Its fighters are hiding in apartment buildings, labyrinths of tunnels, as well as mosques, schools and hospitals, trying to 'blend in' with the civilian population.

Equally important, by dispersing its forces and logistical supplies, Hamas is trying to create the impression that it is much smaller and has much fewer strategic goals than it actually is.
Snipped for focus.
This snipped bit I will agree with. ^^^

First sentence : In apartment buildings which are not 'refugee camps'. They are permanent homes and much more comfortable than a temporary tent would be.
Aside from that, how many of those civilians are 'in league' with Hamas ?
Helping them in every way they can ?
The number might be surprising.

Hoping there is a resistance movement and some citizen resident Palestinians will find a way to go behind Hamas' back and help the IDF.
If I was a Gazan citizen I'd not be happy if armaments were stored beneath my child's bed !
Imo.

Second sentence : Exactly.
It looks like Hamas and their supporters/enablers are pretending to be lacking: starving, wanting for clothes and food --- when in reality they're not.
Professional victims.

In a way, it's good that Hamas showed the footage of the Israeli victims being dragged via truck or motorbike into Gaza, since it showed the true face of Palestinians.
None of those people were starving skeletons and all looked like they were clean and well fed.
It's sad that other nations are being forced to provide for them via taxes, when it's apparent they're not in need or want.
Omo.

Eta : Check the link in the quoted comment, thanks, Dotta !

Hamas smuggled bullets used in the Oct 7 massacre into Gaza in food bags designed for humanitarian aid.Israeli investigators found up to 50 rice sacks in the aftermath of the slaughter, which they say had served as ammunition pouches.During a tour of the "military-level" equipment recovered after the attack, Israeli officials told The Daily Telegraph the sacks pointed to a "smuggle path via humanitarian aid".
I can see CLEARLY why there is a blockade and has been since HAMAS gained control of Gaza. Who wants terrorist getting more supplies through their own border crossing?

IMO, if HAMAS were all removed from Gaza, then Palestinians would have a real opportunity to live more freely. I can see the borders being less restrictive, them traveling when they want to and overall a better quality of life inside Gaza. When the "government" that controls you only wants to keep you oppressed, steal food and fuel meant for you, uses aid money to line their own pockets, and then hides weapons in the supplies that are entering... Who are they really working for? What is their goal? It certainly isn't to help you have a better life.

Hopefully, this opens the eyes of Palestinians to see that HAMAS is not there to create a better life inside Gaza. They have done nothing but ruin any chance of a better life.

After Oct 7th, even though many countries are calling out Israel for what is now happening, do you really think ANY country is going to openly welcome Palestinians (If HAMAS stays in power). All Oct 7th did was make things worse for Palestinians. It's my opinion that any country would be asking for trouble to ever open their borders and it has nothing to do with the Palestinian people and everything to do with the terrorists and the chaos and risk they bring. So if attacking Israel was somehow a way to benefit people in Gaza.. that was NEVER going to be an outcome of this. Even those countries that are speaking out against Israel are going to suddenly open their arms to Palestinians because HAMAS decided to attack Israel. But, that was never a goal of HAMAS anyway. They wish to keep their people locked up in Gaza. This was no good faith effort to make anything better for their people.

The US and others support and prop up this entire territory.
Making them a country might be the answer to getting them off the US payroll. Moo

In 2021 and 2022, the US was the largest single donor to UNRWA, contributing over $338 million in 2021 and $344 million in 2022.[102][103] UNRWA received over $1.18 billion in donations in 2021 and over $1.17 billion in 2022 from various nations and organizations.[102][103
MOO They need to "grow up" and outgrow their MS-13 existence MOO

(Easier said than done) Over 60% of Palestinian refugee camps are in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. The ones in Lebanon are really bad. (They look like shacks) I'm sure Syria's are also just as bad. If Palestine does become a country, Lebanon will likely force Palestinians to return to Palestine.

