"Türkiye is putting pressure on the US.

'The US must put stronger pressure on Israel and recognize Gaza as the land of the Palestinians.
Without this, it is difficult to count on reaching an agreement in the Gaza Strip',
said Turkish President
Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday, quoted by the Daily Sabah daily.

'We should hold talks with Egypt and the Gulf countries and put pressure on the United States together',
Erdogan said.

He assessed that Washington has the 'greatest influence' on the government in Tel Aviv.

During another speech on Sunday, Erdogan addressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. -
'Remember that your days are numbered'

- said the Turkish president.

Earlier - intensifying his rhetoric after initial offers of mediation between Israel and Hamas - Erdogan announced that he would no longer hold talks with the Israeli Prime Minister

Brazilian police on Sunday arrested another man suspected of links to the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, bringing the number of detainees suspected of involvement with the group to three, two sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

The name of the detainee, arrested in Brazil’s capital Brasilia, was not revealed, but his alleged link to the Iranian-backed group was already under investigation, sources said.

Last week, Brazil arrested two people in Sao Paulo in an operation to break up a suspected Hezbollah cell allegedly planning attacks on Jewish targets in the south American nation.

A Turkish vessel carrying materials for field hospitals arrived on Monday in Egypt’s port of El Arish, near the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip, a port official said.

A Turkish health official told AFP that the vessel was carrying “materials, generators, ambulances to establish eight field hospitals”.

The Turkish official added that Ankara had requested Cairo’s approval to build the field hospitals in El Arish, which lies about 40km (25 miles) from the Rafah border - the only crossing to Gaza not controlled by Israel.

“We received the green light from Egyptian authorities. We will set up these hospitals to the areas shown by the Egyptian authorities,” the official said.

Hopefully these will be up and running quickly.

Mobile hospitals greatly improved during COVID. Better, quicker infrastructure and assembly. They are amazing!!!

"Germans' concerns about the war in the Gaza Strip.

Not just terrorist attacks.

Most Germans fear that the war in the Gaza Strip may lead to serious terrorist attacks in Germany.

Almost 60 percent of respondents think so.

In a survey conducted by the public opinion research institute YouGov on behalf of the German Press Agency,
59 percent of participants said that they considered terrorist attacks with many fatalities to be very or rather likely.
Only 27 percent of respondents believed that terrorist attacks in Germany were very or rather unlikely.

26 percent say their main fear is that more refugees from the Middle East will arrive in Germany.

Meanwhile, only 17 percent of survey participants cite rising anti-Semitism in Germany as their main concern.

This is followed by deteriorating relations with countries with Muslim populations (10 percent), fear of rising energy prices
(8 percent) and growing hostility towards Muslims (6 percent).

39 percent of respondents believe that the German government's position on the war in Gaza is balanced.
Meanwhile, 32 percent believe that the government is too supportive of Israel.
On the other hand, 7 percent of poll participants say Germany is too siding with the Palestinians.

Following the terrorist attack by the Islamist Hamas on Israel on October 7, which, according to the latest estimates, killed approximately 1,200 people, the German government assured Israel of its full solidarity and emphasized the country's right to self-defense.

Unlike other European countries, Germany has yet to criticize Israeli forces' attacks on Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which also killed many civilians."

Summary of the day so far …

It has just gone 3pm in Gaza City and in Tel Aviv. Here are the latest headlines from the Israel-Hamas war

