Hospitals in Gaza are experiencing significant challenges because of the Israeli siege, which has caused a lack of fuel, water and basic supplies.

Organisers of the pro-Palestine marches that have drawn hundreds of thousands of people to London’s streets have planned smaller action in villages, towns and cities rather than holding a national march in the capital today.

More than 100 pro-Palestine events demanding a ceasefire in Gaza are due to take place across the UK.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend vigils, protests, petitions, fundraisers and marches across London boroughs and cities including Birmingham, Cambridge, Liverpool and elsewhere on Saturday, according to organisers.

Ben Jamal, the director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, said the rallies were organised to show that “ordinary people” support a ceasefire.

I didn’t hear a peep from any of these groups when over a thousand innocent Israelis were tortured, raped, and slaughtered.

Horror that has been perpetrated for many years by both sides as the history of the area proves.

Photos show desperation for bread in Gaza

Bread is ordinarily a staple food for people in Gaza. But fuel shortages mean bakeries have come to a crippling halt.

Earlier this week, the UN's World Food Programme confirmed the shutdown of Gaza's final bakery operating in partnership with the agency.

Today, it warned of the "immediate possibility of starvation" among Gaza's population of two million people.

The following photos, taken in the southern city of Khan Younis earlier, show crowds gathered around one of the few bakeries still operating in the area.

Oh, I don’t deny there have been hostilities on both sides for years, @Wishbone. My post was referring to the present situation at Shiva Hospital during the current conflict.

The current situation is a continuation of the hostilities not a separate item IMO.

Since 16 November at about 16:00 and as of 22:00 on 17 November, contact with the Gaza Strip has been largely cut off, following the shutdown of landlines, cellular, and internet services due to the depletion of fuel used to run generators by telecommunications providers. This is the fourth communications blackout since 7 October, and the first caused by lack of fuel. As a result, this Flash Update contains minimal updated information about the humanitarian situation in Gaza over the past 24 hours.

The telecommunications shutdown has brought the already challenging delivery of humanitarian assistance to an almost complete halt, including life-saving assistance to people injured or trapped under the rubble as a result of airstrikes and clashes.

On 17 November, the Israeli authorities informed UNRWA that as of 18 November they would allow the entry into Gaza of a daily amount of 60,000 litres of fuel from Egypt. This is about 37 per cent of the fuel needed by the agency to support humanitarian operations, including food distribution, and operation of generators at hospitals and water and sanitation facilities.

Landlines and cellular services surely aren't the only method of communication possible for humanitarian workers. Is the use of battery operated two-way radios (aka "walkie talkies") not an option? If they're concerned about Hamas monitoring channels, use a code. It's been done before elsewhere (quite successfully, I might add). jmo

I'm not surprised that the UN is already complaining that they have not received fuel and that they want more than what is being delivered. I think there is a genuine concern that the UN intends to provide Hamas with fuel.

I am surprised that media seems to be ridiculing IDF claims that there are tunnels and an Hamas operations centre beneath the hospital. In the last 2 pages, there are quotes from media that acknowledge that there are weapons in the hospital, but not that many weapons. They state that although there is a tunnel entrance, that doesn't mean it leads to Hamas underground structures.

Isn't one weapon in a hospital is one weapon too many? Why does the media attempt to normalize the idea that weapons in a hospital is insignificant? It seems like some media outlets are desperate to find fault with the IDF.

If the BBC was reporting on a room full of weapons in the basement of a London hospital, would it take the position that it's not that many weapons, or would the media outlet react normally and demand to know how that happened?
Well it's easy when the agenda being pushed is nothing to see here.. Israel is attacking innocent civilians.

It's funny how the narrative changes... no wonder Israel just can't win no matter what they do.

There is no fuel, it's dire.

Israel- he's some fuel

It's not enough we don't want it.

Here's a lot of fuel

Still not enough.. all while media reports there is no fuel and things are dire.

At the hospital it was all about patients dying because there wasn't fuel or supplies
IDF brings fuel and supplies.. yet they didn't take the fuel and there's still no supplies. We've seen the supplies going in??

There's no terrorists in the hospital.. nothing to see here.
They find terrorists and dead hostages and weapons and tunnels..

Sounds like IDF knew what they were talking about, but yet some still say nope that wasn't enough to prove anything.

IDF says it struck multiple Hezbollah sites in response to attacks

The Israel Defense Forces confirms striking several more Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon, saying it is in response to repeated attacks by the terror group on northern Israel.

The IDF says the sites include military compounds and observation posts belonging to the terror group.