It's because I quoted your post and the link was not apparent until the close of the article, it was typed to look like your comment.
Are you saying this was from your countries' msm I think -- and if so, not a rumor, then, since it's linked.

I added Only My Opinion at the end of my post, which of course it is.
Actually I was agreeing with the snipped part of your post.
Imo.
I'll edit if I can.

Good question. It's hard to find older links because current war related links are what pops up.

Article about smuggling tunnels in Egypt

PA's
Linked with the conflict following his party's loss in the 2006 election, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas approved the Egyptian border restrictions by the new regime, purportedly aimed at protecting Egypt from danger. In 2014 and subsequent years, Abbas supported Egypt's crackdown on smuggling tunnels and welcomed the flooding of the tunnels by Egypt in coordination with the PA.[8][45][46]

In 2010, Abbas declared that he opposed lifting the Israeli naval blockade of the Gaza Strip because this would bolster Hamas. Egypt also supported this position.[47]

In 2016, Abbas objected to the entrance of Qatari fuel to the Gaza electricity plant via Israel, because his PA would be unable to collect taxes on the fuel.[48]

In 2016 most Palestinian parties welcomed Turkish initiatives to end the strict Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip by building a seaport for the movement of people and goods. This step was condemned by Fatah and the PA, a senior Fatah leader saying that his movement would not allow this to happen, while the Fatah Executive Committee said this was an Israeli trick to separate Gaza from the West Bank. In turn a Hamas official condemned the PA's position; "This position proves that the PA is part of the Israeli-led siege which has been imposed on Gaza for ten years".[49]
I'd sure be barring the door, if I lived next door.

Didn't Blinken have to cut deal with Egypt to get them to open the border?

What happened to the Turkish Mobile hospital, to be set up near the border in Egypt? Did Egypt have second thoughts?

The border wouldn't be open if not for Biden and Blinken.

And the UN, WHO and RC has the gaul to call out the US.

A vessel carrying equipment for field hospitals that left western Turkiye last week arrived in Egypt’s Al-Arish Port on Monday. Health Minister, Fahrettin Koca, said they would provide health care services to the people of Gaza in coordination with Egypt, Turkish local media reports.
According to the report, it is the first such aid vessel to arrive in Egypt since the new stage of the Palestine-Israel conflict broke out on 7 October.
A Turkish health official told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that the vessel was carrying “materials, generators, ambulances to establish eight field hospitals.”

The Palestinian people live in many Middle Eastern countries, and not just the Gaza strip, which many consider an open air prison. Hamas is a Terrorist Org, and many doubt they will be wiped out, even as Gaza is leveled-genocide of many innocents, some UN workers, Peace/Aide workers, from many countries. The Israeli people have been protesting Netanyahu for some time as well, as he has removed any powers from the Courts in Israel. As the IDF pushes across borders, WWII is assured, just as Putin is doing in and around Ukraine. Sickening. MOO
PS: Not all of us can read/see posts from X-an untrusted platform in my view, as well.
BBM. You make a very good point. The protests being held around the world are not against the Jewish religion but are against the Israel government policies against the Palestinians, which are incredibly inhumane. I agree, it is sickening.

UN warns of 'tragic, avoidable surge' in child deaths in Gaza

The UN has warned that a “tragic … entirely avoidable surge” in child deaths is expected in Gaza, where on average a child is killed every 10 minutes.

“About 160 children are killed every day; that’s one every 10 minutes,” said World Health Organization (WHO) spokesperson Christian Lindmeier on Tuesday.

Speaking to journalists in Geneva, he said that “every 10 minutes, two children are injured” and that children and families have been dying “in terrifying circumstances”.

The UN children’s agency (Unicef) warned that number could skyrocket due to the serious additional threat of a mass disease outbreak in the besieged Palestinian territory. The Unicef spokesperson James Elder said:

If youngsters continue to have restricted access to water and sanitation in Gaza, we will see a tragic yet entirely avoidable surge in the number of children dying.
“The death toll among children is sickening,” he said, noting that more than 5,350 Palestinian children had reportedly been killed, according to Gaza health authorities.

