@ katiecoolady I just wanted to tell you I read the link you provided about your sister's murder and I am astounded by how strong people like you and Travis' siblings are.

I am 42 and have a brother in his 30's, and we are very close...if someone took him from me, I think it would break me. I can't even begin to imagine the pain this causes siblings.

Thanks for everything you do. My heart goes out to you and Travis' family.

Thank you Rosemary. Means a lot. <3

Another member of the Church of BK :)

Am I the only one that cannot listen to BK's voice. Kermit? I can't focus on what she says because of her voice.....

how do we get you a lunch date w/ martines and or flores???

Wave your magic wand baby. I also need to a. get well b. be in town and c. find a way to not have to work at all for the duration of this trial in order to be there during the lunch hour. :great:

Right now, since the am session is so short it works for me to work in the morning and skeedaddle quickly over to the courthouse for the pm session. Good thing I'm self employed but a gal has to make some coin!
Dangit!

Ah yes Catherine Crier. I liked her. Those were the days.

They sure were. I miss those days when it was CourtTV

What a difference a letter makes. Substitute that e for an i and now we're talkin. ;)

He blatantly lied to the jury. He got a freebie because of the idiotic inconsistency in rules for opening statements and rules of evidence. "You don't have to prove it" is not a good thing to give to defense attorneys. I'd also add that Perry did nothing to stop Baez dishonesty throughout the trial, so it seems to me he wouldn't have cared even if he did know Baez' intentions.

You can call the rules "idiotic", but how would you enforce any other method?

No one can know for sure what the evidence will show until it is presented. How is the Court supposed to limit an opening statement because of evidence that doesn't yet, in fact, exist?

Closing arguments are different. Attorneys will frequently object if opposing counsel claims something in closing that can't be inferred from the testimony and exhibits presented.

It is possible to object to a claim in an opening statement. Imagine for example that a lawyer claims something that can only be substantiated by someone not on the witness lists; in such a case, opposing counsel may object.

But when Baez spun his story about child abuse and pool drownings, the prosecutor had no way to prove that George Anthony wouldn't confirm all of that when he took the stand. Or that CA herself wouldn't take the stand and swear to it. So there was nothing to be done but hope the jury would see it for the shabby ploy it was.

That doesn't mean that all of sudden all rules of evidence have been thrown out the window. Baez just pulled what most lawyers would call an ethically dubious stunt. Alas, it worked. That doesn't make it the norm.

Thanks TigerBalm! Yep that was my seat. Wonder what we were looking at there...maybe JA coming or going.

I believe it was during a sidebar, seems to be the only time the cameras pan wide (past Travis' siblings) on the prosecution side of the courtroom.

I am late to the discussion tonight and just watching dr drew. He said TOMORROW at 3 PM EST the continuation of the trial. Did I miss something? I knew there was something at 1030 with no jury, but what is at 3?

I believe he said a continuation of trial coverage (by HLN).
When the lovely Vinnie has his show.
Judge Stephens said 10:30 to the attorneys, which would be for the evidentiary hearing.

My sentiments exactly, that is what she is, a Killer, amongst other things.

I refuse to call her by her first name at all, which is why I only enter her initials when I make reference to her sorry arse, and I refer to the victim as Travis in my posts. What I really want to call her is !@#$$$%%! well, it is not allowed on here.

I'm going to adopt this as well. thank you.

If you notice I type out "the defendant" takes a few seconds longer but I don't mind.

I didn't even recognize Pete Burns at first, he looks so different.

Here is a video of Pete from a couple years ago, if anyone is curious.
http://youtu.be/qIuokI647D8

Again, anyone have any idea on trial tomorrow. dr drew sais 3pm tomorrow testimony continues. Odd time to me. I know judge said 1030, which is 1230 est, so what is happening at 3 est.

Btw, thanks a lot bill Clinton.....

Please see answer above

I'm sure this has been noted a gazillion times, but IMPO, Jodi used sex to keep her claws in TA.

Ab.so.lute.ly, RR, no doubt.

With all the other men, sex was her weapon & it worked. When TA started backing off the relationship (no marriage in the offing), and then he said "It's over," Jodi had to find new weapons. Nobody had said no to her charms before (as she tells it -- which could backfire on her, BTW).

She wanted this nice up-and-coming man, a winner in so many ways, all to herself, and I think she felt that she had him. Then came the "Go away, Jodi, we're done," and the Cancun trip with Mimi, and his thoughts on the type woman he wanted to marry. Then she realized that, she had to get a new weapon (or two). Yes, a psychopath with a knife, a .25 cal, rage, spite, gas cans and a car.

OMG - I am finally caught up!!!!!!!!!

On the Katie vs Katie thing - can I just express my thoughts?

I think both Katie's are GREAT. Both are articulate and passionate. Both have their own reasons for being there. Our Katie is an advocate and angel who wants to make a difference based on her own life experiences. As much as I believe in being a team member - I don't see the other Katie as not a team member even if she is not a poster here (and do we know that she is not????) ......anyhoooooooo - I also don't think that having ambition and a desire to be in the industry is a bad thing. Heck, I wish I had her energy! The only way I would find her drive possibly offensive is if she travels from case to case trying to insert herself in cases. In which I would advise her to go to broadcasting school instead! That said, to any Katie reading here - I think you ROCK!
:yourock:

Thank you. The other katie doesn't post on here but just trust me, her heart is in the right place. she's young (26) and hungry for her life's work. She's a court NUT like all of us are, has a degree in journalism and is seeing her dream laid right out there (covering trials) so you can't blame her for wanting to seize this opportunity to go for it. From things I witnessed today I think she stands a very good possibility of landing a job out of this. She's tuned in to victims, can't stand JA and is right there with the rest of us. So, I embrace her.

Fred Graham! Who was that middle aged dark haired defense attorney (who always pissed me off but I did like her too)?

God were we spoiled or what?

Are you thinking of Rikki Kleiman? (probably spelled wrong).
She was married to the LAPD chief at the time.

YES! Thank you!!!

Someone's gotta defend them. That's the way our system works. What about the person that's falsely accused? Where are they supposed to go? So this defense attorney may defend 99 guilty guys out of a 100. What if you were the innocent one?

Ask me after this trial is over. I just can't like him right now. I'm sorry.

Guy on Dr Drew named Paul Stern -- saying Jodi was frantic just before she went to visit Travis and asked him to borrow money. He loaned her money.

Sorry if this has already been covered

Sure, my mailbox is always open to letters of all kinds, including love letters. ;)

Yes, we lost the insurance case. :( BUT we got the story out so at least that was something. I will always hold them somewhat accountable for cindy's murder. We all do.

Oh geez just thought of the other thing. Shana Hogan said that in the police report it indicates Jodi stole all of Travis' journals and I guess he wrote copiously in these leather bound journals and she stole them. Elisha thought that she'd burned them. Evil evil Devil Witch.

When were the journals stolen?

I bet there were some choice things in there about her or she would have kept them

I am just watching now too! And I'm sure we are 3 hours late to the party ... lol
Do we think maybe this is where some of the money she deposited on her trip came from?
