I thought that the Israeli government said that Hamas was blocking the entry of aid into Gaza at the border with Egypt. This report says that Israel was blocking entry. Wonder if that is accurate.

I don't know if Israel has bombed the crossing but I have seen several reports of them bombing Rajah and that one of the reasons the trucks haven't been allowed through is because the roads are in disrepair. I will try to find a link or two. MOO

He also said Israeli aerial bombardment had rendered roads on the Gaza side of the crossing “inoperable.”

“The Rafah crossing officially is open on the Egyptian side, it has been open all along. The problem with the roads is that it’s been subject to aerial bombardment. Therefore, on the Gaza side the roads are not in a state that can receive the transit of vehicles,” Shoukry told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

Egypt has tried to ship humanitarian aid to Gaza but has not received the clearance to do so, he added.

A senior Jordanian official told CNN earlier this week that both countries were awaiting assurance that aid trucks would not be targeted by Israeli airstrikes.

I know-after the brutal killings- why would they keep anyone safe? I thought very briefly at the beginning that they wanted hostages to trade for prisoners, but after the carnage, I thought no one will negotiate with them. IMO.

I thought maybe taking the small ones as hostages would make it easier to control, move and hide hostages kept for "trade". Now I think that the level of care, feeding, toileting and listening to the crying would not be tolerated.

There is a lot of documentation on these identified missing kidnapped children and the mother of the redheads, a baby and an older brother in each set. I wish the world would scream "Hamas, where are the babies?"

100 trucks of humanitarian aid said waiting at Egypt border to be allowed into Gaza​

More than 100 trucks full of humanitarian aid are currently at the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing, waiting to be allowed into Gaza, Al Arabiya reports.

The network says the trucks are slated to be allowed in at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

However, there have been a number of reports in recent days about Rafah reopening that proved to be false.

Israel has bombed the crossing several times in order to prevent the entry of humanitarian aid from reaching Gazans in order to further squeeze the enclave’s Hamas rulers following their October 7 onslaught.

All we can do is wait & see. Hoping it won't increase more violence. SMH.

IDF chief to troops: ‘We will win because our war is just’​

In a missive to troops, the chief of the Israel Defense Forces says the military “will win” in the war against Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

“The IDF will win because it sticks to the mission, [because of] the strength of its spirit and togetherness,” IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi says.

“The IDF will win because our war is just. The IDF will win thanks to the resilience of the nation, which makes up [the military],” he says.

“It will win thanks to its abilities and because we have trained for this task,” Halevi adds.

Senior US official flies into Israel​

The top US general overseeing American forces in the Middle East made an unannounced trip to Israel on Tuesday, saying he hoped to ensure its military has what it needs as it fights a deepening war against Palestinian militant group Hamas.

The trip by Army General Michael “Erik” Kurilla, head of US Central Command, is the latest by a senior US official to Israel ahead of an expected ground assault by Israel‘s military in Gaza. It comes a day before a planned visit by US President Joe Biden to the country.

The US military is increasing its firepower in the region, aiming to prevent Iran and other Iran-backed groups from getting involved in the conflict as international fears of a wider, regional war grow.

The Pentagon is also rushing weaponry, including air defenses and munitions, to Israel.
“I’m here to ensure Israel has what it needs to defend itself, particularly focused on avoiding other parties expanding the conflict,” Kurilla told Reuters, which is traveling with him, in brief remarks before landing.

A US official told Reuters Kurilla was scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Israel’s military leadership, ensuring a clear understanding of the close US ally’s defense requirements.

Kurilla was also expected to outline US military support aimed at avoiding an expansion of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

I am from NY. I will say that I have been impressed with the elected officials overall in this crisis. Many of the delegations have been bi-partisan with members of federal, state, and local governments. Now, the governor is going to be there to show the NY support. Key to making sure that the people of the state are behind the support for Israel.

I would think they'd be scared to death that they and/or their families would be targeted by Hamas.

But if the PLO are the true leaders (and Abbas and his website are not actually in Gaza) who speak for all Palestinians as they claimed to ... then get rid of Hamas!

Thanks, @PommyMommy for finding this. However it is Egypt's Foreign Minister who is stating this (that the border crossing is closed on the Gaza side due to inoperable roads because of Israeli bombing. That may be the case, but who knows.

Also, the earlier article states that Israel purposefully bombed Kafah in order to keep the border closed and stop humanitarian aid from getting in to Gaza in order to "squeeze" Hamas. I really doubt that Israel wanted to stop humanitarian aid from getting in for that reason. JMO.
