Isaac has hit WS and blown our margins. :giggle:
In my experience, hotels are really flexible with their "no pet" policies during evacuations. I remember one time we evacuated and the hotel had a no pets allowed sign on the front desk. And, everyone was hanging out in the lobby, several with their dogs.
I have a friend who takes care of horses. During Ivan she was helping her clients evacuate the horses. She had 2 with her herself and was taking them up someplace in MS and their truck broke down. The horses ended up staying 3-4 days tried to a tree in a Holiday Inn parking lot and they didn't even allow pets![]()
In the city, on relatively high ground near the river. This area didn't flood when the levees failed, so we were able to help my family members who did lose their homes.Bessie, how did your area do in Katrina?
Are you in the city or way out?
Tropical Storm Isaac: 4 AM CT, 70 mph winds, 977 mb, moving NW at 12 mph. wxch.nl/r1tYL6
Tropical storm warnings extended to Cameron, LA. Tropical storm watch now just E of High Island, TX. #Isaac

At 977mb #Isaac is one of the lowest pressures I have ever seen for a Tropical Storm at this latitude

I still believe #Isaac will be a hurricane today and have MAJOR impacts in MS, LA, AL and FL then inland flooding could be a huge deal.
MT @HRD_AOML_NOAA: NOAA42 just finished 1st pass thru #Isaac center. Radar shows SW side has many narrow rainbands merging into SE eyewall.

Just heard the first big whoosh outside.
My husband and I had planned to leave around 4 am, but we made a decision tonight to hunker down and stay put. My son and a couple of other family members will join us in the morning, and we'll stick it out together. I'm sure we'll lose power at some point, but otherwise, I'm not too worried.
Here's a web cam on Bourbon Street. Great viewing if you have high speed.
