Amen to that! My grandfather and great grandfather ran away to the US. They had bounties on their head, because there was a new Sultan who was doing away with the old Sultan's reforms.

It's easy to sit behind a computer and critique other cultures.

Glad your Grandfather and great grandfather escaped. I always think genealogy is so important and interesting. A lot of Americans have similar stories. My ancestors came over as indentured servants until they could purchase their freedom. Others were Huguenots escaping religious persecution and death in France.

Its really fascinating to me.

She was found with the cache of weapons near that truck today. It says she was found in a building near al-Shifa. It all depends on who is talking though. The location varies.
I doubt if she died of cancer. She was just diagnosed.
She had just been diagnosed with breast cancer, so isn't it unlikely that the cancer killed her in 5 weeks?
So before I get inundated with "duh, Brightchaser", my point was-- would Hamas try to wriggle out of being responsible for her death (probably worded it poorly)? :)

The nephew of the Hamas leader was caught at the Al Shifa Hospital. I wonder what he was doing there

What we and other nations "want" is irrelevant, as long as terrorists in that area claim that the only solution is the "final solution". They don't care what "Westernized" nations think. A select few nations can put pressure on terrorists to abandon their immediate goals and accept a two-state solution. But if the same beliefs are allowed to flourish, there will never really be peace because from time to time, someone will answer the call to kill Jews. When a religious conviction, that killing certain people is authorized, necessary, and celebrated, is tolerated, I don't see terrorists being contained by a two-state solution.

From the below article:

Hamas official Fathi Hamad said:
"Seven million Palestinians outside, enough warming up, you have Jews with you in every place. You should attack every Jew possible in all the world and kill them."

Not helping, Fathi...

I guess it depends on whether she has injuries to her head, and perhaps one of her feet has been cut off - like Noa Marciano. An autopsy will reveal the truth.

Both Israel and Hamas are being investigated for war crimes. The slaughter of civilians in Gaza needs to come to an end.
JMO

Slaughter is wanton, cruel intentional killing. Add that to torture and it would describe what the Hamas terrorists did on Oct 7. Hamas is responsible for any and all fallout from their actions when evading capture by using civilians as shields.

Except for Hamas deliberately killing people attempting to flee the area, I think civilian deaths in Gaza are related to the effort to capture/eliminate the terrorists. It doesn't make it easier to accept innocent people being killed, but it is not fair to describe Israel's military as deliberately seeking to kill them.

I don’t think they care one way or another. They murdered 1,200+ Israelis and who knows how many Palestinians. These guys aren’t worried about their day in court. They’re proud of their accomplishments.

Same here. I hope Palestinians rebuild Gaza into a decent and peaceful society. I believe that's exactly what I said.
Does it mean we agree on something at last? :D
I'm a peaceful person.

And as Janusz Korczak said:

"I don't wish harm to anyone.
I can't.
I dont know how to do it."

He was Jewish/Polish Educator called
"The Old Doctor of Warsaw".

Nazis sent Jewish children from orphanage he was a director of, to Treblinka death camp to die.

And he went with them.

Janusz Korczak stayed with his charges until the very end, even though he had a chance to survive.
He became a symbol of limitless dedication to the cause of children, and the memory of him will never die.

I keep forgetting these nuts think they're "divinely appointed" to do these things. How in the world do you penalize someone like that? Besides taking away their money and toys.

Hamas calls Israeli claims of finding tunnel shaft at Al-Shifa Hospital "baseless lies"

From CNN's Abeer Salman

The Hamas-run government media office on Thursday denied it was using Al-Shifa Hospital as a command and control center — calling the Israeli claims "baseless lies."
Hamas accused Israel of giving "false scenarios, fabricated narratives, and distorted information" about the Al-Shifa Medical Complex," in a written statement.

Earlier on Thursday, the Israeli army released a video to back up its claim of uncovering a "tunnel shaft" in the grounds of Gaza's main hospital.

The video showed what appeared to be a hole in the ground surrounded by exposed sandy soil, broken bits of metal, and concrete scattered around it a short distance from a hospital building.

Calling the tunnel shaft claim a "ridiculous scenario," Hamas said it was all "part of a continuous campaign of incitement and deception that has been promoted for years" to justify Israel's wars against Gaza. "It is a failed attempt to escape future accountability and legal pursuit," the statement said.

The statement added that the Palestinian Ministry of Health "has repeatedly requested dozens of times from all institutions, organizations, international bodies, and relevant parties to form technical teams to visit and inspect all hospitals, in order to refute the false incitement narrative."

So if Hamas calls the tunnel shaft a 'ridiculous scenario', it's guaranteed to be there, right?

I recall it was posted earlier today that someone from the hospital stated that 2 medics were arrested. Perhaps he was a medic? errr pretending to be a medic.. or who knows at this point.

She was murdered in Gaza.
That is just, depravity.

Thankfully, I have never been in combat. I have worked with refugees in areas with shaky, recently imposed cease fires and a good amount of continuing violence. They told me, well, alot.

I can understand (but not affirm) that atrocities can be inevitable in some wars. I can see 50 or so Israeli civilians being killed as hundreds of loosely supervised, angry and keyed up Hamas fighters attack IDF compounds, then enter Israeli towns.

The deliberate deaths of 50 civilians have occurred in Israel before under similar circumstances: Active War, 48 Palestinians murdered by Israeli border police (probably not exactly the Golani Brigade when it comes to receiving capable recruits and capable officers). The perpetrators had been keyed up by orders to "shoot on sight" and the need to "teach Palestinians lessons".

But, October 07 was not about 50 deliberate murders, nor even say, 100. It was about 1,000 or more murdered civilians. Likewise, the killings were not limited to those done by a few "bad apples" that can pop up in any army or armed group. Nor did the killings stop after the heat of the moment had passed.

Its just awful.

Sounds like he was trying to hide in plain sight. I wonder how long it will take for him to start talking about the terrorist organization - or perhaps he prefers to rot in jail. That will quite a big change in lifestyle for him.
