Because I believe her to be a psychopath I don't believe love ever factored in. Psychopaths do tend to be more materialistic ime than non-disordered people though.I don't see her as a gold digger. I think she was looking for love.
PS - I get that those of you who think that she is pure evil will have a problem with my theory, so flame away.
When talking about what attracted my ex to me and how we managed 10 years together I have to say this: I made him look good. Not because I'm particularly pretty, well educated, or rolling in money...but because every good trait about myself he was lacking in himself. Compassion, sensitivity, a deeply strict sense of right and wrong. By extension, in his mind, he had to be good because he was with me and I was good. I was simply part of the illusion he put forth to the rest of the world.
I believe Jodi wanted what Travis had and it extends far beyond love or money. She wanted the respect he'd worked for, the friends he comforted, the relationships he'd nurtured, the success he'd built, the trust he'd earned, the humor that earned the biggest smiles in the room. She wanted the acknowledgement that she must be special because Travis was and by extension, if he was with her...