  • Israeli forces have reached the gates of Gaza’s largest hospital as hundreds of patients, including dozens of babies, remained trapped inside. Thousands of people have fled al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, but health officials said the remaining patients were dying due to energy shortages amid intense fighting between Israeli troops and Hamas militants. At least 32 patients, including three premature babies, had died over the past three days, Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry said.
  • There are between 600 and 650 inpatients at Shifa, as well as 200 to 500 health workers, and about 1,500 displaced people seeking shelter there, according to information shared with the World Health Organization. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have repeatedly said that Hamas operates from bunkers underneath Shifa. This has been denied by Hamas and hospital staff.
  • The Palestine Red Crescent Society said that an attempt to reach al-Quds hospital from Khan Younis in order to evacuate patients has been abandoned due to “continuing shelling and shooting”. A convey accompanied by the International Committee of the Red Cross was forced to return due to the dangerous conditions.
  • The IDF issued an update on its military operation in Gaza, saying its forces have conducted 4,300 strikes to date. It claims to have struck “approximately 300 tunnel shafts” and “approximately 3,000 terrorist infrastructure sites”. Israel’s campaign was launched on 7 October after the Hamas massacre inside Israel’s border which killed 1,200 Israelis. The Hamas-led health ministry in Gaza has claimed that Israel’s military action in the Gaza Strip has killed more than 11,000 Palestinians, including more than 4,000 children. It has not been possible for journalists to independently verify the casualty figures being issued during the conflict.
  • The UN’s refugee mission in Palestine has reported that one of its buildings in Rafah has been struck by Israel’s navy. Rafah is in the south of the Gaza Strip, within the area that Israel has insisted that Palestinians move to. In a statement, UNRWA said there were no casualties. It added that UN buildings and facilities within Gaza currently host nearly 780,000 displaced people, saying “they should be protected at all times”.

A Turkish ship carrying materials for field hospitals has arrived in an Egyptian port near the Rafah border crossing.

The vessel brought generators, ambulances and other medical supplies to the port of Al Arish, with the aim of establishing eight field hospitals, according to AFP.
It is the first such aid vessel to arrive in Egypt since war broke out on 7 October when Hamas launched a series of attacks on Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking more than 200 hostage.

The World Health Organization says Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City "is not functioning as a hospital anymore". Other facilities are reporting similar situations - a lack of supplies and power, and an ever-present threat to life due to fighting.

A Turkish health official told AFP that Ankara had been given green light by the Egyptian authorities to build the field hospitals in Al Arish, which lies about 40 kilometres (25 miles) from the Rafah border.

" 'Basta, basta, basta!
Pope Francis' appeal.

During Sunday Mass in Vatican, Pope Francis appealed to the faithful to help the wounded and the population in the Gaza Strip and to release the hostages kidnapped in Israel.

He emphasized that weapons will never bring peace, and among the hostages there are many elderly people and children who need humanitarian aid.

'Basta, basta, basta'
(enough, enough, enough)

- said Pope Francis on Sunday, appealing for an end to the fighting between Israel and Hamas.
During a meeting with the faithful during the Angelus prayer in the Vatican, he appealed for help for the wounded and the population in the Gaza Strip and for the release of hostages.

'Thoughts are directed every day in connection with the very difficult situation in Israel and Palestine.

I am close to all those who suffer: Palestinians, Israelis.

I embrace them in this dark moment.
And I pray for them',
he said, addressing the thousands of believers who came for the midday prayer.

'Let the guns be silent.
They will never bring peace.

Let the conflict not spread.

Enough, enough, brothers, enough!

Let the injured be helped immediately in the Gaza Strip,
let civilians be protected,
let much more humanitarian aid
be released to this exhausted population.

Let the hostages be released, many of them elderly and children'
appealed Francis.

He added that:

'Every human being,
whether Christian, Jew or Muslim,
from every nation and religion,
is sacred and precious in the eyes of God and has the right to live in peace'.

He emphasized that the faithful must not lose hope and should pray that:

'the sense of humanity will prevail over the hardness of hearts'."

The UN Palestinian refugee agency’s fuel depot in Gaza has run dry and within a few days UNRWA will no longer be able to resupply hospitals, remove sewage and provide drinking water, its chief said on Monday.

The agency chief, commissioner-general Philippe Lazzarini, told donors on Monday that it had been slowly emptying a fuel depot on the Israeli border containing strategic reserves.

A request to the Israeli military to replenish it had gone unanswered, he said. “That reservoir is now empty,” Reuters reports Lazzarini said.

“If we project out a couple of days, by 14 November this will severely impact ambulances and major hospital operations. Some of them have a bit of solar, but it is marginal” he said.

UNRWA says it is sheltering nearly 800,000 people, or about half of the total number of Palestinians who have fled their homes since the Israeli military campaign began on 7 October.

UNRWA’s fuel is also used to remove hundreds of tonnes of solid waste from increasingly overcrowded camps in southern Gaza, and Lazzarini said these services would soon halt.

