Found Deceased Jenny Hall, 23, described as a keen long distance runner, vehicle located on the B2678 between Eggleston & Stanhope, County Durham, Feb 18 2025.

That's a bit south of the layby. It looks like a vehicle has driven up the moor. Tractor or quad bike tracks maybe.

On one of the pictures of the lay-by taken since she disappeared you can see glass on the floor so the police must have smashed the window.
The lay-by looks about 300m from the nearest trail so she could have run on the road there but likely to have been seen as busy road.
Possible reason for parking there could be to avoid the parking charges at the woods which there are.

We're sorry to report that officers searching for missing woman Jenny Hall, have sadly found a body.

Officers carried out an extensive search alongside specialist partners and have been working around-the-clock to locate Jenny after she went missing on February 18.

The body was found in a very remote area in Teesdale just after 9.30am today (February 23).

Formal identification has yet to take place.

Jenny’s family have been notified and are currently being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts remain with them.
It is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances.

We would particularly like to thank the public for all their help in sharing our appeal and the expert mountain rescue teams and other organisations who have been working intensively alongside officers on the ground.

These include Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team, Penrith Mountain Rescue Team, Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team, @DuddonandFurnessMountainRescueTeam
@CockermouthMountainRescueTeam, Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, @SwaledaleMountainRescueTeam, Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team, @NorthofTyneMountainRescueTeam, @NorthumberlandNationalParkMountainRescueTeam @UpperWharfedaleFellRescueAssociation (UWFRA), @BowlandPennineMountainRescueTeam (BPMRT), @CalderValleySearch&RescueTeam, @EdaleMountainRescueTeam @DerbyMountainRescueTeam and @NorthofTyneMountainRescueTeam

As expected, but still sad. I'm glad she has been found and the family can have closure. The unforgiving terrain and dark clothing must have been difficult for the searchers, but they were clearly determined to find her. RIP.

Still doesn't explain if it was intended not to come back, an accident, or she came across someone and was left there. I assume there will be a post mortem. It does say they don't suspect suspicious circumstances though.

Just been reading up on this case.

I think it’s clear the police have additional information imo which probably points towards mental health struggles.

Unfortunately, I think everything is pointing towards a suicide.

I hope she’s found soon.
I fear that you may well be correct here. If they do indeed have possession of her devices I think that's a significant sign. A guy I know got very depressed a while back and decided he was going to chuck himself off a local suicide spot - he left his phone behind at home. Fortunately he changed his mind but the leaving the phone behind thing seems to be common with these things.

So sad :(

Rest in Peace Jenny.
Condolences to Family.

and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

"A file will be prepared for the coroner". Does that mean there will be a post mortem or does it mean the police will just report to the coroner?
