML_NOAA: NOAA42 just finished 1st pass thru #Isaac center. Radar shows SW side has many narrow rainbands merging into SE eyewall.
