Blinken tells Jordan king US committed to working toward establishing Palestinian state

Meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah and Crown Prince Hussein in Amman, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told the pair the US is committed to working with regional partners to establish a Palestinian state, the State Department says in its readout on the meeting.

The Biden administration has been increasingly stressing this message during meetings with regional leaders since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, after two years of using more general messaging regarding the right of Israelis and Palestinians to “equal measures of freedom.”

Blinken in today’s meeting in Amman with Abdullah and Hussein also “underscored our shared commitment to the protection of civilians and to facilitating the increased, sustained delivery of life-saving humanitarian assistance, the resumption of essential services, and ensuring that Palestinians are not forcibly displaced outside of Gaza,” the State Department says.

JMO, but Blinken appears to be walking on a tight rope right now....be careful..!!!

If the Palestinians aren't permitted to evacuate Gaza en masse, is Israel planning to send them back up the way they came down?

Biden answers ‘yes’ when asked if progress made on humanitarian pause in Gaza

US President Joe Biden says that progress has been made on securing a so-called “humanitarian pause” in the fighting between Israel and Hamas, as his secretary of state works on the same issue in the Middle East.

When asked if any progress had been made on the issue, Biden replies “yes” as he leaves a church in Delaware and offers a thumbs up before getting into his vehicle. He doesn’t give any further details.

IDF says fighter jets struck Hezbollah posts after rockets fired from Lebanon

Israeli fighter jets struck a number of sites belonging to the Hezbollah terror group in southern Lebanon after rockets were identified being fired at Israel, the military says.

The Israel Defense Forces says none of the projectiles landed in Israeli territory.

Separately, an anti-tank guided missile was fired from Lebanon at the Metula area, causing no injuries, the IDF adds.

Hamas uses all civil infrastructure, all humanitarian infrastructure, all UN infrastructure in Gaza for the purposes of deadly terror, and goes to incredible lengths to put civilians in harm's way, Col. Elad Goren, Head of the Civil Dept. at @cogatonline, tells @laura_i24

And...the UN and Red Cross side with Hamas, while the world provides everything the citizens need. They have allowed Hamas to take control.

Moo... IDF is circling the wagons, quickly cutting off access to tunnels, as they tighten and close the perimeter. Soon they will not be able to escape through the tunnels.

I think the hostages are under the hospital. I'm not sure how they will over take the hospital, especially if people don't evacuate.

I do have hope. We have the best of the worlds best, going for the hostages.

Thanks, I followed that. I was referring to later on --whether they'd be permitted to return to their old neighborhoods, so to speak.
After the war?
I think a plan will be in place to rebuild and allow them back home.

And risk getting shot at by Hamas like the IDF did today. They won’t.
And IMO they are complicit to what is happening. They have allowed this to go on under their noses for years.

In case anyone is interested, Anderson Cooper “The Whole Story” has a series on this situation. I watched the first episode on Discovery+ “Terror in Israel.” Much of it was review of course, and I had seen most of the content, I think there was a little bit I didn’t know, like the exact number/map of bomb shelters along the route (9, with 4 of them attacked, iirc, jmo). There are more episodes. Next one is all about Hamas it seems. Will pass for the moment, still sick from that Hamas Leader video I posted upstream, about how they are humans and want the hostages to go home, minimizing, deflecting from their brutality…

THE WHOLE STORY
“Anderson Cooper hosts a deeply reported series that goes behind the headlines and into the heart of the most important stories of our time.”

Season 2023
