CIA director discussed hostage release effort with IDF chief of staff during Israel visit, IDF says

The CIA is working with Israeli intelligence on plans to rescue hundreds of hostages from Hamas, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

CIA Director Bill Burns discussed the hostage release effort with IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi on Tuesday as part of the CIA director's visit to Israel, IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari told reporters.

Israel is Burns' first stop as he travels to multiple countries in the region to meet with intelligence counterparts.

Intelligence materials, operational planning as well as other efforts to help with the hostages' release were presented during the meeting between Burns and Halevi.

“Each hostage has their own intelligence file that’s being monitored,” Hagari told reporters Tuesday.

“We’re making our efforts along with the ISA (Israeli Security Agency), the Mossad, we’re together assessing the situation every day to see what we need to adjust, change and plan, in order to fulfill our task – to bring them (hostages) home,” Hagari said.

I saw some photos circling on X last night, his face was primarily covered but I thought he looked younger than 50.
(But, the older I get the younger everyone else appears?!)

ETA: I decided to check X and the photos I'm seeing now do not appear to be the same guy I saw making their way around last night.
Sheriff's dept says he's 50. He looks older than 50, because he's quite heavyset and gray. His face wasn't covered.

He is seen in a video here with the megaphone (Second video, @ 51 sec. )

Either way, he was questioned and released. Police want video footage. That's mainly why I posted it. Didn't want to get into a debate about it. These are the most recent reports.

Ventura County Sheriff Jim Fryhoff said deputies determined that Paul Kessler, 69, who died early Monday at a hospital, had fallen backward and struck his head on the ground at a pro-Palestinian demonstration Sunday afternoon in Thousands Oaks, a suburb northwest of Los Angeles.

Ventura County Medical Examiner Dr. Christopher Young said at the news conference Tuesday that an autopsy found Kessler died from a blunt force head trauma, and that the injuries were consistent with a fall. Kessler also had injuries that “could be consistent” with a blow to the face, but it’s unclear what caused his fall, Young said.

Kessler was injured on the left side of his face and back of his head. He had skull fractures and swelling and bruising of the brain, Young said. Kessler’s death has been listed as a homicide, a medical determination that does not indicate a crime was committed, Young said.

The father of 22-year-old tattoo artist Shani Louk has addressed her tragic murder by Hamas on October 7.Nissim Louk sat down with Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan to discuss the tragedy which unfolded when the Palestinian terrorist group attacked the festival his daughter was attending in Israel. “With all her friends, there were like 3,000 people there, dancing together the whole night, drinking and talking and loving,” Mr Louk told Mr Morgan.“Everything was fine until the morning they saw the rockets … and they started leaving the party, but the psychopath terrorists of Hamas attacked them on the way and just killed them on the spot.”Mr Louk said he views his daughter as the “symbol” of light and beauty amid the sadness and death inflicted by Hamas. “On the main pages all over Europe, you could see my daughter on the left side beautiful and shining and her name was Shani and happy.“And on the other side of the main paper, you could see the people of the Hamas with the crazy sadistic brutal way they threw her on the back of a pickup.”

''What lies in wait for Israeli ground troops in Gaza, security sources say, is a Hamas tunnel network hundreds of kilometres long and up to 80 metres deep, described by one freed hostage as “a spider’s web” and by one expert as the “Viet Cong times 10 ” .
The Palestinian Islamist group has different kinds of tunnels running beneath the sandy 360-square-kilometre coastal strip and its borders - including attack, smuggling, storage and operational burrows, Western and Middle East sources familiar with the matter said.

Even though Israel has invested heavily in tunnel detection - including a sensor-equipped underground barrier it called an “iron wall” - Hamas is still thought to have working tunnels to the outside world.
Hamas has previously said its tunnels in the Gaza Strip exceed 500 kilometres, and this is widely accepted by security analysts, even though the blockaded coastal strip is only 40 kilometres long.
With Israel in full control of Gaza’s air and sea access and most of its land borders, tunnels provide one of the few ways for Hamas to bring in weapons, equipment and people.
Israeli security sources say Israel’s heavy aerial bombardments have caused little damage to the tunnel infrastructure with Hamas naval commandos able to launch a seaborne attack targeting coastal communities near Gaza this week.
Another security source, from one of Israel’s neighbouring countries, said Hamas tunnels from Egypt remain active.''

1,493 hand grenades and explosives, 760 RPGs, 427 explosive belts, 375 firearms, 106 rockets and missiles. These are just a few of the weapons used to massacre over 1,400 Israeli civilians. Weapons used for the killing of innocents.

I have a good idea, and it's infuriating !

