It could be anything. People spread rumors and get crowds worked up.
It turned into a mass riot and Russia closed the airport until Nov 6th. Apparently, they are tearing up the entire airport.
This is in Dagestan, which is not well treated by Russia. They're rioting.
The region is considered to be volatile.
Any region in Russia is more or less volatile given that so much money is sent from the satrapies, oh, sorry, the governorships to the centers, Moscow and St. Petersburg. However, the population density falls sharply behind the Ural Ridge, so it is mostly Central Russia and republics that might be problematic.
