That's a bit south of the layby. It looks like a vehicle has driven up the moor. Tractor or quad bike tracks maybe.

There are a few of those that look to dead end. I assume they're for checking on/moving sheep.

On one of the pictures of the lay-by taken since she disappeared you can see glass on the floor so the police must have smashed the window.
The lay-by looks about 300m from the nearest trail so she could have run on the road there but likely to have been seen as busy road.
Possible reason for parking there could be to avoid the parking charges at the woods which there are.

We're sorry to report that officers searching for missing woman Jenny Hall, have sadly found a body.

Officers carried out an extensive search alongside specialist partners and have been working around-the-clock to locate Jenny after she went missing on February 18.

The body was found in a very remote area in Teesdale just after 9.30am today (February 23).

Formal identification has yet to take place.

Jenny’s family have been notified and are currently being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts remain with them.
It is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances.

We would particularly like to thank the public for all their help in sharing our appeal and the expert mountain rescue teams and other organisations who have been working intensively alongside officers on the ground.

These include Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team, Penrith Mountain Rescue Team, Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team, @DuddonandFurnessMountainRescueTeam

Rip Jenny. Well done to all the searchers who worked so hard to find her.

As expected, but still sad. I'm glad she has been found and the family can have closure. The unforgiving terrain and dark clothing must have been difficult for the searchers, but they were clearly determined to find her. RIP.

:(Very sad. Not very specific "a remote part of Teesdale".

Still doesn't explain if it was intended not to come back, an accident, or she came across someone and was left there. I assume there will be a post mortem. It does say they don't suspect suspicious circumstances though.

Well done to all the searchers it's clearly been a huge effort all round. I wonder if they had some specific info or luck paid a part in finding her in such a large area

Just been reading up on this case.

I think it’s clear the police have additional information imo which probably points towards mental health struggles.

Unfortunately, I think everything is pointing towards a suicide.

I hope she’s found soon.
I fear that you may well be correct here. If they do indeed have possession of her devices I think that's a significant sign. A guy I know got very depressed a while back and decided he was going to chuck himself off a local suicide spot - he left his phone behind at home. Fortunately he changed his mind but the leaving the phone behind thing seems to be common with these things.

Terribly sad news, 23 is no age at all. I’m glad she can be returned to her family and it’s clear the search and rescue effort did a thorough job.

Rest in peace, Jenny.

"A file will be prepared for the coroner". Does that mean there will be a post mortem or does it mean the police will just report to the coroner?

A police car went along the road to the moor with flashing lights about 10am - which is presumably because they had found her/a body. RIP

  • #179
No suspicious circumstances suggests either a suicide or accident with resulting perishing in the cold snowy weather

I feel it is a suicide sadly

Teesdale is 322.8 square miles - much of it is remote.