Grief is becoming embedded in Gaza. So this then is a stark warning: without sufficient fuel, without sufficient water, conditions for children will plummet.
He said the daily minimum need in emergency situations was 15 litres of water per person, but that in parts of Gaza as little as three litres a day is available, and none on some days.

Pointing to “a desperate lack of water, faecal matter strewn across densely populated settlements [and] an unacceptable lack of latrines”, Elder said it was a “perfect storm for the spread of disease”.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has said three doctors were killed in what it said was an Israeli strike on Al-Awda hospital in northern Gaza.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF)
has confirmed that two of its doctors and a third health ministry doctor were killed following what it said was a strike on Al-Awda.

ActionAid said it was “horrified” to learn from the hospital, which is a partner to the organisation, that three doctors were killed after the fourth floor of the building was hit by bombing. It added:

While we are still awaiting further information, our position is in no doubt. This bombing of Al-Awda is yet another potential breach of international humanitarian law in a crisis where the rights of patients to access lifesaving care are being violated daily. Healthcare workers, ambulances, and hospitals are never a legitimate target.

In a statement, Al-Awda said that it “adhered to the medical and health principles and practices in times of conflicts and war” and that “only medical personnel, patients and the injured” were inside the hospital.

MSF says its doctors were killed in strike on northern Gaza hospital

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has said it is “horrified” by the killing of two of its doctors and a third health ministry doctor following what it said was a strike on Al-Awda hospital in northern Gaza.

The MSF doctors, Dr Mahmoud Abu Nujaila and Dr Ahmad Al Sahar, were in the hospital when it was hit on the third and fourth floors, the charity said in a statement. Other medical staff, including MSF staff, were severely injured, it said.

More than 200 patients are still in Al-Awda and must be urgently evacuated to other hospitals in Gaza that are still functioning, MSF said.

It said it has regularly shared information about Al-Awda – one of the last remaining functional hospitals in northern Gaza – and that it had shared GPS coordinates with Israeli authorities on Monday. The statement continued:

We condemn this strike in the strongest terms and yet again call for the respect and protection of medical facilities, staff and patients.
Attacks on medical facilities are a “serious violation of international humanitarian law”, it said, adding that such attacks have become “systematic” in the past weeks.

This is yet another incident that MSF staff have been subject to in the last few days. Our colleagues who are assisting hundreds of patients in Gaza are facing extremely difficult times in providing the little medical care they can. Seeing doctors killed next to hospital beds is beyond tragic, and this must stop now.

South African lawmakers have voted in favour of closing down the Israeli embassy in South Africa and suspending all diplomatic relations with Israeluntil it agrees to a ceasefire in Gaza.

The vote, which was adopted by a 248-91 margin, is largely symbolic as it will be up to the government whether to implement it.

Meanwhile, South African president Cyril Ramaphosa accused Israel of war crimes and “genocide” in Gaza as he chaired an extraordinary summit of the BRICS group on Tuesday. Ramaphosa said:

The collective punishment of Palestinian civilians through the unlawful use of force by Israel is a war crime. The deliberate denial of medicine, fuel, food and water to the residents of Gaza is tantamount to genocide.
He called for an “immediate and comprehensive ceasefire” and the deployment of a UN force “to monitor the cessation of hostilities and protect civilians.”

Latest details on hostage deal from Paul Cunningham

The English-language Israeli station i24 is reporting what it says are elements of the hostage deal being negotiated between Israel and Hamas, with the assistance of Qatar.

The unconfirmed report says:

53 hostages are to be released, mostly children and mothers.

There will be a four-day ceasefire, with some hostages released each day.

150 Palestinian prisoners will be released by Israel, mostly women and minors.

The hostages will be released through Egypt's Rafah crossing.

Hamas will give the names of hostages who are to be released a day in advance.

Hostages of foreign countr(ies) could be part of the deal.

Hamas will not release any Israeli soldiers, male hostages or bodies of those who have died at this time.
