EVERYBODY knows Iran was a major player here and our failed foreign policy is a major contributor.
It is an embarrassment to watch our State Dept respond this way. They are spending their time parsing words while this extremely serious conflict rages and threatens to expand.
Show some guts and call Iran out.
on the other hand though, calling Iran out, at this very critical time, could possibly just make things worse. IMO.

This is why im not "team israel" or "team Palestine" i dont think theres any good guys in this. Im "team civilian" my main concern is the safety of those who are just trying to survive

I stand with Israel against Hamas, no question. Regarding the civilans in Gaza, the UN and other humanitarian organizations perhaps can work with Egypt to get women, children and the elderly out of the Gaza Strip during the war between Hamas and Israel.

It was there’s.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed off on the sanctions waivers last week, a U.S. official told CBS News, a month after U.S. and Iranian officials said an agreement in principle was in place.

It was their money that was in US banks that we froze because they sponsor terrorism and hate us and want to destroy us and are desperately trying to build a nuclear bomb. It was a way to prevent them from doing these awful things and protect ourselves.
Absolutely nothing changed, but our government decided to return it to the Iranians under the guise of exchanging the money for a handful of Americans being held in Iran. This was done despite US policy for decades being that we do not negotiate with terrorists.
Our government announced it triumphantly while Iran laughed at our insistence it would only be used for food and medicine.
If we think the attack on Israel is bad, think what Iran can do now, and what they can do to us, with $6B in their pocket.
An enemy who remains your enemy is your enemy. That seems to have been lost on our a State Department.

I love that you advocate for “The Gift of Fear.”

IMO that same sense, that instinct, that foreknowledge, should be employed by the U.S. and other countries as well.

Iran is the underwriter for much of the world’s terrorism.
I think our government should not be timid in calling them out.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stark warning to the residents of Gaza in an address to Israelis late Saturday night: “Leave now.” The prime minister also cautioned Israelis that “this war will take time” but promised “with the help of God … we will win.”

They were warned.

Of course.
Yes, the $6 billion was designated for “humanitarian purposes,” but what does that mean to people with no humanity?

Obviously they will spend it how they wish. To sponsor terror.

Would you give a fortune to people who want to destroy you and everyone you love?

IMO the U.S. needs to re-freeze that money ASAP.

Also, I take no joy in people in Gaza having no food, etc., but in the words of children everywhere, “they started.”

JMO
I hate the idea of a siege as I know the people to suffer most will be moms and their children and the elderly - exactly the people who the terrorists targeted in Israel. The civilians are suffering. I guess the goal is to make the people themselves revolt against the Hamas. But, in the meantime, the women, children, and elderly suffer. (I know grown men suffer too, but I'm a mom and my thoughts instantly go to moms and the vulnerable, not the ones with power and position.)

Do they have the resources to get out?

Being afraid of hurting Iran’s feelings or offending them is one reason we are where are right now, in my opinion.

*No water, gas or electricity in Gaza. Israel has seized total control of Israel.

I wonder if the fact the US is about to have the Presidential election cycle ramp up is at play? Then there was a major budget issue last month (and continuing if they don't do something in the 45 day window) and the speaker was ousted.

I very much dislike politics and this is not the time for anyone to be worrying about their election or their parties election campaign. It bothers me that when any type of crisis hits, they all start with blaming the other side, the past leader, the other people etc. This goes for both sides. Everything seems to be stated so that whatever side they support comes out looking like they do or did no wrong.. it's always everyone and everything else.

When are they all going to learn the time for that mess is later.. right now the time is to show a united front, make a bold statement denouncing what is happening, boldly state what we (everyone.. both sides.. all Americans) are going to do about it. We need a leader or many leaders to step up and say enough with the blame game and be part of a solution.

Sadly, something bad was bound to happen. (With all the tension since 1947, it's always a tight rope walk)

However, there was likely an intelligence failure that preceded something on this scale.

I don't think the outcome is going to be good. Israel will win the war. (Or any war for that matter) The Palestinian people are going to be the ones who will lose in the long run. I don't know what will happen to them.

Hamas accomplished nothing with this terrorist invasion. It's senseless. Hamas has hurt the Palestinians.

I feel like the world has been walking on eggshells not to upset the terrorists, falsely believing that if it was quiet for a moment, everything was safe. jmo

It's possible Hamas is being used by even more powerful terrorists, to be the catalysts for something bigger to escalate. Again, hope I am wrong. jmo

No one will take them.

Yes, it's similar to the freezing of Russian assets such as Russian oligarchs" money, etc. during the war with Ukraine.

Israeli media is not airing the propaganda.
Hamas terrorists are sharing photos and videos all over social media.
The IDF and police have requested that no photos, videos or information be shared on social media.

I hope that Elon Musk and other social media platforms will block them from using X (twitter) and other venues to continue to terrorize Israeli's and the world.

Yeah, I'm reading news stuff that other countries are supporting (in solidarity) with them. (Not terrorists, but other ME countries and it wasn't Iran, but an Arab country, but it wasn't Lebanon either) I just had oral surgery, so I'm not thinking
straight.

My H has family in Israel. So far they are safe, but 2 have been activated and one, who has completed her service and now lives elsewhere, lost a dear friend from her time int he military.

I'm sorry for the loss of the dear friend, and praying for the safety of the family members who have been activated.