The U.S. Army Director of Acquisition and Logistics, Douglas R. Israeli envoy to US shows footage from Oct. 7 Hamas onslaught to fellow ambassadors

Israeli Ambassador to the US Michael Herzog airs body camera footage from the October 7 Hamas massacres to a group of fellow ambassadors and foreign diplomats, during an event at Israel’s Embassy in Washington commemorating 30 days since the Gaza-ruling terror group’s devastating attack.

“This was one of the worst terror attacks in modern history and the single deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust,” Herzog writes on X, formerly Twitter. “Every nation and human being must draw a line between those who uphold the values of humanity and those who desecrate them, and sound a clear moral voice.”

He adds: “Israel has the right and the duty to defend itself and remove the Hamas threat while fighting for the unconditional release of each and every hostage. We will not rest until we bring them back home.”

Troops enter Shuafat to raze home of teen stabber — reports

Palestinian news sites report that large numbers of Israeli forces are in the Shuafat refugee camp north of Jerusalem where they are carrying out demolition work on the family home of a teen boy charged in the fatal stabbing of a border guard earlier this year.

Videos show a large phalanx of troops entering the camp on foot at dawn and surrounding a building, allegedly the home of Muhammad Zalbani,14, who stabbed Border Police officer Staff Sgt. Asil Sawaed, 22 as he inspected a bus at the Shuafat crossing in February.

Palestinians say troops have cordoned off the area as they prepare to raze the home, or render it unusable.

White House says it's 'wrong, hurtful' to tear down photos of hostages

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Tuesday condemned demonstrators tearing down photos of Israeli hostages, calling it “wrong and hurtful” in a social media post shortly after sidestepping the question in a news briefing.

“As a result of the Hamas terrorist attacks, communities and families are grieving,” she said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “For the past month, the families of those who have been taken hostage have lived in agony. Tearing down pictures of their loved ones — who are being held hostage by Hamas — is wrong and hurtful.”

Since the start of the Israel-Hamas war last month, artists have created posters calling attention to the 240 hostages held in Gaza. The posters feature photos, names and ages of hostages and say “kidnapped” in bold, uppercase letters at the top. Videos have circulated on social media of demonstrators ripping down the posters, garnering widespread media attention.

"They examined available photos.

The Gaza Strip is disappearing from the face of the earth.

1699441961812.png

The Gaza Strip is struggling with a humanitarian crisis and is slowly disappearing from the face of the earth - such conclusions can be drawn from the analysis of satellite images conducted by scientists from American universities.

According to their findings, one third of all buildings in the northern part of the Palestinian enclave have already been destroyed.

Massive destruction and hundreds of injured civilians are the result of the Israeli military operation, which was carried out in retaliation for the October attack by Hamas.

As reported by The New York Times, one third of all buildings in the northern Gaza Strip have already disappeared.

These findings were made by scientists from Oregon State University and the City University of New York, who analyzed available satellite images.

They show that in the last week alone, new damage to thousands of buildings was reported.

Throughout the Gaza Strip, at least 38,000 facilities were damaged. Taking into account the southern areas of the Palestinian enclave, approximately 13 to 18 percent of all structures in this territory were destroyed."

"One hundred years of hatred.

The chance for peace came only once.

The United Nations decided 76 years ago that the British Mandate of Palestine would be divided into two states:
Arab and Jewish.

The provisions of the UN resolution of 1947 were never implemented.

The Palestinian-Israeli conflict itself, which flared up in early October, has been going on for over a hundred years.

The chance to conclude peace appeared only once, in the 1990s.

In the background of this dispute there are two great religions, the fight for independence, millions of
refugees, occupation and the politics of great powers.

Hope?

Not found.

The October escalation is just another phase of the dispute.

To understand its origins, you need to know the complicated history in which great religions, the politics of world powers, fundamentalism and dreams of independence intertwine.

This text is an attempt to tell this story, and three experts come to the rescue."

No hope?

"The expert sees no chance of a solution. -

'There are three controversial issues to be resolved.

The first concerns East Jerusalem captured in 1967.
The Palestinians consider it an occupied area and want it back.

Israel will not agree to this.
For Israelis, Jerusalem is their capital and an indivisible city.

Another issue concerns the Jewish settlement.
The withdrawal of settlers from the West Bank seems impossible.

It is enough to recall the controversy and protests caused by the removal of eight thousand settlers from the Gaza Strip.

The third problem is related to the millions of Palestinian refugees who, under international law, have the right to return to their homeland.
The Israeli authorities do not want to agree to this.
If this happened, Jews would become a minority in their own country'
- explains the scientist.

The experts we talk to say bluntly:

'there is no chance for a quick resolution of the conflict'."
