Throwing stones. I found my answer about the children, and edited my post. Thanks anyway.

"The most common charge is throwing stones, which is punishable by a maximum punishment of 20 years."
Why are so many Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails?

These teenaged boys throwing stones is not something to be minimized.

Teenagers who throw stones at Israelis easily grow to become men who murder Israelis.. It’s the identical impulse to commit violence against those whom they’ve been trained to hate since birth.

Remember that in Biblical times, people were stoned to death.

It’s not a harmless prank or just kids being mischievous. It’s kids being trained.

IMO

I welcome the deal to secure the release of hostages taken by Hamas during its brutal assault against Israel on October 7th.I'm gratified that these brave souls, who have endured an unspeakable ordeal, will be reunited with their families once this deal is fully implemented.

46 days later, Israel is still being attacked by Hamas.

3min ago

Rocket sirens sound in southern Israel

Rocket warning sirens are sounding in Gaza border communities in southern Israel.

Sirens sound in Sderot, Avim, and Nir Am.

There are no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

I do get that, Arkay. It is very difficult to discuss both sides of the story, but I think if there is ever to be peace in the region what is happening on both sides must be looked at. Because these are the problems that need to be addressed.

Un-indoctrinating the children will be a big task. I don't know that prison and force are the ways to do it.

They know Israel will do anything to return them home for burial. They keep the bodies as pawns. Israel values the dead as much as their living.
I recall my late partner being asked if he was Jewish when his limb was removed. I said no he was not, but the doctor said if he was they would store his limb to later bury with the rest of his body, and that it is very important for all parts of the body to be buried together in the Jewish religion. It is like "shooting a sparrow with a cannon" IMO.

And is counter productive, as the whole world can see that hatred is even greater than ever before.

I am highlighting this quote from the link posted by @Dotta.

I know you didn’t mean it in this way, but I see this as as an admirable and necessary goal.

Hamas could have chosen to NOT ambush and massacre innocent people.

Hamas could have tried something new in their world and opted for a philosophy of live and let live.
Instead they chose to die and let die.

So, IMO, let them die.

If living hostages are released on Thursday, that will be the happiest Thanksgiving possible. Yet I have grave concerns about the prisoners who will re-emerge into Palestinian society. I have concerns regarding what has been negotiated as a several day “pause,” but which I view as a several day chance for Hamas to regroup. They never pause, yet they expect Israel to do nothing for several days.

But of course, it is necessary in order to get back at least some of the hostages.
As Hamas planned, these innocent kidnapped victims are bargaining chips.

Why 50 out of 240? Why dribble them out over several days instead of all at once?

Obviously Israel’s cabinet agreed because each hostage is the whole world to somebody, Jews value life, and it’s imperative that they come home.

But stashing away the rest of the hostages will prolong this war.

Hamas would be better off and so would the civilians if Hamas returned EVERYONE IMMEDIATELY.

But no, they have to dangle a few at a time because the hostages are their leverage. And IMO many have already died.
BBM. That was part of the headline in Dotta's link to the dailymail article:

Israeli cabinet approves deal that will see 50 women and children taken hostage by Hamas on October 7 freed during 'five-day' ceasefire - as hawkish Netanyahu renews vow to destroy terror group regardless

Shin Bet interrogations break open Hamas strategy, operations

The Shin Bet interrogated dozens of senior Hamas terrorists who participated in the October 7 slaughter of Israelis in the South.

As you said previously, we've only heard the tip of the iceberg. Frightening. MOO

Noting:

[...]

This vetting is a critical process because it allows the Shin Bet’s highly experienced and specialized interrogators to focus on the highest impact detainees to understand Hamas’s strategy, intentions, and broader tactical operations.

In contrast, many other detainees were less well-trained and, in some cases, spontaneously joined the slaughter when they heard about the success in breaking into Israel as it was happening.

[...]

A terrorist interrogated by the Shin Bet admitted that Hamas uses ambulances to transport weapons and terrorists throughout the Gaza Strip.

“I can leave with any ambulance I want,” the terrorist acknowledged.

Moreover, he said, “Al-Qassam [Brigades] has its own ambulances, some of which are also at the military base... the appearance of ambulances is similar to civilian ambulances so that they do not arouse suspicion or be bombed by Israel.

[...]

Each terrorist had a slightly different experience, but the Shin Bet flagged some common themes. All the Hamas agents were given explicit instructions to kill and kidnap civilians including the elderly along with women and children. While they did this, the Shin Bet emphasized that their senior commanders stayed behind in secure areas in Gaza.

One of the terrorists told Israeli forces that they were told: “Whoever brings a hostage back [to Gaza] gets $10,000 and an apartment.

Each of us does what we do.

I never thought the day would come I’d rip up a Pink Floyd shirt.
I don't understand this, please pardon my ignorance.

A lot of info in this article. Specifically told to take civilians, elderly, women, children. Yet, people won’t condemn them.

“One of the targeted killings the Shin Bet facilitated is the assassination on November 11 of Ahmed Siam, a Hamas Naser Radwan company commander who had held about 1,000 Gazan civilians hostage in Gaza’s Rantisi Hospital to use them as human shields. That assassination had a dramatic impact on the broader situation in the field, such as facilitating large numbers of Palestinian civilians escaping from being essentially held hostage by Siam.”

Putting children in adult prisons is a disaster waiting to happen. In the U.S., studies have shown just how detrimental it is on their mental and physical health and they are exposed to additional violence within the prison system. The goal should be to prevent recidivism.

Elon Musk, who is under fire for supporting an antisemitic post, said that X Corp. will donate any revenue the social media platform generates from ads and subscriptions linked to the war in Gaza to hospitals in Israel as well as to the Red Cross in Gaza.

Damage control. imo
I read yesterday that he had filed a lawsuit against Media Matters, because he lost a whole lot of advertisers when Media Matters reported that Musk was allowing pro-Nazi posts next to ads.

Israel's Justice Ministry has released a list of Palestinian prisoners who are expected to be released as part of the deal with Hamas. The list has 300 names, though only 150 will be released at the first stage. None of them have been convicted of murder. Some convicted of attempted murder and aggrevated assault. Other convicted of more minor offenses, such contact with a outlawed group, setting off an explosive, stone throwing, and arson.

Why anyone would allow pro-Nazi rhetoric on a social media platform is beyond my grasp. I'm a shareholder of Apple and I applaud their decision to pull advertising. Blaming the media is quite a stretch but seems typical of Musk who is yet another narcissistic billionaire.
