Very sad news. I will miss Ms. Joan Rivers. She was a hoot. She did laugh at herself as well. Rest in Peace dear lady. My deepest sympathy to Melissa and Cooper.

Saw an interview this past weekend of Joan and Tavis Smiley...she was specific on not wanting to be kept alive...basically said if she couldn't perform she was ready to go. So sad to know shes gone. RIP Joan.

This has really saddened me - she was always so vibrant and full of life that it is almost inconceivable that she has died. I expected her to rival George Burns in longevity. I am so sad that she could not - I relished the prospect of her carrying on, foul mouthed, self deprecating and outrageous as ever for at least another decade and hopefully longer.

An extremely funny lady who could always make me laugh out loud.

RIP

Among throngs of others, I'm sure, my beloved mom is in line to meet and greet Ms. Rivers when she enters the pearly gates. :)

So so saddened by this. It has always been a dream of mine to be a stand up comedian or at least have the courage to at least try it out and she was one of my favorite female comedians. With her foul mouth, and outrageous statements she some how managed to stay classy at least to me anyways. They should just make everyone wear paper bags to all award shoes from now on.

I believe Anderson Cooper said he was going to dedicate the first hour of his show to Joan Rivers- I'm pretty sure I heard that right. I thought "Lady Valor" was coming on (which I do want to watch - I read his/her book), but I think he said the first hour of his show will be about Joan. Hope I heard that right.

I'm so sad about Joan! I just loved her....and I agree, Dogface, I thought she remained classy too - even with the foul language and all. And Dogface....go for your dream!! Just get up there and do it! :)

I honestly wish I could find the courage to just do it! I think it takes a lot of guts to get up there, especially just starting out. I heard about how Joan got her first gig on Johnny Carson shoe via Bill Cosby and I just think how wonderfully exciting and terrifying it must have been at the same time!

Amazing that Joan didn't stop working until ---literally -- she died. I mean that respectfully. Yes, sometimes she had a biting tongue ; but she laughed and poked fun at herself just as much !
I believe she is at peace and is making the angels laugh ! :)

Rest now, Joan. Your work is done. :rose: :rose: :rose: :star:

LOL Just put on your Nike's and Just Do It. The first times the hardest, after that easy peasy :-)

Unique people always interest me. Joan Rivers was unique! Beyond that, she was honest and true to herself. She didn't crumble over the opinions of others.

Like justathought, several years ago when prices were better, I enjoyed watching Joan sell jewelry on QVC. I have a set of faux coral beads that can be made into a torsade necklace and a pair of earrings from her line. Both are good quality and pretty to wear.

On her reality show last year, Joan featured a health scare that involved a spot on the inside of her throat. I didn't watch every episode but, I believe, she received word back from her doctor that it was nothing to worry about (non cancerous). I've been waiting for reporters or people who knew her to mention the health scare since it may be related to her fatal test last Thursday that is being referred to as routine. Wonder if she was having a follow-up test since her voice was becoming increasingly hoarse. Maybe she did have something more serious going on after all.

Makes me sad to lose another famous personality who has been around for as long as I can remember.
Joan was gracious to tell her daughter that when she's gone, Melissa will have the strength to carry on and understands her mom was at peace with herself.
It seems to me, Joan was generous to those she loved and the people she crossed paths with every day. That means more than whether or not people agree with her flavor of comedy imo.

They are going to be rolling in the aisles in heaven with both Joan and Robin there.

She apparently was in very good health for her age.
Anybody could see how energetic she was. The endoscopy procedure was an elective.

This is a very sad day.I was a Joan Ranger. Loved her for the laughs but loved her more for her candor.
When I watched a show about her tonight after Egdar died she had a gun in her hand but Spike the yorkie
was on her lap and she couldn't do it.
The love she had with Melissa was undeniable.
We have lost a legend.
But Melissa lost her best friend and mother.
I cannot comprehend Joan being gone but what Melissa is going through, I cannot imagine.
Rest in peace Joan, you were very loved.

Wondering if the State investigation is the result of a whistleblower who finally found their conscience. I wouldn't be at all surprised.

When I read the words stating she had been moved out of ICU and was being kept comfortable, I got cold chills because this is exactly what they said to me when they moved my mother. Within 7 hours she was gone. But it was a totally dignified passing. She just closed her eyes and stopped breathing. RIP Joan.
my heart sank when I heard that "she is resting comfortably" after being transferred from the ICU because I figured it meant that she had an Advanced Directive mandating "comfort measures only" if/when she was in a particular condition, and that it was only a matter of time. ADs are wonderful things because a person makes their wishes known ahead of time and their family is relieved of having to make difficult decisions (and being left wondering if they made the correct decisions)

Joan was a gutsy gal and a nice lady who was much admired. there will never be another one like her. may she Rest In Peace, and may her family be comforted by their memories of her

Shalom, dear Joan!