Separately, the IDF says fighter jets struck an “advanced” surface-to-air missile system in Lebanon which had fired at an Israeli drone overnight. The missile was intercepted by Israeli air defenses, and the military drone was apparently not damaged.

Yep. Wash, rinse, repeat. How much water, fuel, and food has Hamas, the elected government in Gaza, provided to it's citizens since October 7? MOO

News agency releases pictures of Palestinians fleeing Al-Shifa hospital on foot

The AFP news agency has released pictures of columns of Palestinians fleeing Al-Shifa hospital on foot.

Hundreds of people are reported to have evacuated the hospital, which Israeli forces have been searching for days.

The pictures filed by AFP show men, women and children walking down rubble-strewn streets as a military bulldozer drives in the background.

Its reporter says the crowds included the sick and injured and they were making their way to Gaza's seafront.

Earlier we reported that the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza said there were 120 patients and an unspecified number of premature babies left in the facility.

The hospital director has accused the Israeli military of ordering an evacuation, but the IDF says it helped facilitate a request from the director.

New images show extent of overcrowding at Gaza's Indonesian Hospital

From CNN's Abeer Salman

Doctors and patients evacuating the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City are making their way to the Indonesian Hospital, also in the north of the enclave, Dr. Munir Al-Bursh told Al Jazeera on Saturday.

New pictures published on the Indonesian Hospital’s Facebook page show the facility’s emergency department overwhelmed by injured patients, suggesting there will be little, if any, space available for the new arrivals.

One picture shows small children lying on pieces of cardboard laid out on a white tiled floor, while nearby adults wrapped up in blankets are laid out on stretchers.

Another photo shows men and boys – one with a bandage over a face wound, another with a bandaged arm – laid out across a row of mats on the floor.

A third picture shows a man with face wounds being administered to by a female medic as he lies on a stretcher in front of what looks like a reception desk.

A fourth picture shows a man with bandaging around his head and upper chest sitting upright across two stretchers, both of which are bearing people who appear very badly wounded.

The hospital says people are dying because doctors cannot provide the necessary care.

“Tragic and unprecedented conditions. We have seen medical staff crying at times, when they see a large number of casualties bleeding on the floor but are unable to provide assistance to all but a few,” the hospital wrote on Facebook.

HEALTH MINISTRY: WE EXPECT TO NEED WAVES OF VOLUNTEERS

First wave out of 7,000 foreign doctors wanting to help amid war have come to Israel

With many Israeli physicians called to military duty, organizations in Israel and abroad work with the government to identify the professionals needed most by hospitals and clinics

Twelve thousand doctors,, nurses and paramedics from around the world have informed the Health Ministry that they are ready to hop on a plane to Israel and volunteer their services during the ongoing war with the Hamas terror group.

Of the 12,000, some 7,000 are doctors of all specialties. Half are from the United States, and others are from other countries including Sweden, Canada, Belgium, Brazil, Switzerland and New Zealand.

So far, more than 150 of them have come to help out.
....
Health Ministry Director-General Dr. Sefi Mendelovich expressed his gratitude to the doctors from around the world willing to come and help out.

“The support from outside has been so immediate and so appreciated. We recognize that your willingness to volunteer here is your way of showing your deepest emotions for us,” he said on a recent Zoom call with 1,400 physicians.

Now this looks like innocent Palestinians (men, women, and children) evacuating a hospital, imo. This I can believe.

100%

If there have been back and forth attacks during the "ceasefire" it certainly was never anything like what happened on Oct 7th. It sounds like it has been small attacks from both sides at various times and nothing as horrific as Oct 7th. On Oct 7th 1000s of HAMAS terrorists invaded Israel and committed acts that are NOT a part of war. The victims of Oct 7th were not collateral damage.. not accidently hit by a rocket, not caught in crossfire.. They were intentionally and methodically executed. They were tortured by evil terrorists that are now in Gaza holding 240 or so hostages.

Rescue teams found burnt bodies in various locations, but with numerous people missing, the Israeli military two weeks ago called in archaeologists from the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) to assist with the meticulous, delicate search.

So far they have helped identify 10 victims, they say, leaving an estimated 25 people still unaccounted for.

"We went into the burnt houses," said archaeologist Joe Uziel, "searching for even the most minute evidence that could help us identify individuals that were missing, be it personal belongings such as jewelry and such or the remains of bones which had been fractured by the heat."

Aided by soldiers, the experts divided up the areas into searching zones just as they would have on an excavation, and began searching and sifting.