Without fuel, desalination plants used to provide drinking water to support at least 290,000 people will also stop on 15 November, he added.

“So the situation is very dire now and it’s about to get much worse,” Lazzarini told donors.

What's happening at key hospitals in northern Gaza?

As we've been reporting, there has been fighting around several hospitals in the north of Gaza. Here are the key things we know about the main ones:

Al-Shifa

The World Health Organization (WHO) says Al-Shifa hospital - the Gaza Strip's largest - "is not functioning as a hospital anymore". It says there is "constant gunfire and bombings in the area" around it in Gaza City.

According to hospital staff, three babies are reported to have died, out of 39 that could no longer be given intensive care treatment because of fuel shortages.

Israel has repeatedly denied accusations its forces have attacked the hospital, but has acknowledged clashes with Hamas fighters in the area. It says Hamas has a command centre under the hospital - which the hospital and Hamas both deny.

Al-Quds

On Sunday, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said Al-Quds hospital had run out of fuel and was no longer operational.

On Monday, the PCRS said there was "heavy gunfire" and "bombardment" in the area and Israeli tanks and military were stationed near the hospital "from all directions". It said medical staff and patients were trapped without food, water or electricity and a convoy accompanied by the Red Cross to evacuate them halted because of dangerous conditions en route.

Rantisi and Al-Nasr

The Rantisi Specialised Hospital for Children and the adjacent Al-Nasr facility in the north of Gaza City were evacuated on Friday save for a handful of patients and staff. Rantisi had Gaza's only paediatric cancer ward.

An Israeli tank has been filmed operating outside the Rantisi hospital.

Mohammed Zaqout, the director of hospitals in Gaza, said yesterday the evacuations "left dozens of sick children on the streets without any medical care" and the fate of five children left in intensive care was unknown. On Saturday, Israel accused a Hamas commander of preventing about 1,000 people from leaving the hospital before it was evacuated.

On Friday, an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman said Israel did not fire on hospitals - but would "do what we need to" if Hamas fired from hospital grounds.

Doctors refuse to leave at-risk patients at Al-Shifa Hospital after IDF evacuation order, health official says

From CNN's Kareem Khadder and Eyad Kourdi

Doctors at Al-Shifa hospital in northern Gaza have refused a mandatory evacuation order of the hospital from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), because they fear the approximately 700 at-risk patients will die if left behind, according to Dr. Munir Al-Bursh, director-general of the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza.

“The problem is not the doctors, it’s the patients. And if they are left behind, they will die, and if they are transferred they will die on the way, this is the problem, we are talking about 700 patients,” Dr. Al-Bursh told CNN Monday. “There has been no response until now by the doctors, but some of the displaced people and families have already been leaving.”

Several thousand people have been sheltering in the hospital compound, according to doctors in the hospital.

The evacuation order, according to Dr. Al-Bursh, is not coordinated with any international humanitarian agencies, such as the International Red Cross. The lack of coordination raises concerns about the safety and feasibility of transferring such a large number of patients, many of whom are in critical condition and will die in transport, he said.

Earlier on Monday, the IDF announced that a safe passage for the inhabitants of northern Gaza had been reopened. IDF spokesperson Richard Hecht said on Sunday that the majority of Rantisi and Al-Nasr hospitals, both in Northern Gaza, are almost completely evacuated.

On Sunday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) told CNN it could not confirm any evacuations from Al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza.

To a Muslim extremist, anyone who is not Muslim is an infidel. That includes Catholics because they are still considered Crusaders. That’s the term for Christians as a whole even though during the Crusades there was only Catholicism.
Which probably makes them see the Pope as Crusader-in-Chief. IMO

Excerpt from the link, which is a government study on Islamist extremism post 9-11. I don’t think Hamas even existed yet.

The Red Cross is working with IDF to evacuate Al Qud. Apparently RC has the resources available and cooperation of IDF.

It's gonna be tricky getting folks out now that Hamas is trapped. Humans are their shields.

I can hope the "dangerous conditions" is the IDF clearing a way for the Red Cross.

I truly believe Israel is doing everything possible to evacuate Gaza City.
Moo.
